Damn man what is it with the sound. Maybe your amp? I'm not diggin' it for some weird reason. I thought I would. I got this High end Magnum from the 70's that came with original dimarzios that sounds way better then this. No offense I just expected more which I probably shouldn't.
@ekserchina trust me it must be the amp or the camera. i have a '72 SLM Electra Les Paul, a bit older than the one in the video, but nonetheless my guitar has an amazingly unique tone. you would love it. i don't have a camera at the moment, or a high quality microphone, but when i get either of those things i will show you how that guitar should really sound. there are only 28 2242 super rocks in black ('72 model) that still exist. every electra model is rare, and some are valued over $100,000
@nathan2rock '72 Super Rocks because that was the first year the SLM models were released and there were only a handful that matsumoku manufactured in '72
Hey I am getting a new guitar. I have a friend with a beautiful one of these. I can buy it or a new epiphone sg g400 off of americanmusicalsupply what should i get?
I have one of these.. one thing I had noticed later when I got 'better' guitars is what great full-sounding harmonic overtones the bridge pickup has, it can really create very rich full chords that I have never heard with any other guitar. I think it's down in my brother's basement, but I save it for just this reason. It's actually a little bit shocking to really hear it, it's easily amplifying well into the 6th and 7th harmonics overtones, very rich sounding.
My very first les paul type guitar was an electra with sunburst color. It as a bolt on neck. I realized It was a horrible guitar when I first got an actual Gibson Les Paul standard back in 1980. What a big differencen in play, sound and quality.
I have an early 70's Electra Les Paul, bolt-on neck, but its sound and playability matches or exceeds most Paul copies. I find myself going back to it no matter what other guitars Ive got.
I still have my first guitar, and Electra Phoenix. I still love it but it could use a complete strip down and re-finishing. Could use some new pickups too.
hey wich model is it bcuz i have an electra phenix. mines an xr2 futera or sumthin like that. i really like it tho bcuz its one of there pointy metal style guitars and also the very last guitar they made.
Well, you certainly have the tool there that can make an awesome tone. Leslie West had, in my honest opinion, the very best tone and vibrato in rock history. Check out my page, thegreatfatsbies dot com for some great videos and tidbits of Leslie West in action.
was it a costom? and if so, did the headstock have a strange torch design on it?

@calebthomas28 I feel ya. I figured it would be the camera. Still better then the Epiphone crap they make today.

That's a super rock, right? Does it have the Gibson Custom lawsuit headstock? Nice axe you have indeed!

I have an Electra 2242, one of the bolt ons, and it kills. I've owned several Gibsons, Edwards, and others but the Electra hangs right with them.

Is that one of the bolt ons or does it have a set neck?
sixafraidofseven 4 years ago
I remember it being a set-neck. Most high end, later model Electras had set necks.

Those were the guitars with the "plug-in" effects, right? Do you have any of those? I'd love to hear what the various effects sound like.
