  • this is a shitty ass video. i wana kno how to spin the nuncheck in one hand. u didnt show it

  • im finding this really hard im unsure how this is begginer material?

  • Nunchuks and Motorhead !

  • I like how you setup this tutorial. Check out my nunchakus tutorials as well for something VERY Different. Thanks!

  • the one with the figure 8 is pretty easy to do with one hand, but my taekwondo nunchunk number 8 you have to do taht with both hands and control it well. god its hard x.x

  • the nunchaku doesnt grab on the top dude

  • it's a nice tutorial video but u got one thing wrong....the nunchaku is never to be held on the top...the best position to hold the nunchaku is a little below the center for more movement....it was a nice video nevertheless....just keep this in mind

  • SLow MOtion plz>..lol.

  • This helped me alot.

  • it's good....but the music is bad

  • Harmless...but can cause injuries. that ain't harmless

  • @LiveAnimation1 it says the nunchaku SEEM harmless but in fact can cause harm, not, they are harmless

  • only one thing that could be improved, get a better cam lol, otherwise it really helped, and the song wasn't that bad looooooooooool

  • if u were a beginner y wud u make a tutorial??

thumgs down for the lack of experience

  • @jcash365 they aren't street legal in California and New York which is quite ridiculous since guns are legal.... once you know how to use them properly "as a weapon" many things could be used as a nunchaku

  • now i can pretend to kick ass in my videos!!

  • cool video, but last time I heard these things were not street legal.

    could be wrong though.

    anyway, good video!

  • @ ~50 previous comment: read the description, never intended to use them for fighting. Many people said I was showing off or hold nunchakus the wrong way. I just held them the way I wanted. Always knew for efficiently using them in a fight you need to change the grip, easy physics.

This video was made for bloody beginners only and I admit I was also one at this time. Anyway my attention was to share some stuff to help. My later freestyle videos actually helped many guys.

  • Spot On Man!!!

Reitorate What Most Just Said - Clarity And Execution Awesome!!!

    Peace Man...

  • bonjour jaime bien - super !

  • nunchaku and motorhead ,awesome

  • This is the most excellent nunchuck tutorial on Youtube. You break it down into simple moves that anyone can do with a little practice. I also liked how you showed every move from the front and the side for extra clarity.

  • im confused with the beginning how should you move your wrist?

  • @tvbcouchpotato777 Doing what move?

  • as far as technique goes depend if your doing formal or freestyle this is freestyle

  • thanks for the effort , theres so many people who dont even learn martail arts but have passion on it , at least , the skills be shared by the world

  • dude thanks alot!!! this gonna help me :D

  • your name is about me:) im nunchaku freak love the nunchakus:D

  • hahah your shit mate i would destroy you

  • this is great for the flashy stuff, but as far as attacking this is horrible. to someone who knows what they're doing, you're just a kid flailing around some sticks. for starters, you need to hold the nunchaku farther towards the end, with about a half-inch of wood sticking out from the bottom of your hand, heargo youll get more power from that, not to mention range, and when you catch it over your shoulder, you need to be at a 180* angle. but other than that, good job for teaching yourself

  • @icannotfalter nunchucks are for flashy moves who would use these in a fight id own ur ass with a bat and u would be tryin not to hit ur self with ur own weapon

  • @seccfiend It doesn't take much skill to hold the nunchaku with one kun in each hand and make a horizontal swing, aiming to break you hand or fingers that grip the bat, after that, you can hold them in one hand both in a club fashion and then just pound away, but of course, this depends on the skill of the people, not the weapons

  • @icannotfalter I'm guessing you read the description first before posting, right?

  • @kcorr94 Dude, I can't even remember, that was one month short of a year ago...

  • you guys are dumb. holding it closer to the chain is the proper tech!

  • Ahh the classics, the mighty Motorhead. Keep swinging those chucks. :-) You need to iron out a couple of things though. I think you move your hips and shoulders too much in anticipation of hitting yourself. I do that when I'm learning a new technique but it's the first thing I fix before I speed it up.

