Alot of people wish they didn't die, but thats the cruel side of war, you lose friends, Allen and Garnett were real, their names however were changed in this game but the true facts surrounding how they were actually killed are in the U.S National Archives in D.C How do you think Gearbox came up with such a compelling story? they did their homework thats for sure.

exactly, but they weren't exactly the same people as the ones that they are based on. Some of the characters are based on one or more person. And besides, using Allen and Garnett as the first in the squad to die (other than Muzza) really breaks the player down, enabling gearbox to show that cruelty in a way that directly effects the player's feelings. And then there was Desola, a mere two missions later, then Obi, then Leggett. Also there was Rivas!

@cew1965 Yeah you don't hear of Dave Muzza very often, just in Red's story and in Carentan when Baker says "The feeling of victory is slowly being ebbed away by the faces of Muzza Garnett Allen Desola Rivas.... and George. I love this game though a lot of the good characters die, but hey there's more great ones, like Jasper and Connor lol

@InvaderGimli the ardennes offensive and the battle of the bulge are the same. and so, hells highway wasnt based on that. i wish they would make a game based on it though. its a story that needs to reach out to the younger generation.

I wish Allen and Garnett didn't die as well.

They were the best, their humor wouldve made the in depth storyline of BIA HH twice as interesting.

When going through a shitstorm instead of "you follow orders you coward etc etc" it wouldve been nicer to have "hey baker do you honestly think that this situation can be described as anything else BUT COMPLETELY FUCKED!" you know what I mean right.
