i broke my key off in the front door and i managed to get it out using the curved point of a thin file i found in my cupboards. it was my last ditch attempt before having to get a locksmith :) haha saved some cash there
I got my truck key out with scroll saw blade.. Not exactly a tool of the trade, but I got it out about as fast as you did :) Great video. Really saves the 40 bucks a smith would charge.

This WORKS!!! I used a paper clip with the very tip bent and worked out enough to grab with the needle nose. I'm Oregon, USA and I learned something from the UK, wow, small world. Thank you so much for the video
thank you man you saved my life! also, for the poor and desperately in need, take something small like a safty pin or a rly small paper clip(i dont reccomend sewing needles because the metal isnt too strong) and useing something heavy like a hammer, flatten the part of the pin/clip your going to stick in the door then use the heavy object to bend the VERY tip of the clip/pin, then pull the key out, good luck mates
This video saved the day for me. Thanks! I work in a medical laboratory, so although I did not have your tool, I made something similar using a long syringe needle where I gently bent the tip backwards using pliers. We can now use our freezer again.
Sir, that was sweet! I am not a locksmith, but I am the Key Control Officer at a prison unit and I have to face broken off keys almost every week. I am going to make me a hook like you demonstrated from a hacksaw blade. You made the extraction look easier than anything I have ever seen. Thanks for uploading the video. (5) STARS
my mom just broke off her key in the frount door and i just now watched this video to figure out how to take out the broken key and it worked so, THANK YOU SO MUCH this video was a life saver!!!
I used a knife and toe nail clippers to get it out

I ended up using a sharp pointy knife, to pry out the key enough, for the needle-nose pliers to grab onto the broken key, then it came right out.

Ok that's great, but umm...not many people carry that, so make a video using something common around your household so we could use

I make this from a fine hacksaw blade, flat cut works best.
Just look at what is presented and your hacksaw blade and cut.
A hacksaw blade will yield at least 5 of the things, 7 to 9 if you are careful.

Thank you! I just got the key out in a few minutes. Your video helped a lot!
I used pliers and made a very tiny bend at the end of a paper clip. It really helps if you have a copy of the key to get an idea of its shape.
thanks again!
