  • Just finished watching the video and I would say I really enjoyed it. She's been through a lot but the ending is quite okay since she was able to accept that she's just making up those personalities to compensate.

  • I just watched the movie... and the beginning i didn't gettin that well what was going on... but after i watched it i did... i really like this movie and it was weath 3 hours, :)))) thx for the trailer btw

  • I saw a book about this woman and wanted to see the trailer....I couldn't even finish watching 2 mintues of this vid before I was to desturbed to watch the rest! real or not no one should go though stuff like that!

  • The story was fabricated. Someone did research, looking through the entire case files once again, and found out that the psychiatrist was actually prescribing her patient hallucinogenic drugs. Whether she had the childhood she described is unclear, but the personalities were actually psychotic breaks caused by the drugs that her shrink was smothering her with. It was a money-making scheme. That does not change the impact that Sybil had on psychiatry today, though.

  • @Dawn2Dusknback I do not believe you dear show me the proof thanks..

  • @SisterAnnieCharles

The book 'Sybil Exposed', by Debbie Nathan is my source. Also many websites have been updated to include the new research finding Sybil to be a falsified story. All you really have to do is search on google, or in a book store.

Next time do some research on your own before leaving trash comments on people's channels. That was uncalled for.

  • @Dawn2Dusknback Who in the hell do you think you're talking????? Don't you ever talk to me that way again,or face the wrath of he who is greater than I.. Have a blessed day dear thanks..

  • I read an article recently that said that story wasn't true, but made up to make money. =(

  • @CeeBayy she has schizophrenia

  • @marilyn611926 what is it like having DID? I want to get completely educated on the whole disorder.

  • Sybil started a journey into darkness before Sybil Dorcett. There was Sybil Jason a well known actress a guard at the door at 6 Vicky is a guard at the door. Neither is going to let a psychiatrist past. They are so good at presenting a normal personality that no one may find the exact point of protection. Sybil spoke of "people"..."lots of people" as presented in a police file in North Bay Ontario. She was then about nine to eleven. She had been tortured. Climbing represents the hot coals

  • i bet hope her(sorry sybil) fucking cunt of a mother is burning in hell and syble is in heven laghing

  • Sybil was not a hoax. It was an exaggerated account of real events.

Multiple personalities exist, but it's not always DID and doesn't always follow the "script" that Dr. Wilbur thought it did.

Shirley Mason did not stay integrated. She felt better with her "family" around than without them.

But mostly, Shirley was a lovely and gifted woman who has been misportrayed in these films and books. Wait for Nancy Preston's book and read her website: Sybil's Friend. Look up Dr. Patrick Suraci.

  • it's sad how people actually believed that DID thing (if it weren't true). it means there's not much reliability as to how people diagnose DID, or no basis as to who is actually malingering or lying.

  • I really liked this version of "Sybil." Tammy Blanchard and Jessica Lange are excellent in it. And it does a good job of conveying the story, despite being only two hours long (the original "Sybil" was four hours).

  • okay. im just wondering. and i would love to know what this song is. i really like and can not find it. so if you have an awser please tell! idk how but figur it out

  • I have to say first that I've never seen the movie till now, this clip, and I'm in the middle of reading the book, just started yesterday. I don't like this movie because it twists the facts, and I understand about time limits and so forth, but even the actress who plays 'Sybil' did not do justice to the role, in my opinion. Sad, all the way around.

  • He fell on a FUCKING rake?!?!? omfg that was horrible!!!!

  • I read this book years ago....never watched the movie...i mos def will after seeing thing....i forgot that i wanted to see it!

  • Thumbs up if you got here from Listverse :)

  • is she a mother? that's completely outrageous!

  • Check out her friend's website, her name is Nancy Preston (google it, I can't seem to put up website addresses for some reason).

  • She completely believes in Sybil's diagnosis. It's a shame that Sybil (real name: Shirley Mason) is no longer alive to defend herself.

  • I believe in the story of sybil, the human mind is capable of anything, especially if someone has gone through years upon years of abuse. I recently emailed Sybil's old friend (who started off as a student of hers), and she emailed me back.

  • the true story of Shirley Mason is still controversial. it was said that her condition was publicized to be more dramatic and exaggerated by Doctor Wilbur to gain popularity in the book deal. though this movie sounds so interesting, we couldn't take the possibility that most of the parts are all made up to deceive us.

  • this shit is so creepy. i saw that guy jump and then hes dying! i aint watchin this shit!

  • I cannot decide which movie is too sad and tough to watch: Sybil or Precious.

