  • The mighty luftwaffe

  • Luftwaffe cazas y bombarderos en Wunstorf campo de aviación (1945). Es una parte del comienzo de la decadencia del poder aéreo alemán.

  • @megasanjuanino Creo que el declive comenzó en 1943-44;)

  • Thanks for sharing, cool pics alright.

  • what seemed to be worthless pile of scrap on those photos are probably worth $3~$6

    Million Dollars today

  • @emforty2 And would cost the same to make them fly :)

  • @emforty2 Quite good photos, but there is more the best shots on this theme.

  • @emforty2 Each probably

  • That's the fate, without fuel every aircraft is only scrap

  • @weddinganejakopp True indeed

  • Thanks for uploading your grandpa´s pictures...

  • @Elgrande555 my pleasure

  • Quite the "motley collection" there.

  • @vv55sst hmm, one of everything :)

  • It´s Wunstorf not Wünstorf.

  • At 1:00 , what is that plane on the lower left hand corner?

  • @ModellMeister

    Siebel Si-204 (for parachute/bomber training)

  • @GerbilEssences were they used in north africa?

  • Very nice video. Thanks for uploading those photos. Thumbs up! :)

  • @megatwingo Cheers ;)

  • Plenty of American planes met the torch alongside their German counterparts after the war. In some ways, a fitting end for both.

  • @kolbpilot I'm sure that Aluminium must have been moulded into something useful ;)

  • thks you !

  • Wonderful stuff. Thanks for posting. I would of loved to climbed through each & every one of those old war horses.

  • @kolbpilot They were probably incorporated into lampposts lining the autobahn or something :)

  • What a waste. I guess all the planes must have been scrapped. They could be flying or in musuems today.

  • This vid brings a tear to my eye, I dont really know why, its not like I wish the germans wouldve won :P

  • Where are all these aircrafts gone ???? very nice, but also sad vid, good work. 5 stars and more

  • Thanks, I guess they all grot melted down :( There were rocket and jet fighters the day before this photo was taken and they were shipped back to the UK. I assume one or two are still in museums here.

  • Interesting footage., nice edit !

  • Thx :)

  • thanks for sharing :)

  • . :)

  • The Name from the Airbase is Wunstorf, nere hanover. For interrested people just google: "wunstorf fliegerhorst".

i live in wunstorf and the airbase is still there.

  • Transport aircraft -C.130's ?

  • C160- We call it Transall

  • Ah yes!

  • Excellent vid!!!

  • hallo

  • hello

  • good video!! interest from czechoslovakia?

  • Thanks!

  • Wow!! Great photos and this is very historic! Thank you for sharing this. Thanks to your dear grandfather for thinking to photograph these back then!

  • Thanks for your interest :)

  • hmm junkers 88, tasty.

  • Scary I would say :O Especially at night...

  • Those planes really look a bit worn out (or must it be ..down?). A bit sad that nearly all of those were scrapped, every museum today would be glad to own one of those..

  • I think there is a Siebel 204 in a German museum somewhere, but yes very few of these are 'flyable'. My grandad, for his part, wanted to take home a Fieseler Storch but his superiors wouldn't allow this :(

  • I'm not sure about the Siebel, but as that was produced and flown after the war in Czechoslovakia, that seems likely. I know about a He 111 I saw in a museum, but with Merlin engines^^^.. (spanish licence production)

  • Ah, I seem to remember Avia making a LOT of german planes post war. I wonder why the spanish didn't get a licence for later and better bombers than the He111? Interesting that they managed to get so many Merlins for the Buchon and other planes.

  • Sorry I can't rate.. :(

  • Can't?

  • It seems to have worked this time.. but 9 out of 10 times I get kicked out by the server.,. which is 'mildly irritating'.. to say the least!! :)

  • 'kicked out'? Thanks for your bold attempts ;)

  • I just filmed my attempt to rate your little train video.. will post the result later! Needless to say I failed.. |:( But the plane video should have got 5 stars.. :)

  • Haha, should be interesting :) Although I now have two 5* ratings?

  • Yes, I managed to rate THIS video.. probably because I had not done ANY ratings or attempted ratings for the last week or so..

  • You sound so i rate, like a pirate.

  • I'm just annoyed.. :) And I've had a complaint about a kit I sent somebody, now I need to sort that.. One is only trying to be nice.. :) I will try and remember to send you some Hendon pics tomorrow.. should have done it tonight but I had to pop around the corner to my neighbour and TOZO shopowner, who is going to Hannants tomorrow.. I had an order for Xtracrylics and an Academy Airacobra for him to get.. Hopefully he still can, Academy will be hard to come by for a while in the UK.. :(

  • BM ask that person to mail it back to you - then just send him/her a Banana ( by mistake of course) :)

  • I got my Airacobra and paints without trouble.. I'm working on it right now!! :)

  • The Swedes flew a Siebel 204 I believe.. another German refugee plane, I think!! :) Great video.. interesting to see the schrage music, and other features! Just think if some of those aircraft had been preserved!!! But I guess there were so many, that tyey thought.. 'Oh well, somebody else will surely keep some for posterity'.. and then not many, if any.. did.. :P

  • Waht did they use it for - parachute training?

Yes exactly, that is why we have only about 3 flying 109s left! I wonder how many lancasters that Ju88 hit?

    Cheers,

    Dave.

  • I can't find any info on the Siebel.. perhaps they didn't use it after all.. but at least one definetely landed in Sweden during the war.. :) Or a very similar looking aircraft.. :) Hopefully that Ju88 didn't shoot down any Lancs.. but we'll never know.. I couldn't really se the Ju88 at Hendon, it was MUCH TOO DARK, which spoilt an otherwise excellent day.. The Stuka is a really ugly plane close up, I was surprised, as they look so good as a model.. :)

  • Shame, I am really keen on seeing hendon planes close up :) No photos at all, or was it download trouble?

  • Oh, I have quite a few photos... I guess I could send you some of both good and bad.. !! Then you can judge for yourself.. :) I'll get on to it later, I haven't got many on the computer right now.. :0)

  • Great pics and somewhat haunting to see the real thing so candidly. The wreckage and German war insignias really made it like a creepy graveyard.

    Very interesting!

  • Thanks. Apparently the day he arrived at the airfield there were rows on jet fighters and rocket planes, perhaps he would hve photographed them then if he knew they were being shipped off early the next day :(

The grey picture is a scan from a glass slide only 8mm x 7mm :)

  • I mean 8cmx7cm! Still a lot for something so small.
