The old testament to contemporary Jews is known as the Tanakh - the Talmud is a rabbinical work of many volumes which is a discourse on the law & every issue of life however asinine or mundane. It was written in the AD (Xtian period) - finished in its entirety many centuries after Christ - and in its first form in the 3rd c. AD. You're confusing the Talmud with the Tanakh. The Talmud is used by Orthodox & Conservative Jews today, the Reform Judaism today as far as I know - does not use it.
