It's funny. I taught myself this song by listening to this version because it as the best I could find on YouTube. I had, of course, heard the original, but I didn't own it. I just listened to it again & realized how horribly off-key she is. I noticed it before, but I didn't realize how bad her mistakes are. I also learned the monologue from this, despite her total lack of emotion. Yet I can sing/act this very well... (Her dancing is dreadful as well, but I'm a lousy dancer, so I can't talk.)

I agree that this was a poorly casted part. I think part of her problem, because I picked this up a couple times, is it feels like she almost needs to switch into her head voice and is not in the right range singing wise. I didn't think the actual dancing was horrid, but I'm a singer not a dancer. And the acting felt scripted I agree. I can relate to this character and I don't feel her in this actress.

It reminds me of an anecdote from a friend who once directed a community theater production of 42nd Street in which his "Anytime Annie" had one arm. Imagine the arm movements on the timesteps in the audition scene. Now that he works on Broadway, he can laugh about it.

No, I am not saying that large women can't be in musicals. What I am saying is that one does not usually see 250 pound women in "A Chorus Line". It's a little hard to image her at a Broadway DANCE audition. My guess is that you've never been to a Broadway dance audition or you would understand.

There are indeed some women her size in Broadway musicals. They just are not chorus dancers (or any kind of dancers!).

I'm not quite sure what "sized too" or "gotten far" mean, but if these "plenty of dancers" are as big as our girl Sheila in this video, my guess is that "gotten far" doesn't mean a resume with Broadway (or even Equity or non-Equity tour) chorus dancer credits.

In fact, if they are anywhere near as big as this girl, they would be TYPED OUT before even learning the combination.

This is not just my opinion honey, it is FACT. If you intend to work in theater, learn the ropes.
