  • Does PS3 have high phsX?! Is there a setting?!

  • @curiousepegasus no, it's only for PC.

  • cool! the PS3 has LOW PhysX....:-( Oh well your vid is GREAT!! When she was stomping the chess board and smashing the Hobby Horse it was AWESOME!!!! :-D I wish the graphics WERE like that!

  • I have a ati card, and found this offensive.

  • Waiting for burnout with this.

  • My game (alice madness returns) is REALLY laggy. A lot of people told me about the whole "lower your PhysX" or something.. Can anyone help me out on this?!

  • @xLoveWithZombie Just go on graphics settings and set PhysX on Low. If still laggy try to lower others things like antialiasing.

  • @xLoveWithZombie don't lower your physx just edit your AliceEngine.ini file

  • People always told Physx is gonna die if OpenGL comes, nothing happened do you know why?cuz PC developer are lazy as hell, they dont care if a new open standard comes out they wont use it. These physx effects are all made by nvidia, nvidia asks the developers to ad them into their games. Free work to make their games look better who would regret? So hate Nvidia and Physx so much you want but without them these games would be normal consoleports.

  • 4:44 i feel really sorry for AMD users

  • it's sad only so few games support physx

  • NVIDIA и их видеокарты GeForce лучше всех!

  • this game is pretty fun to play and the visuals are beautiful. some later stages are pretty sick though. also the story is a bit too dark for my taste.

  • AliceSmashing the shit out of things with a maxed out Hobby Horse is more fun than I should admit to having...

  • when will ATI have an equivalent to PHYSX !?!?!?

  • @Babelfish112 nver <-- See what i did there? But yeah why would Nvidia give something that they created just to force players into buying their graphics cards, brilliant really. And why not? Just buy an 580 and your'e all set for everything!

  • I bought this solely for the xbox because the ps3 version was missing textures. I am super bummed that I didn't know about the physx before hand, it makes the game look so much better!

  • The only thing nVidia holds over ATI.

I wish ATI could use Physx.

  • 0:29 very big daddy =D

  • PC master race.

  • Look physics , look gfx, look gameplay. Look my controls DOESNT WORK !.

  • If you have an AMD GPU, play through the game before you watch this. Trust me, it's heartbreaking.

  • @ZiggyZoko That happend to me with Arkham Asylum. Needless to say I now have GTX 570's haha.

  • @ZiggyZoko I got a HD5970 is that a good card? Also, shall I have my physx on medium?

  • @MindSeeR666 ati cards just don't support the physx... it's your cpu that runs it.

  • @MadnessZ90 Eh,.. I got an i7 920 @ 4.2Ghz.. And I lag lol.. Everything on high even physx but my AA is off and I only lag in combat :s... Is my CPU not good enough?

  • @MindSeeR666 well a cpu is not good enough to run the physx. For me you should buy a dedicated physx card like a gt 440 (very cheap).

  • @MadnessZ90 I want a GTX 590. . -.- I want to sell my 5970.. It's an awful card

Go SLI with GTX 590s tehe. . Not like i'll be able to afford one.

    But it's worth a shot next x mas. .

  • @MindSeeR666 if a gtx 590 is too expansive, i let you know that my gtx 560 ti, with lastest physx drivers, runs this game at 60 fps even in combat (only when i use too much the pepper grinder in the same place my fps drops to 30-40).

  • @MadnessZ90 Hmm, would a 580 be better? I want to go from AMD to nvidia. My 5770 is fine.. I won' be upgrading until next year or maybe the year after.. The drivers seem different and so does the ehh.. nvidias equivalent to CCC. . I may need some help in this. Tehe.

  • @MindSeeR666 i dont know how much you want to spend, but a gtx 560 Ti/570/580 are very nice cards.

  • @MadnessZ90 I won't be upgrade til next x mas really.. I've got an Asus P6T deluxe V2 I want to do SLI with maybe the GTX 580s. .

  • @ZiggyZoko Hmm, i have 6950 and it's more than enough to run any game max at 1080p... some needs to disbe aa but only beast games like metro 2033... i could get a 285 gt as a secondary and use cracked drivers for physx to work on primary amd gpu, for what? More dust and debris? No thx. I also do not want extra noise and power consumption. The thing is, you play for physx way overpriced, there arent that many games to begin with.. so just get 6990 beast and cheap nvidia for secondary physx card.

