Well, ya, whitetips are what you usually encounter along the coastlines. but there are good variety as you get into deeper waters. Grey Reef Sharks are the next ones you find as you get deeper then the bigger ones like Galapagos, Hammerheads, Tigers. Mahalo & Aloha
I guess what I was asking is should you really expect to see species such as gray reef sharks, and hammerheads with the same regularity in Hawaii as you would in places like Palau or Rangiroa Atoll?
that depends on where you are, in maui waters. if your boat diving then you will encounter more grey reef sharks along with whitetips like Molokini Crater for instance is a breeding ground for Greys. Molokai is a breeding ground for hammerheads. the coastlines of any island then mostly whitetips will come into play. it really depends on currents. they dictate everything.
White tip sharks are sooo cool, wonderfully aero-dynamic, sum1 should design a sports car or convertable based on the white tip shape. cool guitar playin 2
are these at all dangerous...

Isn't it kind of rare to see anything other than whitetip reef sharks in the main Hawaiian islands?
