75 years ago the concept of Black Holes wasn't yet contemplated. Now, we know they must exist. Actually it makes perfect sense that there would be billions of Black Holes throughout the Universe. I guess you could think of them simply as extremely dense Stars since we now better understand Gravity. I love these "Ask an Astronomer" Videos!

Ive seen black holes be explained a little bit like water drains, pulling everything towards it in a circle until it goes "down the drain" even light. But if that is so, then what is up with the jets shooting out of it? water drains don't expel anything out, it all goes in.

Its the things black holes cant eat for some reason, water drains love to drink water.... but sometimes gets clogged by hair and such... so it has to get the water out to allow more space to try to unclog itself.