  • @ZiggyZoko And buying nvidia isn't worth it, their cards are priced higher, low quality components and the only unique thing is physx. Don't troll me bitches.

  • @tulp35000 typical ati fan boy... i had an 8800 gts, gtx 260 and now i have a gtx 560 ti, i never had a problem with them and i played the games with max settings. I don't want say that ATI is bad (i had a 5830 too) but we are talking about physx, so if you want play these games with a nice realistic get an Nvdia card or like you said a dedicated physx card.

  • @MadnessZ90 My first nvidia card fried in a week under no load at all... As i said, it's all marketing crap.

  • @tulp35000 My first ATI card fried fast too. Since then I've never purchased one again, but that is simply because I liked my experience with NVIDIA cards, and their Control Panel/Website/Drivers better than ATI. You need to stop whining about a faulty card every brand has them, you should have returned it.

  • @Ruflcopta Likewise, Ati ftw. Just because you like to pay almost double price for 10-30 more fps is retarded as buying a mac. Anyway when tech progress enough to fuse cpu and gpu.. aka apu.. amds first apu is only early stages and it RIPS fuckin charts.

  • @tulp35000 I'd much rather spend $200 to play a game at 60 FPS than spend $100 and play it at 30 FPS. Luckily, I'm one of the few who prefers no foliage and few decals so I can get away with the $100 card and get 60 FPS in most games but my point still stands. You can buy a cheap card but your gaming experience will be worse unless you change the settings to work with your card.

NVIDIA and AMD are both rivals leap frogging each other in performance. Just buy whats good at the time.

  • @ZiggyZoko Use old and or modded physx drivers, use an 8800 or other cheap nvidia card in one of your spare pcie slots. Bam Physx with ATI/AMD.

  • Almost all Assets were technically and aesthetically designed to showcase physiX especially the enemy ruins that has Ink like bodies which it's sad that most mainstream reviewers reviewed the console version and never took this to account

  • @bunnyhallow you can't blame them, most people will play a console version of the game not the pc, you can't do every detail of the game on something that only powerful nvidia video cards can acomplish XD

  • @darkjaden2

    Yes, you can.

They reviewed the PC version without including the PC-only benefits, i.e. PhysX, and PhysX makes a chasm of difference in this game.

  • @UshiromiyaReiji what you say is true but still the blame is on the developers, I'm not saying that using phisx is bad, on the contrary it's amazing, the problem is that you can't base vevery single animation, environment effec, etc... in the game on a system that only a few video cards can use, also the gamereviews that i've read critisi gameplay mechanics, boring platforming and that kind of stuff, they praised the graphics and made the cuote on the pc grpahics being better thnx to phisx

  • @darkjaden2

...But they certainly didn't base "every single animation, environmental effect, etc." on physX.

I don't get your point. Only the additional eyecandy (as huge of a difference as it makes) is done with physX, because if processed on the CPU, it would be extremely slow.

Besides, ATI refused to use physX themselves and haven't put out anything similar.

So I don't see why the developers are at fault for using the benefits of physX.

  • By far the best showcase of physX yet.

Finally, a game other than Mirror's Edge that shows how much of a difference the technology can make.

I had been using strictly ATi cards for, what, maybe seven years, but I suspect that physX will become a necessity to enjoy titles in some time.

Recently bought a GTX 560 Ti Sonic and I'm loving the incredible performance in Alice and any physX-enabled title.

  • I got gtx260 and I get at least 25 frames on high so... im good I guess, the game seems sorta like a tech demo since its gameplay is meh

  • 460gtx i have 15fps on medium quality in boss battle, nvidia is sucks.

  • @frkmybrain What processor do you have and how much memory

  • my HD 5770 is a shit, amd shit, Nvidia Rulez

  • in 2 years playing witfh Physx will be necessity

  • physx low looked like its played on ps3

  • I think "Medium" is the best for my PC.

  • I can't believe in 2011 we need a PhysX-dedicated card to add some debrits effects... OK that's very nice but I think it needs to much ressources for this result. I'm sure Havok does it.

  • so ,not only console gamers have stupid ps3/xbox 360 war, but pc gamers have stupid nvidia/ati war...humans are just nasty.

  • I play it on medium PhysX settings, and I have nvidia GTX 460 SE

Is there huge difference between high and medium ?

