Ahh brings back memories. Gold was the first pokemon game over the last weekend I found it and my gameboy color, so I have been getting back to my old childhood
I remember when I first got the Game Boy Advance... I was so amazed that it lit up, so I would play it in my closet where it was dark *0* Unfortunately, my little brother broke it, so I'm saving up my money for a new one. I can't play my Crystal version anymore :(
Does anyone else think that the old Pokemon games are more fun than the new ones? I feel like they're losing their originality. I was really disappointed by the new Pokemon games. Pkmn White had no variety between towns! D:

Dude, that sucks! I got my Pokemon Crystal game in a trade, like 9-10 years ago (I trade Ruby, since I already had Sapphire). My twin brother traded it for a stupid game (I don't even remember what it was now) and I never saw it again. I was talking to my friend about it, and she said she had gotten the game when she was little but only played it like once, so she gave it to me :D
Um... dude? This is nice and all but Crystal version has a completely different intro and theme song than gold and silver, don't put crystal in the title of the video if it isn't true, please...

For me the oldest games will be the best the new remakes are good too but I was disappointed at some of Black and White's Pokemon names,they could be a little more creative with there work(Trust me,THEY CAN.) and as for PMD...I cried...I want more of PMD.
@pokeemongamez I agree. The pokemon were just weird looking . I've been a fan of pokemon since yellow version came out for the gameboy , and I still love the series but it's just not the same . After gold and silver it all went down hill and it's kind of upsetting to see such a good series go down the drain like this.

Someone who is amazed by the new generations and new attacks, abilities and regions.
Not someone who keeps saying that gen 3-5 suck, someone who loves them too because even though the theme songs from the show are not so good as the first, and maybe the music in the game intro isnt either, its all about how you grow up with it.

The Pokemon franchise is milking every penny they can putting out new stuff (not even good stuff) and I refuse to be apart of it. I am a fan! And if I'm not a real fan because I don't like everything Pokemon just because it is Pokemon (thats the definition of a dick rider) then so be it! @PokeemonGamez im mathew, 18 canada. i liked pokemon red/blue, almost got green and nevr played the original pocketmonsters. i like Gen II the most and liked Gen I the second most. Though i bought Black/white out of curiosity, it was alright. i'll grade it as this:
story- B (The enemy, team plasma weren't bent on world domination but wanted a world like Lance envisioned in pokemon special, but kept uber legendary as the main plot.)
pokemon themselves- C+(Crappy names, almost unoriginal pokemon
@PokeemonGamez I agree with this too a certain degree, i feel that 2nd gen was the best generation for many reasons, so whenever i judge a new pokemon game i quickly look for gen 2 and judge from that, unfortunately the only gen that i feel got close to gen 2 was gen 4 (amazing soundtrack my fave of all pokemon games, imo the best story and it had my favourite team, though i acknowledge rocket is much better)

@PokeemonGamez To me, it depends on the quality of the games, for example, Sinnoh was the first region that they had for the ds and i feel they handled it very well, the graphics greatly improved, the music was better (but this is just a opinion), plus, they started to think of new designs which i think went well (until b/w were they decided to completeley revamp the designs altogether)
1. Most of its pokemon are ugly (Trubbish, Garbodor, Timburr, Gurdurr, Conkeldurr etc)
2. The rivals, Bianca is a Barry wannabe, while most of Cherens lines are just this "STRENGTHSTRENGTHSTRENGTHSTRENGTH"
3. The plot, it was way too predictable, im pretty sure everyone knew that Team Plasma wasnt in it for the liberation of pokemon, and while N constantly complains about hating pokemon battles, he proceeds to battle you 6 times.

the new rivals are great, finally one with the starter thats weak to yours and another one thats strong to yours and the rivals in gen 1 and 2 also only want strength

the rival in Gen 1 was just a natural douche, he insulted you at every turn even after you beat him and always called you a noob, the rival in Gen 2 at first wanted only strength and didnt care for his pokemon at all, thinking they were just tools, but later discovered that loving and caring for your pokemon was the right thing to do