  • appart from the fact that thats actually proper technique

  • Thanks FOR SHARING!

  • you need shorter and lighter nunchaku....Its to heavy and big for you

  • I think you need to focus on your over the shoulder passes. You can see from this video that the shoulders tilt when passing above/over the shoulder. I like to make it a point when doing over the shoulder passes, that the passing arm come up with the upper arm to 90 degrees. This gives you greater range of motion in passes and, as a result, allows you to re-direct the chucks in a greater range for this type of maneuver. This also increases your striking potential for maximum delivery.

  • FUCK, i think i jus broke my balls!

  • awesome now i want to learn nunchaku by the nice song mate by moorhead

  • do you have other video of nunchaku=? this iis great. and i understand at all--- i`m sorry i dont speak inglish well.. i from peru-- congratulation for the video.. 5 stars--

  • calling THAT a kata should be illegal -.-

  • hey, and the legs??? are you teaching people to use the weapon without showing the correct bases? keep in mind... you won't learn karate or kung-fu in the net, pals!

  • This way the end is not flailing around dangerously close to the user and the affective range is increased. The changes arent bad but this is not something you should learn as a beginner, hand position, pressure of the fingers and basic up and down strikes are all that should be taught before moving on to this kind of stuff. I dont have a problem with this guy or what hes doing I just think its irresponsible to call it a tutorial as it doesnt start with the basics and is fundamentally incorrect

  • Actually there is quite a lot wrong with the technique, if you dont want to dont take my word for it look at some professional videos on here. My main issue is with the figure 8, swinging the striking end around the base is wrong, the momentum should be in the striking end and the chain straight throughout the strike, the weapon should be used as if it were a stick. Its the body, arm and rotation of the wrist that generates power.

  • man u suck!! ur not teaching anybody ur front strike is pretty much the L strike but way too high. ur not turning ur body as u move so ur just gonna beat up ur body. ur chuck link is WAY too long its suppost to be as long as ur hand wide. u still need a lot to learn i can tell be ur "hand switch" alantholland is right whoever sees this DO NOT COPY HIM and the figur 8 is not a block

  • i am wanting to start is it a good idea for me to get foam nunchucks

  • nah just buy the real deal... you wont hurt yourself

  • what's the song's name dude??

  • Posting stuff like this is really irresponsible as showing people the wrong way to use the weapon and calling it a tutorial means they will probably hurt themselves. Please dont copy this its just a guy who has taught himself to fling nunchaku around dangerously. Dude we all want to show off, and thats cool but dont tell people to copy you when you don't know what you are doing.

  • You dont get it, do you?

  • There is nothing wrong with his technique. The video is good for beginners.

  • well why dnt u post a vid in tht case and show off how great u rly are?

  • CRAP!

  • @TheLibertard It's the basics. Not advanced skills.

  • Alright buddy, but it seems you're like every beginners in Nunchaku practicing => you only use your usual arm !

The most problematic in good Nunchaku practicing it's be as good from the right than the left arm !!!

But thanks for your video, I see that I'm not as bas as I think when I'm watching this sort of videos... Cheers man ;)

  • VERY VERY HELPFUL!! THANK YOU!! its just what i have been looknig for!

  • ... ?? very lol

  • In a rigid position like that, a nunchaku becomes only a tool, not a part of your own body...

  • Very GOOD!!! Great for beginners!

  • It's very easy ...

  • this video is the best !!!!!!!

  • hey dude thanks for the vids, learned all the moves in like 2 weeks lol. and wer do u live? coz i live in australia,NSW and i need to get myself new nunchakus, coz my old one broke :( but i looked it up on wikipedia and it said its on the restricted weapons list and you cannot get it without a permit. Where would i be able to get one? or is there a martial arts i can start with nunchakus?

  • Everyone holds it too close to the handle!

  • Simply for easier control. Seems smarter to hold it closer to the handle as a beginner and move lower as you get better.