  • @maroom1 I'd say big enough.

  • First game that opens my mouth with Physx!

    Well done!

Btw, I own an ATI video card

  • I like how alot of the comments are made with nVidia fanboys

  • @Cpillin425 I recently upgraded from a crossfire 4870's to a single 6950, so I thought since I actually had another slot left, I may as well finally try the hacked PhysX drivers, and it's lovely, although it does lag sometimes because i'm using a 8800GTS (not very good for PhysX) maybe in the future I'll pay $30 for a better card to see the bonus eye candy (and that's all it is, a dying eye candy)

  • Alice2 runs great here @ 1920x1080 w/ PhysX on High / i7 920 @ 3.6ghz / EVGA GTX 480 / Win 7 64, I dont understand why the critic reviews are only average IMO this game is one of the best ive played in 2011.

  • As an ATI owner, this makes me sad :(

  • @an1m4l CRY SOME MORE!!!

  • @an1m4l You can run a dedicated PhysX card with an ATI card. Something like a 9800gtx would work great for that.

  • I got a AMD XFX HD 6950 xxx Edition with 2gb of ram and in fighting scenes with a big amount of Physx shit on Phsyx=High it does HORRIBLE lag...

I barely notice a difference between my old graphics card= nVidia GeForce gtx260

  • damn, nVidia was always hot, ordered a new EVGA geforce 580 GTX DS Superclocked :)

    cant wait for it

  • mfw I have an ATI gpu, feels badman. :(

  • @shilipsy

I know what you mean. Though I built my rig for about $700 as a sort of budget build last year, things like this make me wish I had saved up the extra cash for a better computer.

  • PhysX high kills even GTX 560+ gpus on certain scenes. Wow. Better get a dedicated physx card sometime soon.

  • @dingumfCallofDuty really? i've got a gtx 480 and the lowest frame rate that i've gotten is like 30-40 fps

  • @Ball50f5teal 30 fps is pretty low. You can actually notice the lag. Did you even visit the website the video description?

  • @dingumfCallofDuty 30 fps is the MINIMUM i get and it only lasts for like a couple of seconds, otherwise its constantly at 60fps

  • Welp, looks like I'll finally attempt to install the hacked drivers and used my 8800GTS as a slave PhysX precessor since I recently upgraded to a HD6950. Gotta play the game in all it's PhysX glory!

  • My GTX460 plays on high fine and it's fully playable. PhysX is much better on, 1920x1080, maxed out, 8x CSAA, VSync on.

  • poor consoles, don't worry you'll get there soon

  • PhysX is great but it needs a monsterous video card... Alice is extremelly slowing down on my GTX 275 when I turn on PhysX :(

  • the way its meant to be played, suck it amd fanboys physx in this game is amazing. its so dull and barren without it. hop on team green so you too can experience the awesomeness

  • I knew it I should of gotten this game for PC instead

  • No matter what physix settings are chosen, graphics looks ugly and ridiculously outdated.

  • I'm pretty sure low Physx is off, in the ini files low sets physx to 0.

  • MLAA is only needed for GTAIV, most other games have either ingame AA, or it can be forced on in the drivers.

MLAA is nothing more than a blurry post processing effect that was meant for consoles anyway.

  • can a GTX 580 run this at 1080p at 60 FPS with phyx on high? I am done with ATI and their overheating cards

  • @LOLMAN22 I am done with Nvidia trying to screw AMD customers with their stupid physX, good thing we have MLAA in The Witcher 2, and you can't run it. An eye for an eye, its only fair. I'm not buying into Nvidia just for the PhysX, now way dude, screw Nvidia.

  • @Cpillin425 hmm maybe ATI should stop sitting on their asses all day and release a competitor or a worthwhile emulator that can run the PhysX effects? Its been years and they have done nothing...I have been a loyal ATI customer since the days of 9800 Pro and I have owned at least 4 different ATI GPU's in the spawn of 10 years (9800 pro, X800 all in wonder, 4850, 5850...) the new 4xxxx and 5xxxx line suffered from poor driver support and overheating. I AM DONE!! BYE ATI

  • What a coincidence, I switched from Nvidia to AMD for the exact same reason you want to switch from AMD to Nvidia, poor Nvidia drivers, constant crashes, PhysX works, but it even crashes on their own cards (go figure). Like I said, want AMD MLAA? Buy an AMD card...its only fair. PhysX does nothing different and AMD Physics/Havok is better anyway.