  • @WithAVoiceOfAnAngel3 They are both movies that are very sad and tough to watch

  • @ReneeDreams I agree.

  • What on earth was going on at 1:10 and 1:23? This movie and story are incredibly sad.

  • was that her sister? (the girl who dropped the glass item)

  • "Sybil Exposed" is a piece of cheap Hollywood trash. There is really nothing in it that isn't in the original "Sybil" book -- except for a lot of explicit and implicit sexual rumor and gossip.

Wait for the book by Nancy Preston, "Life After Sybil" -- she's got the real goods on her, she was her art teacher and knew her "behind the scenes".

  • WTF NO DUDE Y DO THEY ABUSE HER SHES JUST A LITTLE GIRL

  • who does the dad kill at the beginning?

  • Even the writer of SYBIL EXPOSED, Debbie Nathan, said "well it was just one big storm of events that snowballed and just became one big mess, you couldn't tell what was fact, fiction, and COMPLETE fantasy"... They all wanted something for themselves. Apparently in the movie of "Sybil" this letter sorta made an appearance, but in real life she'd said "I want real help though". What's Dr Wilbur do? "If you deny you have MPD, I will NOT treat you"

  • @ibkristykat The "smoking gun" letter was actually printed in full in the original Sybil book.

  • the case of "Sybil" wasn't a hoax--- she probably really was abused, but she was a very malleable and suggestive type of person. Dr Wilbur made 1 mistake by hypnotizing her, which helped to set the stuff she said into "Sybil"s mind as if it were true... then she didn't do research in the town "Sybil" grew up in.. went & got a writer, who also didn't do research, and then was told by "Sybil" herself "I LIED"... but they proceeded under the old folk idea "you're just afraid!"

  • Too bad that this was recently proven a hoax

  • Yes, Sybil was a hoax, and it was dreamed up by three women who called themselves "Sybil, Inc". The doctor, the writer, and the patient. The story about how they were all reared led to the most barbaric of all stories, scarier than this Fictious Novel, that likely steered and revealed the barbaric treatment and analysis of so called disorder, up to this day. The women each and of themselves had big issues..the trio and their story should be a big movie money maker some day.

  • @sponsler I'm reading the book "Sybil Exposed." I actually got the book by the author herself, autographed by her and it's interesting as hell. It does make me wonder if DID is real or if it can be easily fabricated.

  • @WeatherMondacicci It really got me started. ..and finished. Keep reading it with an open mind is a suggestion..read and know the words. This women left no stone unturned. The revealings are scarier than the story. Did this case in fact impact the drug and medical industry?...serving not the very people they were originally intended to?..think Dr's now dolling out drugs, scripts/diagnosis for almost anything. on earth when before..it was much simpler. Eyes now open to at least, possibilities.

  • yeah this was all cooked up!! POS!!

  • SYBIL WAS A HOAX DONE FOR PROFIT! It was revealed yesterday in the NY Post that this story WAS A COMPLETE FABRICATION!! Kyle Smith wrote the column and it is devastating to the supposed facts behind this story. Check out his article by searching his name at the bottom of the Post's home page.

  • @sixgunn98 You believe something that is in the New York Post?

  • wow how intense....her mother made her that way

  • BTW sally field played Sybil

  • sally field is better...

  • would you please share with me the link to watch the whole video?

  • please could i know the title of the song,im doing sybil for my drama exam and this music would fit perfectly

  • @AmatuRahiim It's not a disease, a disease is not equal as disorder. Disease is something that is an infection due to virus and the like, while disorder is a behavioral type of disability in which hinders someone to have a normal behavior as what people see and do.

  • I loved the video you just produced..! and the song as well :D could anyone tell me the tittle of the song ??

  • This song make me remember about someone at some network ( multiply.com )

She is have many site with different name and character, and lies to everyone there including me. So very clever how to make different character.

She is never slept all nights and always around with her sites.

I think maybe she is Multiple personality.

    Hmmm make me afraid!

I seen that movie and very interesting.

    Thanks for the post! :-)

  • she overacts vicky.

  • holy crap! this movie confronts me with my own childhood. minus the dead baby part. my mother was verbally and emotionally abusive, my father molested me. on the other hand, they sincerely cared about me. i did , surprisingly, not develop multiple personalities though.

i have to watch this. it seems dark but fascinating!

  • i dont want this garbage! why hasnt any1 uploaded the original with sally field?!!!!

  • somebody knows the name of the song?