  • For control over power

  • Yeah, these are pretty good moves for beginners, nice video.

I wanna know if u can do them only with the right arm or can u use the nunchucks with the left one as well?

  • you use both as a rule to give stability to your attacks. remember that this is a vid for beginners.

  • Oh, you're right. I'm sorry... ;-)

  • nice vid man.! i don't like the video quality but nice skills

  • Man don't listen to negative comments. Your moves are clean and sharp. Sure, they're basic, but you said from the start you're showing only the basic stuff. And infact, if you look at the "cool guy" nunchuk videos on youtube they're actually just doing the basic moves too, only very fast. It looks blurry on youtube so people think they're doing more complicated moves then they are in reality.

You're doing a great job and it's useful for those wanting to get a good start with this art.

  • agreed

  • Good video, Shows the movements very clearly, but has one MAJOR MISTAKE, you grip the nunchakus too close to the chain and it should be completely opposite, although it gives you more maneuverability, the nunchaku is a very short weapon by itself and you have to get as much reach as you can with it. Watch Bruce Lee.

  • he's using it as an art device. a similar analogy is Wushu compared to traditional kung fu. Wushu is martial arts using alot of flowery movements. Looks pretty and cool w/ all the flips. Traditional kung Fu = straight to the point designed to take out your opponent.

Both can still be lethal, but one is practiced for fun, health, an art while the other is practiced for health and self defense (usually in the street)

So for more control to make fun/cool tricks, he holds close to the chain.

  • Dude!!! wtf is this.. do you even know how to use Nunchaku. When you do the 8 move its a defence. not attack and when you swing it around your body you should never hit yourself, never hit yourself .. For everyone out there. Train weapons from a real Master from a dojo. so you learn it correctly. its for the best.

  • ..hey dud no offense but that vid is for children who wants to learn the BASICS of nunchaku...im not bragging about my skill but i think im a lot better and faster than u...

  • You need to start somewhere. I just bought my first pair of chucks and this instructional video is excellent for my needs.

Who cares that you are more advanced, someone will always be better than you. Lose the ego, internet hero.

  • hey man where can i buy a good pair from, because i made some at home and i want proper ones now.

  • just get some off the internet, if your UK i recomend BLITZ sports, just google it and click weapons, nunchaku.

  • jet li can own u with his wushu nunchaku skills :)

  • i dont think the nunchaku has ever seemed harmless..

  • thanks dude for the video.

  • I just got into nunchaku, and this was a very helpful video thanks.

  • sweet video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • your fuckin stupid bro.... why dont you read the description of the video nunchaku666, what a stupid name, i bet you cant do half the stuff he does in this video.

  • you're a fucking idiot, there are elderly martial arts masters who can't fight with nunchaku anymore, does that mean their advice is wrong too? who cares how flashy his fuckin shit is, the form is wrong and bottom line is he'd get his ass fucking whooped in a fight and he'd fail miserably in a competition. if you're so stubborn as to not be able to take healthy criticism and improve yourself, then you may as well stop taking martial arts. Even Bruce Lee got advice from a teacher at some point

  • everyone uses bruce lee as a standard when nunchuku wasn't his preferred weapon, if you knew anything about this weapon, you would understand that there is more than one right way to hold the weapon, there are different styles and techniques, no technique is right or wrong, just like with a sword, there are different forms, why don't you research something before you open your stupid mouth

  • wow moron, I meant even someone as great as bruce lee has been criticized, you totally missed the point. it has nothing to do with nunchaku, it has to do with your ability to take criticism. if u got a problem with lee, then fine, even Hidehiko Ochiai, Miyamoto Musashi, and Mikio Nishiuchi got criticized when they were learning. btw i'll give you $1000 and kowtow if u can find a form where the nunchaku isn't held at the very end but at the top instead. u do some research before u mouth off.

  • how old are you like 5? don't get your panties wet, and cry to mama cuz someone pist you off on youtube.

  • lol already turning to childish insults? i think i've proven my point here.

