You're quite right. Many systems including the Monetary System - are unable to carry forward indefinitely. I simply offered an escape plan for those entrepreneurial enough to take it.
All necessities (housing, food, transport, and utility) must be non-profit and free to all volunteers. After necessities, capitalism can rule. Taxation/license are impossible - they create poverty. Business would explode if the above are implemented. If not, then regardless of everything, taxes, and necessity costs will rise above desperation, because that's how banks make money, and they make the rules. Read "The DOOZIE" amazon by g huckleberry.

My guess is that it might have something to do with that massive ball of 'fire' being further away from us in the winter (and on the other side of the world during the night) and so alternative sources of heat need to be found during these times. Do you HAVE to pay for them? No - you could scrounge dry leaves, sticks, etc. and make yourself a fire if you had the skills. What you pay for isn't the warmth - it's the convenience.

It is a so much more costly in maintenance and back up systems for when the sun is blocked by cloud which in some parts of the world is lots. No one would invest there would be no growth in the economy you would never be able to get a mortgage, and you would have mass deflation which was the prime cause of the great depression. All necessities (housing, food, transport, and utility) must be non-profit and free to all volunteers. After necessities, capitalism can rule. Taxation/license are impossible - they create poverty. Business would explode if the above are implemented. If not, then regardless of everything, taxes, and necessity costs will rise above desperation, because that's how banks make money, and they make the rules. Read "The DOOZIE" amazon by g huckleberry.

My guess is that it might have something to do with that massive ball of 'fire' being further away from us in the winter (and on the other side of the world during the night) and so alternative sources of heat need to be found during these times. Do you HAVE to pay for them? No - you could scrounge dry leaves, sticks, etc. and make yourself a fire if you had the skills. What you pay for isn't the warmth - it's the convenience.

The "correct solution" is to profit from the crash. You can do this only if (like me) you do NOT live in the US. In some countries, businesses can obtain credit denominated in USD. So go get the biggest, fixed rate loan you can AS LONG AS it is denominated in USD. Use it to purchase real assets like silver. Later you will be able to repay your USD loan easily - because it will be like borrowing dollars and repaying in pesos. Their currency will be worthless.

No one would invest there would be no growth in the economy you would never be able to get a mortgage, and you would have mass deflation which was the prime cause of the great depression. They are lying to us to buy more time in order to transfer as much of their paper assets into gold and other real assets. The more time they buy, the more wealth they transfer from you to them. Eventually the currency will be devalued more and more faster as it's inflated to pay the debt burden, and consequently unloaded by foreign banks. After it collapses a new currency will be created. I completely disagree. you saying nobody would be motivated is an assumption. Right now the leading motivator of every person on Earth is money. Venus talks about the leading motivator being morals. It is far easier to work doing something you enjoy, saving the human race motivates my ass. Lazy wouldnt happen. And if it did that person would be socially isolated.

If people are lazy then they should not be given the life sustaining goods to survive- plain and simple. Capitalism and abundnce produces lazy people not the Venus Projects'.

Why shouldn't the Africans decide we are the ones that should die? Who is going to execute the billions you advocate? How do we ensure a "You're coming with us" philosophy isn't enacted by the "lesser beings"? How many Americans will also be killed to ensure this system, do you believe your life is valuable enough to join project Venus? Won't work.

@shamz0rz I don't know of which hypocrisy you are speaking. Nobody "decides" who lives and dies. We just allow people to die without helping them. For example- the United States should stop giving aid to every country tomorrow. How many Americans would die....I don't know.....maybe 10 million. At some point about 3 billion people (give or take a few hundred million) will have to die. This will happen when oil runs dry. In the venus society, we would have a handful of top scientists from the US/UK/Japan/China/Germany. Every other country could be written off,all of africa, south america, would have to be killed. We can't just tell them to stop living and die, they would fight for their survival and live. Venus would call for genocide on an unimaginable sale.

@shamz0rz You are making false accusations. I, to a certain extent, call for mass death. The Venus Project not only does not call for mass death, they do not come close to asking for genocide. Nature has nothing to do with genocide-only death. You are mixing emotional conjecture type of words with factual data. From what I have observed the Venus Project does not even touch population control-although population control is a major part of sustainability. Stay away from ideology and emotion.

@Jeffersonwazright Emotion is the driving force of humanity, it drove us to leave the caves and build societies together. It continues to improve medical, educational, and social standards. Without emotion, we would still be hunting our food and living quietly alone in our caves. We would be a culture void of art, media, music, and likely the internet. A mass of statistics, where the weak is culled. Sorry but I can't say that is a better alternative to what we have now. Emotion is can't be lost.

When and how consciousness (intelligent emotion) evolved in humans was the day the earth put up a white flag. Humans are and still will be the cause of an incalculable amount of unnecessary pain and death on this rock. It is very unfortunate that 99% of humans are a virus. But the world would be poorer for it, and our souls would be stained. If you want to look at people who threw emotion to the wind, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Pol, these are the men who's paths you're following. Venus statistically works, but breaks down when it comes to real human brotherhood.

Venus covers many elements, but fails to incorporate the human element. Numbers and statistics go out the window when human emotion is involved. It's safe to say that you and I are both better off than most people seeing as we have time to debate these issues rather than working slave wages in a poor country. We're going to have to agree to disagree here, I can't see venus as a viable alternative. I will easily admit what we have isn't working as well as it can, but I believe we will continue to tweak it as we have over the life of our nation.

@Jeffersonwazright Also, the pendulum is extremely far to the right at the moment. We're actually debating defunding the EPA and other programs meant to sustain the earth. Outrage is growing though, European citizens understand the problems with our planet, as do liberal americans. Once the public opinion of America shifts clearly to the left we will see a revitalization of conservation efforts and private sector investment in clean energy and recycling. Hopefully it will be soon enough.

Do you really want to live in a society that turned its back on the poor in the name of technological improvement? A society that would simply by its roots HAVE to ignore the problems of anyone but its best and brightest? Venus is a statistic society, but the human "soul" is more than just numbers and theories.

But most of all I will get busy doing what ever I can as a citizen to determine in what ways to work towards bringing this to an end. Mails, blogs, letters, faxes, marches, protests whatever it takes short of violence is what I am willing to do to help save this country for my children.

It's done, jump on hard assets especially gold and silver to prepare. Also, keep food, weapons and ammo because with this type of decline there will be some rough times. Hell, I bought a chainsaw last year and I've been stocking up wood like crazy. Just do whatever you can.