  • i think some of it is real but remember this is a movie and for that reason they must have had exaggerated somewhat to make it more entertaining, dramatic, and exciting to make a profit...try to keep that in mind. i wonder though what are the truthful parts i may never know...

  • The 1976 version is better. Sally Field is excellent in the film and does a great job of showing Shirley Mason personalities and her hard childhood. The ending of the 76 version ended with a happy ending though, which isn't exactly how the book concluded

  • JESUS CAN HEAL ALL THEM DISORDER

  • @Pzingalele <----the face of IGNORANCE. jesus can't heal living on welfair BITCH

  • WHY THE FUCK HER MOTHER USED AN BUTTON HOOK ON HER??? I DONT GET IT ! :/

  • @zoeymsi182 sybil's mother was a poor sad schizophrenic that abused the child mentally, emotionally and physically. She would rape a little girl with the button hook.

    enough said.

  • @4Uand4USa ay ay ay poor thing :(

  • why the hell did they remake this movie ? it's just a total copy of the brilliant original, like a karaoke of the original totally unnecessary.

  • tsk tsk tsk.... Poor woman....

  • @napster336699 did u find the name of it???

  • Want to know the TRUE story of Shirley Mason, the real woman who was Sybil, and of her psychiatrist and the journalist who wrote SYBIL? Read "Sybil Exposed," by Debbie Nathan. Available in October 2011 from Free Press/Simon & Schuster.

  • Poor girl /:

    awful mother.

  • 6:31 you can see the therapists pulse!! Her carotid artery... omg :P

  • Being French, that is literally the WORST French accent I've ever heard. And as someone studying psychology, that is some pretty fucking bad acting too. Thanks. I'll never watch this movie.

  • @DistrictScarlet At the end of the movie, Sybil hears Vicki speaking on the recording device and says, "Ah, God her French is terrible."

...just thought you would like to know. :]

  • @ajnachakraguy That's actually pretty funny. :)

  • oh my god how horrifying

  • I like the version with Sally Field better

  • Original with Sall Field - SO MUCH BETTER

  • This made me sick to my stomach.. This has happened so much. Im not aware of it.. The things like the paintings not being finished in my style. Things like that I notice. But my boyfreind has recorded the switches.. I have 2 alters and I think the one is definately most like Peggy. She draws things that arent mine, and has said she wasnt as good as me before according to the people that know.. It makes me sick realizing that I do that...

  • Original movie in 1976 is better. Sally fields killed it.!

  • @nuksqueen07 sorry meant to vote down you suck. sally field did the original ahahahahahah

  • What is the music? Please can you link it?

  • Caution: I was convinced by a few Therapists and amateur Dime-Store Book counselors that I was "Multiple Personality". I would believe this if there was some PROOF but after YEARS of study I found that the theory did not apply to me. The devestation of such fake therapy is unbelievable. You go through life believing you are potentially evil and unable to control lapses into "Fugue" which will make you any variety of freak. This therapy idea can be dead-wrong. Don't buy into it.

  • 6:46 look at the reaction of the psychiatrist... she's still in the calm state... physically.... omg.... 16 personalities....

  • @AmatuRahiim let me. mpd is not a disease its a disorder mpd cant kill you

  • The one with Sally Field was better

  • @hsm102103 yes that is true i saw both parts on true movies 2 3 nights ago and i was gripped from the start

  • @BlackGuyKai2 Look up what an enema is...

  • @senorjiveturkee only a dumb person wdnt know that

  • @TheMentalyinsane Not what i meant

  • heart breaking

    whats the song called? thanks

  • Thank you for your video. Information on dissociative identity disorder is at ritualabuse(dot)us

  • @marilyn611926 how does your familay and friends cope all ur perssonnalites/how do you cope with it all too ?

  • We r watching the old version in school. Its soo sad but I like it better than this version.

  • i wish i were there so i cud kick her mom's ass.

  • @copnite12342 so wud i but her mum is dead now

  • the saddest thing about sybil is the fact that its no one's fault. you cant blame the mother-she herself had scizophrenia.maybe the father, he saw all the shit happening and didn't do a thing....

  • @Ambika2712 seeing wat happened to her i fink her mother knew wat she was doin the girl didnt ask for it did she she was only bout 5 or sumin

  • I've been reading the book and I can say that its even MORE amazing because I explains a lot of things that are not in the movie.

  • Hey can you give me full detail about this movie !! I wanna watch this movie !!

  • I just have to say that the original is SO MUCH BETTER!!!

