S sound needs to be apical-alveolar rather than predorsal alveolar (almost sounds like sh, but not quite).

Would it matter if I don't understand completely what the people are saying in the podcasts? Also, I find it difficult to differentiate/pronounciation some sounds, e.g. "peRRo" y "peRo". How do I practise and improve my oral? (given that I don't have a full Spanish-speaking environment)

@BrianTheMusicMan Studying abroad can provide the type of input you need to learn an accent, but I personally don't think that study abroad is *necessary* to learn an accent. What you need is to listen to 1-2 hours of podcast from the target area per day. These podcast should be comprehensible for your level of Spanish. You should try and mimic the way these people speak, even if it sounds terrible at first. It will sound terrible at first.
@dychui Great advice, I'll definitely be taking all that into account. I tried listening to Cabreados and I can just barely understand it: it doesn't feel comprehensible. I feel like I'm on the cusp of understanding it but never can quite hold on. There are still a lot of gaps in my vocab and listening skills, so I'm trying to get better before I go back to listening to podcasts. I'm looking forward to your new videos though! Thanks again!
@BrianTheMusicMan Having chosen very early on to learn the Castillian accent, I have received lots of negative feedback along the way from Latinos. At this point, Latinos usually assume I am from Spain or that I have lived in Spain for an extensive amount of time. But remember, I lived in Mexico before moving to Spain, and even in Mex I practiced the Castillian accent (muy malamente, estoy seguro); I'm sure it annoyed people to no end.

@dychui I know what you mean, I'm also from Southern California and chose a Castillian accent right when I learned about it (mostly based on the usefulness of distinction and a love for the sounds). I've also received heat from Latinos and people in general: "Why are you talking with a lisp? What's wrong with your S?" But nevertheless I've decided to stick with it. But the Madrid accent has been hard to exactly master. Perhaps you can help us newbies out on how to perfect it! Muchismas gracias!
Bueno llevo toda la tarde viendo tu canal y me parece fantastico,(espero que no pienses que soy un pesao) jejeje...si quieres oir un acento puro castizo madrileño...te recomiendo que veas sobre todo la pelicula "LA TONTA DEL BOTE" protagonizada por "Lina Morgan". De esa peli podrás saltar a otras de la misma época y estilo....también podrias ver peliculas del actor "Paco Martinez Soria" que era Aragonés y tenia el tìpico acento "Maño" (Maño son los nacidos en Zaragoza) saludos tio!!

@dychui es el típico acento de "tio chungo", "porreta descerebrao", es el acento del "Pirri" de los ochenta efectivamente, cuando la heroina o "El Caballo" se llevaba la vida de media juventud rokera de las grandes ciudades españolas. Te seguiré mandando enlaces, pero estudiate los que ya tienes, de los monologos se aprende un güevo tronco! ;) abrazo!
