have u dried to play something full graafics and at least 5 hours . i have in this mashine 8800gtx and i can play even cabal low graphics if samte time can ATI
it really depends on the game, they are similar though. crappy card needed alot of help from the cpu, and the good card helped the crappy cpu alot... so it kinda evened out
i only played the games, i was just messing around... but you sound really interested. ill try to do the same set up (i have since taken it down) and post a video. ill add you as a friend, and tell you when i post the video as soon as possible!
Believe me, I tried. Unfortunately I have one of those hp computers and I looked for it, but there's no bios Oo just some options but no overclocking :(
Scratch that last message, I seen at that start of the video that you are using the default 1280 x 1024 resolution to run this benchmark, great score all the same...
I was wondering, do you know if it is possible to run two 8800GTX card that are from different manufacturers, like 1 card being from Asus, and the other from BFG?
My highest score is 10225, and that was on an AMD 939 4200+ x2 cpu O/Ced to 2.8ghz, I have a single 8800GTX, I now have AM2 CPU/mobo and can only get a score of 9980 :(
since forceware 96 something (maybe even earlier) you've been able to do this. if you read some sli reviews quite often they use two cards from different manufacturers.
thanks man, I wasn't sure, as I used to run two 6600GT's in sli, and back then it had to be the EXACT same cards, I thought that they had sorted this out to let you run two cards from different manufacturers, but I just wanted to make sure, I plan to drop another 8800GTX into my machine soon, i dont see the point in going for any of the current 9 series cards, I think if I run two 8800GTX's in SLI it will probably be just as good if not better than the current 9 series cards,
My system e8400 @ 4.1Ghz memory 2Gb of corsair ddr800 dominators 4-4-4-10 @ 1000Mhz, video single 8800Gt overclocked gpu:720Mhz and Memory 2020Mhz. Score in 3dmark 2006 is 15511 ;-) Nice pc i wish to have it but not stock ofcourse overclocked till it maxed out!
I was running my 8800 GTXs in SLI on a 680Watt PSU and it worked. I just got a new 1000 watt one so I would have more connectors for better cable routing.
awesome! ill be making almost exact same system, as soon as new stuff is released (price drop). The only thing different will be a 3rd PCI-e slot in case i want 3-way in future. very helpful!

Nice video, thanks for uploading it. I'm currently saving up for a brand new home-build with the best hardware I can get my wallet dug into (I'm at about £500/$1000 right now, got a long way to go :)
It was interesting to see the framerate highs and lows on your system, which is pretty much identical to what I'm after. What PSU and memory are you running? Also, what version of DX do you have?
I can't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to use the GPUs' full potential. Generally speaking, you should be able to run any GPUs you like: but make sure you get a decent, well-rated PSU with plenty of power. Your 660W should be OK, but personally I'd go bigger, at least 800W. At least this way, should you choose to upgrade or add any components to your rig later, you won't have to worry too much about the required power. Good luck :)
dam im confused! i hav amd fx57 with two 7900gtx cards in sli, i want to get two 8800gtx is sli but i hav windows xp. will this mean i wont see any drirectx10 benefits? also i hav 660w psu. would that be enough for two 8800gtx??
Nope u wont get any dx10 benifits. DX10 only for Vista im afraid atm. And ur PSU *should* be enough (mate of mine runs it fine with that) but if ur unsure, go bigger.