1. The ability to cross into another region, the only game that allows you to do so
2. The addition of new types (Dark and Steel) finally stopping Psychic types from being overpowered
3. The Battle Tower, what i feel to be the standing of the Battle Frontier
4. Moving animations were introduced in this gen and some other stuff
@PokeemonGamez Yes i do, Gen 2 introduced most of those points which now have made themselves at home in Pokemon, Triple Battles/Rotations battles arent given their time to shine, as Hoenn did with Double Battles by having a Gym leader double battle, Wi-fi capabilities were introduced in D/P and of course the Graphics would be better, but are you trying to say the only Gens i like are 1&2? because my fave Gen is 2, while my second fave is 4, plus while other gens introduced new things (cont)

@PokeemonGamez Every gen introduces new things that may be good, but also bad things, like:
Gen 1: It was the starting point, but had a lot of things that needed to improve
Gen 2: Fixed all those things and added much more
Gen 3: Team Magma and Aqua, their aims were dumb, "Oh lets make more land/sea!" and also, why did the Orbs that control the Legendary Pokemon not work?
Gen 4: The best music and story of pokemon imo
Gen 5: Infinite use Tms were completely uneeded (cont)
@blarghblargh5 Also, fail rivals, also it seems like the only improvements they made from Gen 4 from here were the graphics and the characterisation, which even then i feel they tried too hard with all the Gym Leaders because in the end there was only 1 Gym Leader that i thought was cool, and that was Drayden
@blarghblargh5 im sure u didn't evn play ruby/sapphire/emerald and its not dumb at all that the orbs didnt work gen 5 infinite tm use is not completely unneeded i mean lets say you get this great TM psychic and have two pokemon you want to teach it because for both its vital for conquering weaknesses and neither can get the move by breeding or level up etc. i mean then you really have to use it again but there aren't any other methods of getting another BUT u can use it over and over! its great!
@PokeemonGamez Ive played all of the handheld pokemon games, and you cant even tell me why the orbs didnt work, plus, if neither pokemon can learn the move without a tm, they obviously wont be good with the move, plus you can just train another pokemon to overcome the weakness of your other pokemon because im pretty sure most people dont run around using two pokemon the entire time (unless they arent good at the game)

@PokeemonGamez i find it funny that you say im not a fan, when you almost have no idea what you're doing with your pokemon, if Entei doesnt have the ability to learn Flare Blitz, you work around it ,also you seem to be lost on the idea of for some reason having two pokemon learn the same move, when you could do the smart thing and only teach it to one, so that way you dont bunch up on move types and can take on more pokemon. Simple.

The two new rivals are changeling you 24:7 and don't give me "Well that gives you a chance to level you're Pokemon up!" That's what wild Pokemon are for!
@blarghblargh5 defeat one that is a danger to the other one its really stupid and lets say you have a fighting type that has to learn a good dark type move to defeat psychics and a poison type that also has to learn the very same move, you couldnt just let the poison learn it because if the fighting would switch in to the poison, the psychic would beat the poison for sure because of the weakness of the poison type.
@PokeemonGamez Why cant you have another pokemon defeat a danger for another pokemon? are you saying that if you are taking on a Rock type gym you can only use flying types? see, your point is stupid, plus you can have more then 2 pokemon in your party, thats why you dont need to teach a pokemon a move to counter its weakness, because you can have a different pokemon to counter it and have the other one take on other pokemon. much simpler then what you've just said

@PokeemonGamez Then you switch out, and if you have lost all your other pokemon then its obviously a losing battle and you should try again later, or just improve your battle strategy
@PokeemonGamez no you dont, you have other pokemon that can help out your other pokemon so that it smelts the team together, for example: Ferrothorn x4 weakness to fire, the enemy sends out a fire type, what would you do? either switch to your Houndoon with Flash fire to absorb the attack and increase its own attack power, or have your Ferrothorn attempt to take it on with w.e move you use to counter fire types with?
@blarghblargh5 of course i would switch in to houndoom but if you have an alakazam and the opponent switches out a Misdreavus and you would have dark pulse but you would also have a dark type pokemon but the dark type pokemon is near fainting, then you would use dark pulse that's the thing i'm talking about and if you cant understand it then its obvious that you dont know anything about competitive play
@blarghblargh5 no i make a good plan and strategy what pokemon i use, good types etc. and check for movepools and stats im sure you just think ooh a rare pokemon! im gonna catch it because if its rare, im sure its strong!

