Gotta say that Raymond Manzarek plays much worst now that he did in the 60s...rather than getting better and more skilled within the decades,he sounds like his hands are frozen without any creativity at all when soloing....his organ style in the 60s was way,way better...not to mention the mediocre Vox organ samples he uses in these tours.... :(
Not a replacement ! Ian is a conduit. It doesnt hurt he already had a vital rock-n-roll act prior , I really miss The Cult , & b-4 that Southern Death Cult
the people that think this is not IAN ASTBURY have to be inept. This exactly looks like Ian and sounds like Ian... if you do not think it looks like Ian go look at CULT shit from the album Beyond Good and Evil... this was his look at that point. As far as vocally... you just must not be listening to The Cult.
I think it would be an honor for anyone to sing Jim's music... of all candidates there have only been TWO people in the world to hold that honor and portray Jim brilliantly- Ian and Val Kilmer...
You all waisted your time passing judgement on Ian there. It´s not even him!!! This dude in the vid is a good 10 kilos lighter than Ian Astbury in all other videos of him from over the last 10 years. Also his stage movements seem incredibly uncharacteristic of IA. Also the voice is not his aswell.
amazingly how many singers who get succes without beeing able to sing 100 % properly - isn't he a bit off from the original, tonewise he sometimes slides of the sheet. But hey, it's better than Madonna.
I'm a Cult fan and I like the doors and this does feel awkward, Ian stands alone as a great all time singer and he i feel he did this out of an interest to play with the doors but don't call the man a nerd
World famous celebrity interviewer GARY JAMES has just interviewed Gerald Pitts and posted it on his Classicbands website. It is in the Believe It Or Not section. Enjoy!
No one is replacing anyone. JIm has been dead since 1971. Why in the world would anyone tell the surviving members not to play their music. There is only one surviving Tempations and they keep playing the hits. Why should anyone tell Ray John or Robby to stop. We know Jim is dead so no one should be compared to him.
dont be a retard just LISTEN to the damn music.i think Ian understands Jim's music. he's not trying to BE Jim but to bring the doors spirit out with Jim's songs.
They didn't replace him.............Jim Morrison died in 1971 from what i think was drugs and drinking to much....Ray and robby wanted to keep The Doors alive so they got a new lead singer and a new drummer because John Desmore refused to rejoin and a bass player
This was from a VH1 Storytellers special a few years back. The Doors performed various songs with a couple different singers. I dont recall all of them - but I do remember Ian was one of the highlights. Which is probably why he became the singer for the Doors second lineup. They also performed with Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots - just search for the clip.
Scott Weiland from stone temple pilots was another one from this special..he was just as good as Ian, but Ian sounds so right singing morrison songs..
Even Val Kilmer's singing is better than this!
Jiiiim where are youuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Astbury went from being an original with The Cult to being a third rate Jim Morrison impersonator.
Sad.

No Feeling at all...
I prefer a bad singer singin with the whole soul than a great singer with no sense of interpretation...
Ian just dont feel this music & lyrics.

Ian is not my favorite of all of the guest singers on the Doors tour - but that is no reason to get stupid and mean about his singing.
