  • dam those were the good times seeing that santa fe engines pass by while at school at santa fe lol

  • @Aquafino1241 yea, not anymore. but this coming Sunday, the BNSF Xmas train coming to the city of Hope in Duarte one last time.

  • @singwith are u going to tape it since its the last time its going to be here?

  • i live 2 blocks west of that, have seen all my life that local.. idiots shoulda done metrolink. but nooo that makes sense

  • I used to live in Arcadia and watched the Chief, the Super Chief and the El Capitan run through town. Around 10 on weeknights, an eastbound local would come down the grade from Pasadena (the track down the middle of the 210 has since been torn out). I don't know whether it was the turbochargers on the Geep 35's or dynamic brakes, buy there was a high pitched whine that set the coyotes howling up in the Monrovia Hills east of the Santa Amita Wash. So we would hear first coyotes, then that whine,

  • @electroscribe Nice. Thanks for sharing your memories. I'd love to see the Chief going through there but now we'll have Metro Gold Line near the future.

  • Nice GP30 in the lead! The nose still has the older ATSF style herald on it, thats awesome!

  • Thanks!

  • I used to live in Duarte CA and I still have family in Monrovia.. Wow im home sick for the west coast..

  • How often do you visit your family in Monrovia?

  • I haven't been back to Cali since 1988.

I really want to move back . Living in NH really sucks.

  • you won't see any trains running through Monrovia though.

  • There is a great place to film trains in San Dimas. Just west of the main drag. it's a big crossing and when I was kid I remember they used to FLY down the tracks.

  • So are you saying that there gonna open the gold line from La to azusa is that means there is gonna be no more santa fe trains going from irwindale to san bernadino there gonna break the santa fe tracks down and make new tracks for the gold line i hope that doesn't happen that's gonna suck i want the santa fe train to ran on these tracks forever

  • I'm guessing that Santa Fe continues to run between Irwindale and San Bernardino but no more on Monrovia. The Gold Line won't open al least another 4 or 5 years though. :D

  • If you want to see a close-up shot of the Monrovia depot go to panoramio photo 21563265

    Enjoy!

  • Thanks.

  • You Know it is really stupid on how railroads replace other railroads; I Miss the BN Santa Fe , Elgin Joliet Eastern! All These Railroads What is going to happen Next!

  • you know the economy is bad right now, you never know what's going to happen next.

  • Actually the Foothill Extension is set to open all the way up to Azusa by 2011 if funding works out.

  • the first plan to open the line was 2009 and then pushed back to 2010 and now 2012!

  • YOU ARE ONE OF THE LUCKIEST MAN ALIVE! I HAVE SEEN #2468 RUNNING AROUND THE STATION! PLUS HE LEFT ABOUT A WEEK AGO AND THERE HE IS! 5*'s AND A FAVORITE*!

  • Haha, thanks!

  • I like that old passenger depot!

  • Yea, that's nice old depot but it's too bad that there's no plan to restore and open until Gold Line extension is open.

  • Great video! 3 santa fe units in one shot, thats great!

  • Thank you!

  • Looks like BNSF is adding Electric Digital bells to there old units too.

  • Yes, I have not heard of it my self except through youtube videos.

  • Great video, didn't the pacific electric run through there to?

  • Thanks. Yes, PE did run through Azusa and an old PE bridge is still there on San Gabriel river.

  • Great video, good to see the old guys still at work.

  • Thanks. Yea, Love Blue/yellow Santa Fe geeps.

  • Nice!! I think that is rare, I haven't seen anything like that on a Bluebonnet.

  • Thanks. i saw that unit 3 or four times. :D

  • I was at the San Dimas museum but had to leave early. The Desert Wind never operated over the 2nd District. Pasadina said no to diesel electric trains & wanted electric trains. I think it works out better for Metrolink.

  • >The Desert Wind never operated over the 2nd District.

you sure about that? there's pic that desert wind stops at Pasadena depot. You can google it and see what do you think.

  • WoW, nice catch. Intresting logo on the lead unit. BNSF logo?

  • Thanks. Yea, that is BNSF logo.
