that "Fenestron" system (enclosed tail fan) reduces the noise by quite a bit and makes it safer to walk around it while the engines are still running. It's a quite innovative idea on Eurocopters part...great video though!
do they do ride like schedule ride for like 30 minutes or something like that and if so how much would it cost figured you probably would know since your really into this
Life Star (out of Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT and Backus Hospital in Norwich, CT) do fly alongs for medically certified persons through their STAR Program. They fly BK117s with a crew of 3, Flight RN, Flight RRT and the pilot. Qualification for fly along is contingient upon weight requirement, valid/current state certification as an EMT or higher and knowing that they may leave you on scene anywhere in the state if they need the room.
I have a few with the older paint scheme on it but I have yet to upload them. I might be able to get that fly along video too. I know a friend of mine that is a police officer and he took his video camera with him on it about a month ago (February 2007)
N/B I-795 between I-695 and Owings Mills Blvd (next to the Metro). I think it was an older patient who was a priority one for head injuries from an auto accident. If you ask me, the medics had breakfast waiting at the station and didnt want to run down to trauma...
You're right...a priority 1 head trauma is much better off bouncing down 83 and through Baltimore City's smooth-as-silk streets, fighting traffic.
Great video but the Monday-morning quarterbacking is a cheap shot. Unless you're a MEDIC and know something about the incident, I'd leave the editorializing out.
I've seen the MDSP helicopter(s?) many many times in real life, and the thought I always have is "what a nice helicopter." Also very distinctive sound. It's hard to miss. Nice video.

@n2dauphin weird noise is due to the mean rotor equiped of carbone fiber blade
in order to absorb hard vibration due to the high speed rotating of bi-turbine !
when carbone fiber rub against the air fast it make this piercing sound

@pilotboy17 Yeah they are great choppers. Love the way they sound.

you should DEFINATELY do a ride along in that! it's crazy how much the camera shook from the intense wind when the chopper was landing.
