nice idea to work on this classic Parker head. You should give a listen to some of the older jazz players , guys like Kenny Burrell, Jim Hall, Wes Montgomery, for ideas on phrasing.
You might find also that by using your fourth finger on your left hand, you can increase dexterity (reach more notes faster) and mobility (span more notes) . Spread out your hand and play one finger per fret. Get a copy of the Berklee guitar book. It is a great teaching guide. Thanks for your post.
