You can tell because their abs are so ridiculously large that it looks like they have a gut, notice that Arnold doesn't have that. He is also the most proportionate body builder ever (as far as I know.)

@azt3c Well basically the best answer I can give you is one part is never too big for the other. For instance, his chest is perfectly matched with his deltoids. His calves are well synced with his quads and so on and so forth. A more experienced body builder could go into greater detail, but basically it means one part doesn't overshadow another. Very few body builders nowadays (and even back in the 70's) were as proportional as Arnold was. I don't think there is a concrete "base" of proportion.

@azt3c Because he was the most natural looking body builder that ever lived. EVERY body builder now is clearly juicing and overloading. You can tell because their abs are so ridiculously large that it looks like they have a gut, notice that Arnold doesn't have that. He is also the most proportionate body builder ever (as far as I know.)

@azt3c Well basically the best answer I can give you is one part is never too big for the other. For instance, his chest is perfectly matched with his deltoids. His calves are well synced with his quads and so on and so forth. A more experienced body builder could go into greater detail, but basically it means one part doesn't overshadow another. Very few body builders nowadays (and even back in the 70's) were as proportional as Arnold was. I don't think there is a concrete "base" of proportion.

In Arnold's day steroids were thought of as nothing but a basic supplement. Like we think of Creatine or Cell Tech.
