  • Thank u for democracy.

  • thanks for uploading this video i have a school project on greek democracy :D

  • Time before madness christians....good times

  • I've noticed that it's still hard to find a vid with that title, but Youtube won't let me post the link to it's own site for the song (strange!)

    Search for:

Hildegard Von Bingen - Vision; 1994 Song performed by Emily Van Evera, Sister Germaine Fritz, OSB

and it should come up as the first hit.

  • The song is Vision - Hildegard von Bingen

  • is a perfect civilization. And the oldest civilization with culture and literature. respect'!

  • but democracy as a form av government ist bad, it's only useful und good when kombined with another form av government like a republik ^^

  • The fifth and fourth centuries were dark ages for the Greeks, there was poverty, ignorance, religious intolerance, civil war, piracy and plague. The major cities were not yet built. It was in the Roman times 200BC-600AD that the Greeks reached their peak. The Greeks reached the higest posts and created and built, during those golden times. The age of Pericles was a dark age for Hellas.

  • the ancient greeks had benefited us so much intheir work.....they had made our cilvilization grow

  • Thx for putting this on youtube, Im doing a School projekt about the Ancient Greek democracy! :)

  • In the 5th and 4th Democracy science and human religious rights were supressed Books were burned all the prominet men were executed Pericles Cleon Alcibiades and others were butchers The classical era of Athens began under the patronage of the Ptolemies Attalids and reached its peak from Augustus up to Marcus Aurelius

  • First democracy? Yes, but limited democracy: only for freeborn Athenians, without women...etc. In fact, citizens were minority in population. Ideal of ancient democracy: "Ah, all the people of our polis free and happy! Nobody oppressed, and even the any poorest man have at least three slaves" :D

  • @Alex197919 yeah just look at KRATOS

A real example of democracy hahahahahahaa

  • @Alex197919 Democracy is always limited, ultimate freedom and equality for everyone is almost utopia.

  • we are become worst insead of being better as the years pass

Thats bad,i truly belive they were(ancient Greeks) much more clever than people today

  • Lies humanism wasan't born in Greek thats a awfully huge lie

  • he there, thanks alot, i found the video very useful and i think ill use some bits for my essay, could you please give me a source, author, anything?!

  • I just have to say that Athens never had a "true" democracy. The landed aristocracy always controled what was happening in society. The Assembly never had a true meaning, women were not of great importance, and people not native from Athens had no political participation nor could they own land. The nobles took care of the major decisions in Athens, and as a result, Athens was a limited democracy.

  • Sokrates' last words were: "I drank what?"

He really did have a well-developed sense of humor, though. Don't let any know-it-all Greek scholar tell you otherwise. Cheers.

  • Democracy WAS true except for the no women part. Cleisthenes started it, and Pericles made it better and raised it up. I am studying Athens.

  • Sokrates apparently equated Democracy with mob rule. I'm not sure what he personally preferred, however; ideally he might have supported a governing body of statesmen-philosophers in the spirit of his most famous protege, Plato. But my personal impression of Plato is that he wasn't as well-grounded and practical as his mentor. People seem to forget that Sokrates was a career soldier into his 40s and saved the life of his friend General (Alkibiades) Skambonides on at least one occasion.

  • sweetness ill use this as school work :P

  • Και κάτι ακόμα:

Όλα τα πολιτεύματα γεννήθηκαν από Έλληνες στο πνεύμα, όχι μόνο η δημοκρατία και σχεδόν όλες οι πόλεις είχαν βουλευτήρια.

  • opos panta perarist ise kai o protos;)