Why? I loved Silver. It was my first Pokemon game, and I have many fond memories of it. But I'm not going to completely disregard the superb improvements that Gamefreak has made to all the games since.
I like the graphics,wi-fi and wider move pool part,and i agree.
But the ne generation of stupid 8 year old kids are forgetting the originals,and don't realise how good the anime was,they grew up with dawn,and that's just plain sad,D/P was the beggining of the end of pokemon.

I agree to some extent. A lot of kids will never play the originals, but as long as I can remember doing so, I'm fine. And I don't like Arceus either. He looks stupid.

mannn i will never forget hearing this for the first time, its like they try something new, and i was kinda liking it, then its like Bam, they hit you with the classic theme! Its so epic.
Me and my friends at elementary school fell in love with Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal, and everyday until 5th grade(That's when I moved away from them *sob*) We'd always trade in for Mystery gift, And having plain awesome times really. I miss those days..
i disagree 5th gen was the most superb out of all generations good story good pokemon awesomely designed region NOT boring epic characters etc. actually my least favorite gen is gen 2 but it has good music
@kirbyfan1005 Maybe I don't like the 5th Gen because it is very different than any other pokemon games I have played. The routes are crazy short. The battle style is actually somewhat resembles the way pokemon battle in the anime (lots of dodging, simple moves, like tackle, become a lot stronger). Whats more, its is rather high-tech. Not saying I hate technology, but look at the battle screen and notice the high-tech-hexagons. Truthfully, this pokemon game greatly resembles the real world.
there's nothing wrong with ur opinion but the entirely new design...isn't that what people wanted thats the reason why Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire were poorly recognized because it was too similar to Gen I and Gen II
and honestly to tell u the truth i'm really tired of that stupid boring static battle screen in Gen I-Gen IV

I remember when I first got the Game Boy Advance... I was so amazed that it lit up, so I would play it in my closet where it was dark *0* Unfortunately, my little brother broke it, so I'm saving up my money for a new one. I can't play my Crystal version anymore :(

Dude, that sucks! I got my Pokemon Crystal game in a trade, like 9-10 years ago (I trade Ruby, since I already had Sapphire). My twin brother traded it for a stupid game (I don't even remember what it was now) and I never saw it again. I was talking to my friend about it, and she said she had gotten the game when she was little but only played it like once, so she gave it to me :D
Now I just need a game boy >.>;

For me the oldest games will be the best the new remakes are good too but I was disappointed at some of Black and White's Pokemon names,they could be a little more creative with there work(Trust me,THEY CAN.) and as for PMD...I cried...I want more of PMD.

What is a true pokefan?
Not someone who wants to think of only the past games.
Someone who is amazed by the new generations and new attacks, abilities and regions.
Not someone who keeps saying that gen 3-5 suck, someone who loves them too because even though the theme songs from the show are not so good as the first, and maybe the music in the game intro isnt either, its all about how you grow up with it.
i grew up with pokemon diamond and pearl, but no one hears me complaining about pikachu

The Pokemon franchise is milking every penny they can putting out new stuff (not even good stuff) and I refuse to be apart of it. I am a fan! @PokeemonGamez im mathew, 18 canada. i liked pokemon red/blue, almost got green and nevr played the original pocketmonsters. i like Gen II the most and liked Gen I the second most. Though i bought Black/white out of curiosity, it was alright. i'll grade it as this:
story- B (The enemy, team plasma weren't bent on world domination but wanted a world like Lance envisioned in pokemon special, but kept uber legendary as the main plot.)