my score is around 15000 whit a single videocard 8800GTS 320Mb clocked @ 660/970. maybe i can buy another 8800GTS and get higer score then 2 8800GTX in SLI
Having two 8800 gtx cards in SLI seems like a waste one of those cards is so fast it will run any game perfectly. Unless i had a very large monitor that support the higher resolutions i would only get one card.
Great work on your PC man. I would love to have a score like that one but with only one 8800gtx and a duel core it will never happen. I'm sure you are ready for DX10 games since DX10 is not the problem it is Vista. When the time comes make sure you post some screens of you playing Crysis at blazing speeds to shut up any haters.
Remember directx 10 games are coming out Q4 2007 and comes mainstream in 2008. With today's best of eveything, it's gonna get shit on the face with doing games testings at 30" max res 2560 x 1600 and at every setting on DirectX 10.
On my other responce I mean max out "at very settings", not everything
The score is only for resolutions of 1280 x 1024 on 3Dmark06 and he has a freaking 30" Mac Display with 2560 x 1600. He should test it with maximum resolution on 3Dmark06 of 2560 x 1600 and max out everything to get the real score for his PC. I can just tell that his PC is going to get a lower score with those settings.
most gamers use 1280x1024, its still the most popular screen resolution, and the fact that 3Dmark06 puts that as default which means if you want your default score you should let 3dmark chose the settings etc
it would have been nice if he also did the max res score as well
you have to admit, 17k for 1280x1024 is HUGE as most gamers have around 6k-10k
a couple years back it was found out and there was PROOF that nvidia optimized their drivers specifically for 3dmark. They made it so that the card was only rendering the path in the game test, rather then the whole scenery.
The result was a very high 3dmark by the nvidia cards, which meant absolutely nothing about real world games.
Get off nvidia's dick thanks.
On a side note my next card will be an nvidia, but thats becuz as of now i feel they are a better company.
You see that all-time lowest score of 11? Haha thats from my crappy compaq laptop. Wanted to see how low a score I could get with Intel graphics. My only claim to fame.
Hi, I got a similar system to yours but using amd fx62 dual core cpu instead. Only scored 12500 on 3dmark06. How stable was your overclock on the cpu and what settings did you managed to clock on the gtx's?
4-1/2 years later, and I finally have a computer faster than this one.....

yup man you true, but last génération in double procs i think is X6800 ( is the best proc now ) so quad cor2 exterme 6700 not number 1 :D

MiNDBLiZZaRD 4 years ago

Gah! I love how the 3DMark demos' load times seems to be less than a second each... haha.
DontEatCream 4 years ago
Having two 8800 gtx cards in SLI seems like a waste one of those cards is so fast it will run any game perfectly. Unless i had a very large monitor that support the higher resolutions i would only get one card.

Ummmm.... im running a 30 inch LCD at 2560x1600

I get 2 fps on this 3dmark
Nogert 4 years ago
Great work on your PC man. I would love to have a score like that one but with only one 8800gtx and a duel core it will never happen. I'm sure you are ready for DX10 games since DX10 is not the problem it is Vista. When the time comes make sure you post some screens of you playing Crysis at blazing speeds to shut up any haters.
darchangeldavid 4 years ago
quote "Why did you get 2 8800's when 2 ATI HD2900 XT's running in crossfire are said to run faster??"
because the 8800 gtx cards in sli are faster than the ati 2900 in crossfire.. by quite a large amount actually

Remember directx 10 games are coming out Q4 2007 and comes mainstream in 2008. With today's best of eveything, it's gonna get shit on the face with doing games testings at 30" max res 2560 x 1600 and at every setting on DirectX 10.
On my other responce I mean max out "at very settings", not everything
weaponxp 4 years ago
dude. ATI cards have always loved 3dmark06.
its a benchmark not real world gaming. which nvidia STILL leads.
and 8900 cards are comming in 3 months. 9 series in a few months after.
=] PS, why didnt he show the CPU tst? ahha it runs a .5-1fps :P
TylerTron3 4 years ago
The score is only for resolutions of 1280 x 1024 on 3Dmark06 and he has a freaking 30" Mac Display with 2560 x 1600. He should test it with maximum resolution on 3Dmark06 of 2560 x 1600 and max out everything to get the real score for his PC. I can just tell that his PC is going to get a lower score with those settings.
weaponxp 4 years ago
most gamers use 1280x1024, its still the most popular screen resolution, and the fact that 3Dmark06 puts that as default which means if you want your default score you should let 3dmark chose the settings etc
it would have been nice if he also did the max res score as well
you have to admit, 17k for 1280x1024 is HUGE as most gamers have around 6k-10k
SirChipmunk 4 years ago
Yes, but the true score lies at the resolution of 2560 x 1600. If anyone can get 17k at 2560x1600 has the best PC ever!
weaponxp 4 years ago
see this is just uninformed.
a couple years back it was found out and there was PROOF that nvidia optimized their drivers specifically for 3dmark.

Hi, I got a similar system to yours but using amd fx62 dual core cpu instead. Only scored 12500 on 3dmark06. How stable was your overclock on the cpu and what settings did you managed to clock on the gtx's?
itsys2 4 years ago
3.75ghz is very stable and i got the cards to 720@2500 with stock coolers.
maxishine 4 years ago
i love the fact the the human eye can only see like 35fps. but if you run folding@home i understand for the extremeness

And it's not like getting a leet score in some computer program will impress any ladies... hideous geeks excluded.

man are you weird? you don't have to overclock those cards unless you have a death wish or something that beast can explode
