I agree with most of you, season 1 was the best and then it went down hill from there, especially season 5 which I still cannot completely finish til this day. But I found Liam more interesting than Boone.

Roddenberry was definitely ahead of his time. However, once "Star Wars" came out, he shifted from trying to create series maerial and moved to movies, where the big bucks were. Still,the "Bible" (character and storyline books, etc) was already made. Definitely a good series! The Atavus was so-so, and I liked how it ended! "Come Sail Away" always comes to mind as they jump inter hyperspace at the end of the final episode. "We climbed about their starship - and headed for the sky......."

Charles Dickens died before completing Mystery of Edwin Drood. Yet a completed version was produced on Broadway. Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated before completing Thirteen Days and Gordon W. Prange died before finishing At Dawn We Slept. Others completed these books. Sorry, whiteb89, but my observation that this tv series might have been more successful had GR made more complete notes is far from "stupid."

Majel found a draft of EFC in Gene's belongings after he died, and the series was made from the draft, how can a dead person have more Role in something ?

There are countless examples of novels, plays, and musical pieces that were incomplete when the innovator died. Others finished it, sometimes using outlines of the deceased author/composer. Is this such a difficult concept to grasp?

The first season was brilliant, unlike anything I had ever seen before. But in the following years, it lost its way. It seemed as though they were making it up as they were going along. Perhaps the first season was all that Gene Roddenberry had created and without his genius, there was nowhere to go.