@PokeemonGamez I agree with this too a certain degree, i feel that 2nd gen was the best generation for many reasons, so whenever i judge a new pokemon game i quickly look for gen 2 and judge from that, unfortunately the only gen that i feel got close to gen 2 was gen 4 (amazing soundtrack my fave of all pokemon games, imo the best story and it had my favourite team, though i acknowledge rocket is much better)

@PokeemonGamez To me, it depends on the quality of the games, for example, Sinnoh was the first region that they had for the ds and i feel they handled it very well, the graphics greatly improved, the music was better (but this is just a opinion), plus, they started to think of new designs which i think went well (until b/w were they decided to completeley revamp the designs altogether)

1. Most of its pokemon are ugly (Trubbish, Garbodor, Timburr, Gurdurr, Conkeldurr etc)
2. The rivals, Bianca is a Barry wannabe, while most of Cherens lines are just this "STRENGTHSTRENGTHSTRENGTHSTRENGTH"
3. The plot, it was way too predictable, im pretty sure everyone knew that Team Plasma wasnt in it for the liberation of pokemon, and while N constantly complains about hating pokemon battles, he proceeds to battle you 6 times.

1. The ability to cross into another region, the only game that allows you to do so
2. The addition of new types (Dark and Steel) finally stopping Psychic types from being overpowered
3. The Battle Tower, what i feel to be the standing of the Battle Frontier
4. Moving animations were introduced in this gen and some other stuff

@PokeemonGamez Yes i do, Gen 2 introduced most of those points which now have made themselves at home in Pokemon, Triple Battles/Rotations battles arent given their time to shine, as Hoenn did with Double Battles by having a Gym leader double battle, Wi-fi capabilities were introduced in D/P and of course the Graphics would be better, but are you trying to say the only Gens i like are 1&2? because my fave Gen is 2, while my second fave is 4, plus while other gens introduced new things (cont)

Gen 1: It was the starting point, but had a lot of things that needed to improve
Gen 2: Fixed all those things and added much more
Gen 3: Team Magma and Aqua, their aims were dumb, "Oh lets make more land/sea!" and also, why did the Orbs that control the Legendary Pokemon not work?
Gen 4: The best music and story of pokemon imo
Gen 5: Infinite use Tms were completely uneeded (cont)

@blarghblargh5 im sure u didn't evn play ruby/sapphire/emerald and its not dumb at all that the orbs didnt work gen 5 infinite tm use is not completely unneeded i mean lets say you get this great TM psychic and have two pokemon you want to teach it because for both its vital for conquering weaknesses and neither can get the move by breeding or level up etc. i mean then you really have to use it again but there aren't any other methods of getting another BUT u can use it over and over! its great!

@PokeemonGamez Ive played all of the handheld pokemon games, and you cant even tell me why the orbs didnt work, plus, if neither pokemon can learn the move without a tm, they obviously wont be good with the move, plus you can just train another pokemon to overcome the weakness of your other pokemon because im pretty sure most people dont run around using two pokemon the entire time (unless they arent good at the game)

@PokeemonGamez i find it funny that you say im not a fan, when you almost have no idea what you're doing with your pokemon, if Entei doesnt have the ability to learn Flare Blitz, you work around it ,also you seem to be lost on the idea of for some reason having two pokemon learn the same move, when you could do the smart thing and only teach it to one, so that way you dont bunch up on move types and can take on more pokemon. Simple.

@blarghblargh5 defeat one that is a danger to the other one its really stupid and lets say you have a fighting type that has to learn a good dark type move to defeat psychics and a poison type that also has to learn the very same move, you couldnt just let the poison learn it because if the fighting would switch in to the poison, the psychic would beat the poison for sure because of the weakness of the poison type.

