Getting rid of the cords is nice...but now is there a chance for energy transmission from: small devices (micro solar/wind/hydro devices) that convert the DC energy to RF energy. The RF is collected by electric devices and RF collectors in the house/car/etc.

Saw a presentation made by the inventor at the AVS conference in San Francisco, Nov 2006. It's theoretically sound and could have been invented a long time ago, but as the inventor said, there was no real need for it until now. It only works over small distances, e.g. a room. Because it uses the magnetic field component, it is not much affected by metal objects. However, I believe the dependence of resonance on the surrounding dielectric properties will be a killer.

Resonant transmitter/receiver pair might work in idealized setup, such as when both suspended in the air away from any other conductors.

But in real life, what will prevent this magnetic field emitter from inducing eddies in nearby metal objects?

In the book im reading about Tesla (Life and times of Tesla), it mentions that Tesla did infact manage to transfer power wirelessly; He managed to light a bulb several blocks away using his technology.

supposedly he created longitudinal waves or scalar waves which are different than convetional emwaves. this is why he could transfer energy with a high efficientcy. check out the movie the prestige, thats a great renactment of teslas research with the wireless energy transfer to light bulbs.

resonance structures are lewis structure diagrams, but I do believe that this system uses "resonant frequency", not "resonant structure".

everytime someone uses a cell phone, the waves from it destract the bees so they can't find their way home. This kills them eventually... which is why the bee population is dropping. Therefor, the bees don't polinate out plants as much...creating less oxygen and evetually killing us all. (Thats the short vertion). Nice blog, but are cords really that bad?

Seriously, the bee-cellphone thing is pure BS. Only the European <i>Apis melifera</i> is dying off and I think a much better guess is a new parasite because there isn't enough genetic diversity in the inbred populations we maintain in apiaries. Wild bees are thriving just fine and they are the main pollinators in non-agricultural settings.
