@turkeydick1 failed miserably at tech? they had four 20 win season, and got to the sweet 16 of the NCAA tourney, and at one time were ranked in # 13. THey hadn't done anything close to that in 20 yrs at that school. That's not failur. Failure is having the most talented team in the country, and losing in the sweet 16 cause you can't make free throws, can't hit a 3, and got outcoached by a guy in a sweatsuite.

Damn right. I've heard stories of the shit he does in practice. They are like a well oiled machine. Its crazy when you think about it. No big name players because he doesn't believe in recruiting. Yet he still does better than half the teams that recruit out there.

Great post rdmtask. I think it summarizes Knight very well. He is what he is, but despite that, he used to produce the most efficient motion offense that the game of basketball has ever seen, at ANY level. Truly a giant in coaching, despite the salty demeanor. You can say Knight was an asshole, a bully, but you can't say that he didn't motivate 18-22 yr olds....because ya know what? He did. See: The United States Army (oh, he coached there too)