  • haha always gotta have the last word huh, its cool bro... you win, your the nunchucku MASTER. everything you say must be right huh?

  • Comment removed

  • the reason for this is becuase my chain is too long and so i cannot catch the nunchaku's properly.

  • you see i have nunchaku's and as i am new to them (well 6months ago i was) i wanted to get teh foam one's. my dad said no you dont want that heap of shit. get the wooden and so far i have cracked my head on them from spinning them around more times than i can remember. yeah the foam one will sting like hell. try cracking your head on some wooden one's and the sting will feel like nothing.

  • This guy's a moron

  • Don't listen to that moron. Your video was very helpful. I guess some ppl don't get what you were showing. I did, thanks!

  • Try using foam nunchukus when starting out. They minimise hurting yourself and you wont have to spend money buying things around the house you accidently broke. I've just started kickboxing around 2 months ago and will start using nunchakus in a separate class.

  • hey im just starting with nunchuks so thanks for the vid! but with that front strike.., is there a technique when you bounce him at your back? because i use soft nunchucks but i can imagine that it hurts if you use harder nunchucks. you got some tips for me? thanks!

  • You guys ever heard of practice nunchakus made of rubber:P.

  • i have foam ones and they still sting like hell!

  • Nice video

  • dude the under arm fling up thing hit my ear really hard

  • I don't know the real names, but I learned the back switch and the rear hip switch on my own (back switch = like the arm switch, but behind you; rear hip swithch = swing it around your butt and grab with the hand on the right side). I can't do the finger/wrist/arm/leg spin, though my brother learned them on his own in a few days with just experimenting. He's still a little sloppy though.

  • lol!!!

im 3rd dan ath nunchakus and i start learning with youtube vids..

if you dont risk you dont live that´s wath i say so stop giving the safety thing so much improtance

  • Sick, do you take a martial art?

  • It's illegal to carry any concealed weapon anywhere without a CCW. Weapons like nunchaku (chucka sticks as they're called in the NY law), as well as saps, billy clubs, nightsticks, etc., are illegal in NY, MA, CA, and AZ primarily because they are effective as nonlethal defensive weapons. Left coast socialism holds that self-defense is immoral, thus one should rely on the police to protect oneself. Of course, they'd love to outlaw our guns, too, but the NRA protects us from that.

  • theres a reason that nunchaku are illegal in new york and katana and tanto arnt

  • Estas bien maleta

  • Hmm, shame you dont have any videos to back you up on that...

But props to you for liking manga xD (Y)

  • Talking that way ,you are NOT a martial artist. Maybe you are in a martial arts school, but when you think you HAVE to show your strenght, it means that you still have a idden weakness inside you, that don't let you stay in peace and harmony ,just as the TRUE martial artists.

  • first of all u bastard i frew up in a shaolin temple in japan and just got a computer a year ago. i have practied nunchaku along with many othewr martial arts that uve never even heard of so before u go running ur mouth in my business think about wat u say! and who are u to talk?

  • Humm, ok. So why did you said that you could rape him in a nunchuku fight? The true martial artists NEVER go and say toNOBODY "hey, you know, i can beat you!" because they learned respect through martial arts, and learned self-control. So, they don't even need to say and show that. They are humble. And that did n't seem humble of you to say that you could beat him. (1)

  • You, just find some advanced martial artist who would say that. You would n't find. They are humble, because they learned it. And its weird, that you went to a Shaolin temple and all that(that i respect, and even admire so much..) and you say things like "hey, i can rape you! " . (2. END)

  • hey, btw theres no shaolin temples in japan LMAO, shaolin is in china, lol. next time make sure b4 you say sumthin

  • and before you go running your mouth (lying, should i say?), learn that shaolin monastary is in china.

  • the problem i have it that it hurts as i get the free nunchaku round the back, how do you make it roll round you? are my nunchaku just crap? lol

  • nuchaku are one of the most dangerous weapons to use without proper training and unless you intend to put some serious time into studying the proper way to fight and do demonstrations with nunchaku then dont risk your life playing around and watching poser videos on the internet.

