Only played FF7,FF8,FFIX and FFX....I loved every bit of 7. FF8 is my 2nd favorite ( I hated it at first because it was so different from 7, but once I understood junctioning, this game became EPIC!) I liked FFX because of the power and lack of waiting between moves, but Tidas became so annoying after awhile. And then there is FFIX.....only played through it once and that was enough! I hated that battle system and where dafuq did Necron come from??
I was somewhat expecting X-2 to be here instead of X. I mean it has the same quality as X but with a bonus of the changing jobs. I understand that we have different views though. XD
Also, I somewhat disagree with XII being that high I mean yes the graphics and gameplay were nice and all but I wouldn't say it was a very good DS game...

When you said that we can't disagree with you on FF7 being the best I immediately said that I very much can. I absolutely DESPISE FF7, the story was average at best, most of the characters sucked (yes including Cloud AND Sephiroth), the game was too easy, the soundtrack was horrible by FF standards (especially compared to FFX and FFXIII). Why the hell do you have to hold down a button to run in FF7? Is there a way around that? Recently downloaded it from PSN and the sprinting bugs the crap outta me, since you gotta do it while moving around with the dpad :(
@26Frantik no im pretty sure its a game considering its on playstation 3 and xbox 360, and if its an interactivemovie then so is ffx ad ffxii and ffxiii-2. and i would rate it better than most of the final fantasy's, on my list its 2nd best
@26Frantik It's got the two of the best elements in any FF game; battle mechanics and storyline. Plus I think it's great that there's more linearity. Sure it can feel like you're going in a straight line, but it's better than spending 30 minutes searching for something in order to progress.
Let's all know here that Top Tens for Final Fantasy shouldn't even be done. Their main point is story, not gameplay. It's really just what stories people like best.
Top Tens can be done for action games and the like though, because it gives people a good idea of what has fun and smooth gameplay. You can't do that for Final Fantasy.
@IMadeAllThese I have played the game all the way through and I have beaten it. So I can I have played it. It is overrated in my opinion because it gets more acclaim and attention than other games in the series that I think are much better like IV, VI and IX.
too much swearing and i dont agree with most of what he says. my top ten (from first to last) are: 12, 7, 8, 10, 9, 6, tactics, crisis core, 5, 11. this may be a reflection of my generation but i struggle to enjoy the early games because they are ugly, slow and the UI is crap. also FF13 is terrible
People who hate 7 are just plain wrong. it set the precedent for the series. when people play 10 or 13 and say "this isn't anything like how a final fantasy game should be", they're trying to say it isn't like 7 anymore.
Listen, they all have their strengths and weaknesses. None of them were perfect, yet all of them have have at least ONE redeeming factor. Let's just say it's been a good run. :)
I'm sorry, but I think that FF XIII shouldn't be on this list. It's alot of fun, but it's really nothing more than a long interactive movie. FF IV should have taken its place, or even been moved lower down the list. FF I and VI definitely deserve to be where they are though.
They should remake FFVII think about it, it's the best one they have ever made and all the people who played it when they were younger would buy it for the memories and all the people who haven't played it would want to play it because of the history.
I've tried FF Dissidia, and i loved it ! Is there any FF games witch is similar ? Wow, the first FF game I played was the one with the girls, YUNA was one of them, it was so bad that I don't remember the name, but it was on PS2. After playing that I said to my friend that FF really sucked, then he told me about FF7. I just love it! really great, interesting story

It's really hard to do justice in calling a game overrated because the general term means it's loved by most, hated by few.
Now it's very easy to name off underrated games because many great games can just go under the radar.
@IMadeAllThese Now to give examples: If I had to name off an overrated game, it would probably be Black & White. The game was extremely hyped up due to just what it looked like and the idea the game gave out prior to release. The actual release didn't deliver though.
One of the most underrated games would be Shantae. Barely anyone knows it; those who do love it. It's one of the best games around, but was unfortunately missed by most due to its cover and time of release.

Heres my top ten: 10: FF XII 9: FF VIII 8: FFVII 7: FF IX 6: FF III (original) 5: FF V (game was confusing at times) 4: FF Tactics (I know, not techincally part of the main series, but hell, it was good) 3: FF I 2: FF VI 1: FF IV This is my list, and Four is the best IMHO. The reason is that it revolutionized the series and paved the way for mainstream RPGs in both Japan and the US. XIII is stupid and X features the WHINIEST main character EVAR! Final Fantasy VI is simply the best. VII was great, but slightly over-rated. X was phenominal, but FFVI was simply the best one they ever made. I honestly don't understand all the hype over final fantasy 7. i started playing it and it had some interesting points but it never once compared in any way to some of the later games. People tell me that it is so loved because it was the first 3d final fantasy game. even still I don't see why it should be even in the run up for the ((best)) final fantasy game. I've tried FF Dissidia, and i loved it ! Is there any FF games witch is similar ? (I tried FF VII, but I they don't look anything like the movies, I cant't frikin run or go faster than 0 mph ! and the X button means back and the O button means select, I think the game is pretty annoying). PS: I wanna play on PSP or PC.

Wow, the first FF game I played was the one with the girls, YUNA was one of them, it was so bad that I don't remember the name, but it was on PS2. After playing that I said to my friend that FF really sucked, then he told me about FF7. I just love it! really great, interesting story

@Jostra123 I find your statement false, some people who played it wasn't their first FF game if they don't like 7. It is overrated because it is constantly talked about all the time. It shows that a one game FF fan isn't going out of it's way to try something different so they might as well consider it their favorite game. Oh and the people I come in contact with only know the FF7 characters because of Kingdom Hearts. *sighs* Very frustrating.

@halodystroyer44 Well, anyone can just say they've played the game. It's certainly not overrated though. Overrated means something that doesn't deserve its amount of fame. FF7, along with all the FFs full well deserve the large amount of fame they have.
It's really hard to do justice in calling a game overrated because the general term means it's loved by most, hated by few.
Now it's very easy to name off underrated games because many great games can just go under the radar.

@IMadeAllThese Now to give examples: If I had to name off an overrated game, it would probably be Black & White. The game was extremely hyped up due to just what it looked like and the idea the game gave out prior to release. The actual release didn't deliver though.
One of the most underrated games would be Shantae. Barely anyone knows it; those who do love it. It's one of the best games around, but was unfortunately missed by most due to its cover and time of release.

@jed51501 Wrong. For the Final Fantasy series, this is the rule for most: The one you played first is your favorite. Most people's first Final Fantasy at this point in time is 7. It just doesn't help people's opinions that Advent Children was released (the main reason 7 is named as overrated.)

Final Fantasy VI is simply the best. VII was great, but slightly over-rated. X was phenominal, but FFVI was simply the best one they ever made. Contrary to popular belief, there were video game consoles prior to the release of the Sony PlayStation. And there's no mention of FFIV, which makes this list hax anyways. Try again please; this vid has 'Epic Fail' written all over it,and every true fan knows it.
