  • @jerryse81 Thanks. you can find other vids on ragtime if you search my channel

    Cheers!

  • Excellent.....a real deleight.

  • @yeslist Go to :50 How did you do the finger lick (pick) at :52? It has a nice roll to it.

  • @poop634 notes roll off the third string Bb to the B ringing the second string (B) open.

Think of the tune "in the mood" but instead of hitting the high G note. play the open B on the second string.

    Hope this helps

  • thank you :0)

  • Nice 1 m8y. Right up my street. 5* and Subbed.

  • Thank you

    appreciated :0)

  • thats awesome, i love ragtime!

  • Yep.... G chord (F chord shape @ 3rd fret)

use the open 3rd string and hammer it at the 3rd to the 4th fret.

keep the thumb thumping out the base line at the 5th fret/4th string on the g note

hope this helps it is a syncapated rhythm

  • alrite mate, could you please let me know what your doing on the g after the first d7? 0.49, jus can't get my head around that part..thanks mate

    -Tyler

  • nice one !

  • is there a basic chord progression that you´d say is typical for a ragtime song

because i ve no idea about music theory, but i just loooove ragtime and would be very happy to know^^

    thank you

    like your playing a lot

  • love it

  • well done mate

    thanks

  • Thanks for the chords but how do you develop this finger pattern?

  • @frenzitti

it is a technique that can be developed from a simple double thumbing patter like thumb plays 5 4 6 4 D7 chord while the first finger plays 3 2 3 2 in a clutching motion.

    5/3, 4/2,6/3,4/2

  • thats real cool. ill give it some practice

  • Thank's, a really straightforward lesson, I picked out a rough version in no time at all. But it would be helpful to have a closer view of the fretboard positions especially for the more intricate parts.

  • Hey Simon from Sidney!

Great little tune man, lovely short presentation of it to teach us lot :)

Really jolly little sound, totally harmless and something that makes everyone smile as they pop along down the street on their merry way!

Keep it up Simon, you've added a lovely little tune to the world.

  • thanks :0)

  • Niice job of it mate! A souped-up ALICE'S RESTAURANT!

  • Dont sound like "Alices" at all - Although

at the same time I dont want to put down your praise for this very nice piece

  • Pretty Great! I'm going to rip it off mercilessly. Thanks!b

  • I got that one from a piano tuner

  • you lost me.... opps

  • I've done this score

  • You go My Friend keep the music coming

  • that was great man ive been wanting to learn this style for ages for my own demented ends, post as many as you can man. i can totally dig this

  • thankyou for your comments....in ragtime music the chords follow the thumbed bass lines: example....the first chord is a D7, (C7 raised two frets/one full tone) the bass on that chord is played 5464 (string number) I am clutching my other two/three fingers(LH) on bass notes 4. so the pattern is basically thumb clutch thumb clutch so the thumb plays on all the beats.

  • Enjoyable video and good playing. I would infer that to you, these chord shapes are fairly common?

Where or how would one learn "ragtime" chord fingerings? I would love to pick up a book or diagram an get a closer look. These are not the simple CAGED/Bar chords obviously.

  • No, It is Suzuki Guitar from the 80's

    It is my best friend...hehe!

It is very forgiving. Always has a sweet sound.

    Have fun!

  • great piece, yeslist, and i like that guitar, looks like my vincente tatay that i bought in aus years ago. is it one,

  • i'll check her out! thanks

  • You have most probably listened to Wilson Rag

by Elizabeth Cotten, check her version out, she plays the guitar upside down, bit like you Ozzies - lol :-) joking!

  • Great playing.

    Nice sounding guitar.

I really wish I could pick something thats simple but very good sounding like that.

  • It's good, thanks. Just one thing, could you get a little more light onto your hands and guitar, it's pretty hard to see them clearly.

Your clips are very helpful, thanks for taking the time. :)

  • Hi Blixzit

I don't do tabs but when you get the hang of double thumbing with your right hand that litle piece is pretty easy.

    Cheers

    Simon

  • I LOVE Ragtime music, and I absolutely love it on guitar. I'd LOVE to learn this little ditty. Do you write TABS of what you play?