  • keep practicing!!

    Godbless!

    *bow*

  • you should not teach what you do not know, a little improvement before uploading videos to and trains your left hand to move like the right!

  • u suck!

  • Do You Ever Light Your Fire Chucks? Because The Wick Looks Quite Unburnt!

  • good job, you r a good teacher, keep it up, Master Cooper

  • He says his way is unsuitable for fighting.

  • Thanks a lot. Very helpful. Without this I would be flailing around with the pair of nunchaku I just bought.

  • nice

  • Thank you so much! Great vid and really useful!

  • awesome vid!

  • thats my favourite weapon

  • thank you!!

  • thats a sweet looking pair of chucks, are they homemade or what? almost looks like the ends of a pool cue.

  • doesnt it hurt when the nunchaku hits ur back or other parts when it bounces off?

  • it doesnt

  • if you do it correctly*

  • you've already helped me. and nice music, too! motorhead and nunchaka!

  • quit all your complaining out there for Gods sake! the kid did a nice job!

  • if your demonstrating what you have learnt or to show begginers basic movements that thats fine but if not you should show a bit more movement and get into the spirit of it it looks like you half asleep

  • Some of these moves are quite hard to do but pratice makes perfect

p.s like your vid it tells you what you should do for starters really

  • I'm bored by all guy that show awfull moves :

    - never hold the nunchaku to hard : let your wrist move. The palm's hand give the nunchaku direction and strenght. By moving like in that video, you will only get a shoulder/elbow problem if you work too many. (the 2nd problem for newbee, 1st is to not hurt yourself)

  • In contrast to many other critizing comments I have to admit that you're right. Afterwards I'd like to modify the video but that's not possible.

    Thanks for your comment!

  • Thanks for this video, these are the basics moves but everybody has to start by them so thx a lot.

  • Holding it high up like that may increase control my friend, but it will KILL almost all of your power. You need to hold it at the bottom!

  • I'm a new tchaco learner (from brazil)!!! Thanks for your Demo/istruction

  • Very good demo.

  • It all depends on how much time you spend on it.

So if you are better, congratulations!

  • Are those foam nunchakus?

and, whatever kind they are, where'd you get them?

  • They're 14" and made of aluminium.

And of course they are selfmade :)

  • dude ive been using nun chuks for about 2 years and have neva even botherd lookin for a video on how too use them, and everything u just did i figured out myself it isnt that hard lol.. good vid tho

  • Well...it's called "5 BASIC moves" afterall.

  • hehe XD the first text is the most important part... i can tell belive me ^^

  • Thanks alot for these videos. I'm into BJJ so I wouldn't have time to learn this at a normal school without giving BJJ up.

I can't get some of your stuff down though....specifically the last spins.

  • Thanks alot for these videos. I'm into BJJ so I wouldn't have time to learn this at a normal school without giving BJJ up.

I can't get some of your stuff down though....specifically the last spins.

  • Actually, those arn't attacks or anything. But its usually enough to make the attacker run away

  • you are holding the nunchaku in the wrong place, not in the end but in the middle or at the beginning becuase there won't be power in that swing

  • please read the video info...

  • hello you are great . can you teach me other kungfu weapons from beginning.

  • 1) better try different sources, I'm not very confident with other weapons

    2) the Nunchaku does not belong to kung fu - but kobudo

  • the amount of nunchaku you know is nothing . i know double than you. i will show you my videos after few weeks . but you should try other weapons also . they are more helpful and easy to use

  • Marvellous Guide, definetly 5/5 & faved =D.

  • excelent tutorial!! I'm learning how to use this weapon and this is very useful thanks dude!!

  • Amazing!! Nice Tutorial dude!!

  • thanks for this video ;) it will help me to innitiate on this art

  • your quite skilled

  • He looks angry...^^

  • I might have looked angry... but I'm not =P
