It's a really good comment and had me thinking for ages. I'm not sure if NZ gas prices really warrant the conversion although it makes sense on many other levels. For example, with New Zealand's clean & green image it's just what the doctor ordered.
New Zealand may have that 'clean and green' image, but it aint doing anything to introduce electric cars, doesnt give any incentives for people to change to renewable energy (we have some wind farms coming up now) but still it isnt doing enough. Hopeless government. Oh we're giving underfloor heating for prisons and spending millions on them.
yeah..they take care of prisoners and dont think to start care about our planet..i think it were much beter if they would spend those money on opening a shops were you could convert your gas car to ev.
Good question. I'll be using a 12V vacuum pump connected to the brake master cylinder. These are fairly readily available from any EV converter and occasionally found on Ebay too. I should really order one I guess...
Hi, was just curious what you will do to provide vacuum to the break master cylinder (since you don't have your old engine's vacuum as a source.) This was something I was pondering while thinking about a future conversion.
Also does that particular model car come with power steering?
hey, this is awesome. i'd love to convert an old mazda miata into an electric vehicle for my daily commute to the subway station in Washington DC. is this something that a novice could do in his spare time?
I have been getting ready to convert my 93 ford probe to an EV in the next few months and was looking for some good data on what others have done. These videos are perfect, well recorded, well editied, they keep your interest, and are just great. Thank you! You are the man! Good Luck with the rest of the conversion! I look forward to watching you every step of the way!!
LOL! I'm currently working on the bodywork which is a bit more intensive than I expected. Couple that with my PC burning out means it may be a little while before the next instalment! I'm recording all the progress though - stay tuned!
This clip is absolutely Brilliant! The background music is spot on and everyone seems to be having a good time. All I recommend doing is getting a less jittery image and adding black bars to get a widescreen effect.
Thick, black, and delicious. Just the way I like em.

The gearbox probably broke because of the engine seizing up. It may have sent a devastating shock through the whole drive line.

What do you do about the big problem of keeping the windows defrosted, with no heat producing device?

It's probably a speed hole. It makes the car go faster.

Sure is, I've seen two converted miatas on the net over the last few years. They'd make a great conversion - nice and light and fun too.
