Hi, yes sometimes the pecking hurts (especially if they get the soft bits between your fingers), but I'm used to having my hands pecked by pigeons (I work at a wildlife rescue centre) and I love pigeons so I don't mind the pecks. :) Pigeons can be very loving to humans if they are tame and they trust you, but they can also be very defensive of their nest area so will tell you off if you intrude.
Someone found him on the ground as a fledgling, ill, and hand-reared him. Since he's tame he cannot be released because he has no predator awareness instincts (he was living with some cats too) and would only harass people for attention (and then someone might inadvertently harm him). So he was taken to a rescue centre to live with tame, disabled and fancy pigeons.
doesnt the pecking hurt? excuse my lack of knowledge on pigeons, seems pretty cool to have one on your side
