  • Love the tone that Jack's getting on that bass. Sounds almost acoustic-like.

  • Couple good songs on here, but nothing much to shine about.

  • TV will rot your brain..

  • Was that a fart I've just heard between 0:53 - 0:56 ?

  • @Nguli34689 No, 0:53 - 0:56 is the sound effect of a needle when you slide it across an album.

  • @Nguli34689 Dude, i think your right!!! I heard it too. LMAO!!! XD

  • @Nguli34689 thanks for that awesome laugh. now whenever i hear this song i think of farts lmbo

  • this song is so fucking about today, our over stimulation by our small minds making a carnival of orgasmic exess........love you grace cheers from the lowdowns s.f ca

  • @MrBrianlowdown

    Brian,

This song IS about low passion creatures. Serbian rapper Rambo Amadeus finds this irony in the following lyrics:

    "I am surgeon plastic fantastic,

    I implant turbo tits bombastic,

    polyvinyl-chloride-silicon-elastic,

all good for laic, skeptic and scholastic.

  • I just don't feel like writing anything... Good song though!

  • Jefferson Jukebox, a real find. Thanks for putting on all the early J.A.!!!!

  • odlot he,he nalewka z gibonów i jazda :-)

  • This song is about a dildo (for Grace).

  • Garcia also plays the electric guitar on Today.

  • 0 dislikes...Win for Jefferson Airplane fans.

  • Right when I heard this I knew this was next on my list to learn on guitar and sing

  • Oh, 1967, what a year.

  • TV will rot your brain that 's what the song about !

  • A true "Psychedelic" song !!

  • Mr. Garcia's distinctive sound is definitely on this recording. I never knew that for sure...

  • I love this version song... pure acid song.

  • few people are aware that jerry garcia plays acoustic six string on this number.

  • Wow! Awesome! Thanks for sharing part of the history on this! Mahalo!

  • @cnedwick It surely does have that Viola Lee groove at the beginning, no?

  • @cnedwick i thought he played electric... it sounded like him. then again jorma is no less amazing.

  • @cnedwick he also helped write someone to love. I think he also might have produced it.

  • Hah, Marty rappin'. Good call.

My favorite cut on my favorite Airplane LP.

Calling someone "plastic" in the '60's was a real downer.

  • Balin wrote this song as a ballad to his TV set, that's where the plastic comes from. I prefer the live versions of this tune around '69-70 when Jorma tears it up.

  • @kingsuji so a "plastic" person was pretty much a dead beat right?

  • @ZACKnirvana - no, it's a fake 'hip dude' like Peter Fonda

  • When Marty raps out, he's good. When sings soul songs, hmm, he's worse.

  • this is a very good song, blueeyesofice, I've found this version only, what other versions are there?

  • well jefferson airplane is more of a live band, so there are countless live recordings of this song. if you dont want to search too hard for live stuff check out bless its pointed little head for a good live recording

  • YES!!! Someone finally posted the good version of this song! Thank you, JeffersonJukebox. I heard this on classic rock at work yrs ago and searched for it since but kept finding the other version til now.