  • @Cpillin425 MLAA only works in some PS3 games, best example of MLAA is God of War 3 which has the best IQ I have ever seen in a game...so far MLAA support has been worthless on the PC. I haven't used it for a single game...

  • @LOLMAN22 actually no, I can turn on MLAA in the Engine control Center for any game I want. The MLAA in GOW3 is not real MLAA, it's MLAA-style AA, not real MLAA. I wish you knew how good MLAA looks on an AMD GPU, but thats for me to enjoy and for you to go buy an AMD GPU and find out for yourself...it's only fair. You think physX looks good? you want me to go buy an Nvidia card? too bad cause im not doing that.

  • @Cpillin425 God of War 3 does use MLAA, google this article, "God of War AA coming to PC/360?"

Now I have 150 games on Steam and some more on D2D and EA Origin....including the newest titles like Witcher 2 and Crysis 2. Please enlighten me on which of these does MLAA look good on? So far from what I tried it looks WORSE in ALL games compared to (MSAA) not to mention it makes the HUD really blurry

  • 150 games lol tell me how many of those are from 2011 that you've actually tried MLAA on?

  • @Cpillin425 I'm enjoying my new HD6950, but if you have an old nVidia 8000 series, or over, you can install some hacked PhysX drivers and still have your wonderful AMD GPU rendering the rest! You could probably buy a 8500GT for $50 now if you're interested in doing so.

  • @Floreum the bad thing about that is I have 2 AMD cards in crossfire, which is waaaayyyyyyyy better; but yeah I've heard that you can have an Nvidia card together with an AMD card...but I,m not doing that either, cause I am really enjoying this game anyway = )

  • @Cpillin425

Wrong, I have nvidia card and I can run MLAA in witcher 2

THe MLAA used in witcher 2 is different than MLAA used by ATI. It works in all video cards

  • Of course Nvidia pay developers to use it, and good on them. Everyone knows that 90% of dev's won't do anything PC specific without an incentive, especially in games like this.

  • Nothing impressive to be honest. It's still looking far worse than physx demos from AGEIA made ages ago.

  • Wow, besides Mafia 2, these are the best Physx enabled particle effects I've seen in a retail game! I love the music editing you did for this comparison video! Props to Zogrim! I might have to buy this on Steam after seeing these awesome effects. I really love platforming games, which I hear this is mostly a platforming game with heavy combat. If I do buy this, my Geforce GTX 470 better perform adequately with physx set at high. I had to delete several apex files just to get Mafia 2 running well

  • We need PhysX for games, no matter what others say. Otherwise games look just like the ones back in the '90s except maybe the graphics but that is not everything. If you want real games than do it with PhysX. Period

  • Low may as well be "off."

half of this could easily be handled on either ATI or the CPU, just a gimmick for Nvidia to sell cards and pay developers to make it in their games.

  • I do not have apex destruction... :( What should I do? I have a GTX480. My Physx settings are high.

  • Crappy console port.

  • @airgilbert I love physx and some better texturing (as pretty much always nowadays) and less lock-on crap would make a pretty good pc version. Also having to go into a config file to make sure the game didn't lock fps at 30 is fucking ridiculous.

  • the physics with the liquid of the blood looks really great

  • Greater perfomance is marketing too. So?

If nVidia have technology, they can proud.

  • Way to play dirty, Nvidia.

  • класс

  • Awesome dude, great video as ever.. :)

  • Apex destruction has got to be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

  • Games look so empty without physx...

  • @Kronaras13 It's all a marketing scheme

  • @Kronaras13 because they remove all the stuff from normal mode

  • @Kronaras13 Correction games look empty without hardware accelerated physics, physx is outdated for a few reasons one OpenCL is more efficient than Cuda, and two both AMD and Nvidia cards support OpenCL. Havok uses OpenCL, and can be rendered on the GPU. I can assure you that over time OpenCL engines will take over. Why? Because no one really wants to code an engine for a game that will only work properly on half the computers out there.

Still this is an impressive display, and a great video.

  • wow, great vid first off :) do you know what the name of the song is?

  • Physx low looked more like Physx off.

  • Thanks for the demonstration!

    Very nice