The remake is unpersonal and goes to fast forward! It`s like they try to put all the 11 years she was under treatment and show it into 80 minutes.

The original from 1976 starring Sally field, a 3 hour and 10 minutes movie/mini series is so much more beliveble and heartbreaking! I seriously hope you guys see that one insted. ;)

  • I just finished watching the 1976 Original Version of Sybil and let me just say, I am still terrified of that movie. Nothing made my skin crawl than the creepy music in the background, it made me feel so uncomfortable during class. I kept moving around in my seat but I really tried to just remain still and watch the movie, but the torment that went on in the movie just made me want to throw up.

But I really recommend this to anyone interested in this disorder.

  • I think Tammy Blanchard is an amazing actress, as is Jessica Lange. I love JoBeth Williams, but she is too over the top in the role of the mother - the thing that made the mom in the 1976 version so terrifying is that she could go from "sweet" to deadly in a heartbeat.

  • @AmatuRahiim It's a mental disorder called Dissociative Identity Disorder, which is not recognized as a serious illness.

  • @stationranger You my fiend are an idiot and an ignorant... Either that or that is your dumb personality talking...

  • Jag beklagar att Youtube har översatt min egelska originaltext till en undermålig svensk dito!!! Tack i alla fall för kommentarerna

  • @AmatuRahiim People just refused to believe that a disease like that could exist back then and that it was all hallucinations or a mental disorder of some sort. I mean there are many skeptics still who argue that MPD doesn't exist.

  • @bdreamer4ever mpd does exist yes but its not a disease its a disorder

  • i'm going to refer this to my psych class

  • The original movie with Sally Fields is better!

  • @nintendaholic I don't. I feel bad for Sybil's mother. She obviously was mentally ill, herself. I feel bad for her as well as Sybil.

  • Agreed. The 1976 version was better.

  • the 1976 version is wayyyy better

  • very famous case in psychology

  • I saw this movie at my skool with a bunch of people and it was ok

  • Whoever watch this movie - it is NOT fake! It is based on one unfortunate child who was extremely abused by her mother´s sickely emotions (from an extremely sick upbringing, I am sure!). DO NOT RIDICULE THIS - IF YOU TEND TO ,,, THEN YOU ARE NOT IN TOUCH WITH OUR SELF AND YOUR OWN FEELINGS. And you know what? You have the opportunity to do something about it! Lycky you!!!

  • @rubisistra VERY WELL SAID!

  • @rubisistra Yup, I agree!

  • @rubisistra i read sum of the story on the real person and it says that she may never of had mpd but case files on her and her doctor are locked up sumwere so we will never know if she did have mpd or not FACT

  • @rubisistra It is fake. The writer, the doctor, and patient dreamed it all up to make money...this was revealed when the medical records were released and made public. They were all 'not well' from the get go.

  • @rubisistra dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2049789/Sybil-Best-selling-child-abuse-split-personality-author-exposed-FAKE.html

  • Don't give your kids hot water enemas or they become Schizos ... got it!

If I keep learning at this rate I'm sure I'll make a great parent one day.

  • @ASKaPHYSICIST well no. Dont give them enemas because you just shouldnt ...and 2. if you are a schizophrenic do NOT have children...you will not be fit enough to have one. 3. Sybil had Dissociative Identity disorder..could have became schizophrenic but i dont think she did. 4. good parenting increases healthy grown children (see the 1976 sybil if you didnt) harsh inconsistent parenting makes children messed up.

  • I don't like how they depicted Vicki. Vicki was the protector. She kind of seems like a brat in this one.

  • The movie didnt demonstate the abuse enough

  • Comment removed

  • the original one with sally field is soooo much better...you have to watch it!

  • can i know the name of the background score?? have been looking up on the internet for the past 10 months but in vain....

  • learning about DID in psychology, so sad...

  • so sad.. :(

  • her mother was also suffering on the same illness--- but ist more worst than hers

  • @ironmaidenjeanne01 not the same. Doctors speculated that Hattie was a paranoid schizophrenic which is much much worse.

  • Saw this Sally Field version of Sybil... It was a very very good movie, and very sad. I don't know if I could watch it again though, some parts of it made my stomach twist up in knots, making me want to vomit (expecially the end scene...). It was a very interesting movie though. A friend of mine is reading the book.

  • Her family is soo vile and cruel to her and i felt sad for her when I watched this movie, and if I was in there and with help, Me and my freinds will teach her evil family a lesson and send them to prison for life.

  • is this the right movie where her mom locks her in a box and she uses crayons on the coloring top?

