Kissing and hugging isn't quite the same as having sex. I'm in Spain right now and have run across a lot more people making out in the streets here than I ever have in the US, so it's not just an American thing, no. Where are you from originally that it's so gross to show affection in public? Seems a bit uptight from my perspective.
