The only way I will move on from my manual 370z gear box is if they fit a double clutch gearbox like they did to the new GT-R which is more reliable than the normal auto and the only reason they changed it is because it kept braking with horse power increase. Now the new GT-R has it and costs 20K more...so if they fit that to the 370Z it would be at least 10k more...

@TheThedragonwarrior According to the 370z forum (which is full of manual tranny guys) the 7AT actually is faster. The two main drawbacks other than the fun factor are its harder to drift and you can't launch at 3000 RPM without a new ECU. Other than that I would say the auto is fun enough anyways and you don't have to worry about your legs cramping up.

@therookie93 yeah man. Drove an auto G35, and 2 manual 350z's. I know they're different cars, but MAN, the stick just felt quicker, and ages ahead of autos in fun factor. My stick HR 350z isn't hard to drive in traffic. Clutch isn't too heavy but I have an aftermarket C&F kit

The 7 speed auto in the 370Z is no slouch. It is not a dual clutch system but it gets the job done in sub .5 seconds per shift. With the tight gear ratios you have to get into 3rd gear to hit 60 and then 4th will take you to 120. Best time I have seen is 4.6 seconds for 0-60 and 13.1 seconds for the 1/4 mile in the 7AT. I'll tell you from my personal experience that pulling hard from 2nd gear will scare the crap out of most unassuming passengers! :)

my 370z with me alone in the car (i weigh 168lbs) can do 0-60 in 4.7-4.9 seconds depending on how i launch, weather etc.