@PokeemonGamez so you admit that your made up scenarios are a 1 in a million chance of happening, thus makes it useless to have a move to cover the weakness, because you can just have another pokemon cover if for them, also, its not useful to use a tm over and over again because they just end up bunching up on move types, which means you have less variety in your moves which means you cant do so well against some enemies, thus its a bad thing+ its >uneeded<

@PokeemonGamez No you, you want other pokemon that can defend against the weakness so the team can help each other out rather then attempt to fight and faint, plus you have no real reason against why its uneeded except "DOUBLE UP ON MOVE TYPES WOOP WOOP"

@blarghblargh5 of course i have other pokemon for weaknesses but i also want every pokemon to have at least one move against a weakness so that they're not completely lost when another one fainted DOES THAT FINALLY MAKE SENSE TO YOU?

@PokeemonGamez Then you switch out, and if you have lost all your other pokemon then its obviously a losing battle and you should try again later, or just improve your battle strategy

@PokeemonGamez no you dont, you have other pokemon that can help out your other pokemon so that it smelts the team together, for example: Ferrothorn x4 weakness to fire, the enemy sends out a fire type, what would you do? either switch to your Houndoon with Flash fire to absorb the attack and increase its own attack power, or have your Ferrothorn attempt to take it on with w.e move you use to counter fire types with?

@blarghblargh5 of course i would switch in to houndoom but if you have an alakazam and the opponent switches out a Misdreavus and you would have dark pulse but you would also have a dark type pokemon but the dark type pokemon is near fainting, then you would use dark pulse that's the thing i'm talking about and if you cant understand it then its obvious that you dont know anything about competitive play

@blarghblargh5 not only of course i use weaker pokemon but im not going to use farfetch'd or anything you see, when i get a new game i do it simply with fun pokemon etc. afterwards i focus more on battling and leveling and less on the story and sometimes i just start a new game for only runs, or no evo runs im just saying that unlike what you think i plan my team thoroughly

I grew up with Red and Blue. Watching my older brother play.
I played Gold and Silver myself. I was a fan. Crystal was great!
I played and loved Ruby and Sapphire. Got Emerald as well.
I played and enjoyed Diamond and Pearl, and Platinum as well.
I played and loved Black and White, and I can't wait for the inevitable Grey.
I am a true Pokemon fan. Can the same be said for others who dwell on nothing but the past?

Physical/Special split made many more Pokemon viable.
Wifi battles enabled you to battle anyone from miles away.
Upgraded hardware allowed for better graphics.
More Pokemon=More choices.
Gen IV actually had something resembling a story.
The music wasn't as catchy as the older games, but some of it was more epic like the Cyrus/Cynthia music.
A semblance of challenge now and then.

I like the graphics,wi-fi and wider move pool part,and i agree.
But the ne generation of stupid 8 year old kids are forgetting the originals,and don't realise how good the anime was,they grew up with dawn,and that's just plain sad,D/P was the beggining of the end of pokemon.
It also pisses me off on people over rating Arceus.

Me and my friends at elementary school fell in love with Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal, and everyday until 5th grade(That's when I moved away from them *sob*) We'd always trade in for Mystery gift, And having plain awesome times really. I miss those days..

First I got Pearl (weather you like It or not)
Then I got FireRed <3
Next came SoulSilver (best DS Pokemon game, period)
Then Black (poorly designed region and the game eventually just gets plain boring)

@kirbyfan1005 Maybe I don't like the 5th Gen because it is very different than any other pokemon games I have played. The routes are crazy short. The battle style is actually somewhat resembles the way pokemon battle in the anime (lots of dodging, simple moves, like tackle, become a lot stronger). Whats more, its is rather high-tech. Not saying I hate technology, but look at the battle screen and notice the high-tech-hexagons. Truthfully, this pokemon game greatly resembles the real world.

there's nothing wrong with ur opinion but the entirely new design...isn't that what people wanted thats the reason why Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire were poorly recognized because it was too similar to Gen I and Gen II
and honestly to tell u the truth i'm really tired of that stupid boring static battle screen in Gen I-Gen IV
and the sprites are better too