  • i read this book last year and i was like shock about the things her mother do to her. her mother has schizophrenia and hers is MPD.

  • when rabbit howls...

  • @ 0:43... who or what is that? a doll?

  • Alguuiien me podria decirr el nombRE de laa melodiiaaa o CANCIOn ! con la ke empieza este videoo!! ?¿?

  • what did she mean when she said "you better hold it"

  • @aubreybradt If I remember the 1976 version with Sally Fields, 'you better hold it' had to deal with her being tied up to the piano and not being able to go to the bathroom.

  • @aubreybradt Sybil's mother poured freezing cold water inside of her and forced her to hold it in like urine until her mother was done playing the piano.

  • This film look very poor, and the acting of this girl is horrendous, just horrendous. This film plays like a horror film, music and all. I had to lower the volume here because the music was so annoying. Why would they take a horror movie approach? The guy falling on the pitchfork was so cliche. I doubt that really happened. I don't remember that at all in the original. I'm sure this got ZERO awards or nominations. I'm insulted by the disrespectful approach toward sensationalism. Bad script too.

  • @goodguysdoll it is in the book that sybil saw a friend die in the haystack... i don't remember it being quite like this though. I agree about the horror approach, its a far too sensitive story.

  • @bertha23 su amigo muere en un pajar a causa de una bala perdida

  • assaulters will always call victims liars- thats their legal defence from being locked up-heres hope--TAKE ACTION /WHY Abused woomen still support patriarchy -coupleup- go to religious or spiritual distractions- so women wont have to ACT and build their OWN territories

    - much hope and how to comes from IROQUOIS WOMEN and the book shows how prevention of child abuse can be organized and exist

by imitating women who owned their longhouses and lands-

    any one willing to ACT?

  • Since Gabrielle Giffords is married to an astronaut, she has great medical insurance with NASA. So the space agency gave the job of rehabilitating the debilitated Jew Giffords to Lisa Nowak, an equally head-challenged woman -- (Feb. 6, 2007)"In what NASA is calling a bizarre and sad story, an astronaut is being accused of attempted kidnapping and murder.

Police say that Lisa Nowak planned to kidnap and kill someone she considered a romantic rival for the affection of another astronaut."

  • Ugh!! I'm so fucking disturbed.

  • I've never seen Sybil, but I've become very interested in watching it. Either this version or the 1976 version. Which would you recommend?

  • @slinkiesandpie22 Definitely 1976 version

  • Until Dr. Wilburs files become available to the public, there will always be controversy. Many people believe that Dr. Wilbur manipulated the situation and created the multiple personalities under hypnosis. When she passed, it was revealed that she placed her files under lock and key. They cannot be opened until a specified period has passed. That certainly sounds suspicious.

  • fantastic movie, whats de name of the song? please is beautiful :D

  • At the end of this movie the first person that came to my mind was "Michael Jackson".

  • aurore is worse worst child abuse ever in CANADA

  • Very well put together albeit sad and shocking - the world needs to know and understand

  • good edition,

  • her mother was a psychotic bitch who is now burning in hell! i woulda killed her ass if i had been sybil & what the fuck was her father doing when her mother was abusing her sitting around drinking scotch? i'm sorry but there is no excuse to treat a child this way much less your own.

  • oh wow~ classics are the best!

  • I get so sick whenever I watch this movie.

  • The book is truly a work of art. better than the movie

  • I have been trying to find this version but can't find it. Where can I buy it?

  • @ShamonjTV1 You can try amazon.

  • @bdreamer4ever I have the older version but I don't see this one on Amazon for some reason. I bought the older one on amazon.

  • @ShamonjTV1 you can download it from p******y if its not on dvd ne were

  • Just saw the movie On Tv ;; It almost makes me cry :] ; I have bad memories 2 .. Iloveeeeeeit ;]

  • holy shit balls...

  • I prefer the Sally Field version of "Sybil." That won her an Oscar. In this one, you've got Sybil's Mom as the Mom in "Poltergeist"! You should see the other version.

  • I found that Tammy Blanchard did a truly fine job portraying Sybil with great skill, as she changed very quickly from character to character. Jessica Lange gave another fine performance. My favorite movie version will be of course will be Joanne Woodward and Sally Fields version which was really deep and made me cry as well as made me furious at the cruelty of the mother. They gave stellar performances. May the real Sybil ( Shirley Ardell Mason ) rest in peace now.

  • What did the mom do with the piano? Tied Sybil up to it? CONFUSED *_*
