Good morning from NZ, i just made it for the first time this morning. I forgot the parsley and lime. I blended it and it looked like pesto. I started drinking it and looked this vid up to see if I did it right...ahahaa no...I needed to mush it up more....ahahaha too lumpy.
Dr. Oz Green Drink Recipe * 2 apples, cored * 2 big handfuls of spinach * 1/2 cup of chopped parsley * 1 celery stick, chopped * 1 thumbnail length of ginger root, peeled * 1 lemon - juice only (use peel slice for zest) * 1 medium cucumber
I love how you say Dr Oozze's lol. You are hilarious. I would look into getting a stainless steel champion juicer. It's expensive but I've had mine over ten years now.
Keep at it! Those are great for you. You probably just might want to adjust the ingredient amounts - for instance, ginger is strong and can easily overwhelm the rest of the drink - to taste. But you keep doing it, and you'll not only like them; you'll also begin to eat more fruits and vegetables.
Your one funny gal...and that song in the background..it's like that song "this is the song that never ends"...lol....Great vid! And btw, I love the swamp juice..hubby and I drink it all the time...I do use the banana for extra sweetness...makes a big difference.
As im wathing this video im laughing because im drinking my green drink at work making faces at my desk. This stuff aint no joke. This is kinda wierd tasting. But it you knock it down in the morning, you wont have to worry about it anymore.. I got to do mine three times a day with ionized distilled water with pH drops added to alkaline my water to 9.
Hey there!! So i made the Green drink today...then after I tasted how aweful mine was (i'm def gonna finish though after all the HARDWORK I put into making it!!) I decided to google it and see if anyone else had a bad encounter...Wow!! I'm not alone. Get this however; my recipe was a bit off: I used the following: 1 cup spinach, 1 fuji apple (de-seeded), 3 stalks celery, 1 cucumber, here's where I went wrong 2 inches of peeled ginger, and 1 lime and lemon...peeled..whoops!! SPICEY indeed!!
I viewed this video on 9-17-08; woman you are too funny (we still did not see your honey drink his fair share of the green drink). A juicer would have made this process much easier. Also, there should have been more beneficial greens in this formula (green vegetables are very powerful in the body - they help a multitude of things; you just won't believe it). Suggestion: Juice some carrots along with your greens (carrots are extremely sweet and they provide added benefits).
Now this is the FUNNIEST!!!! video I have ever seen. LOL it looks VERY much like the stuff my husband and I drink every day. Kudos to you for giving it a try and sharing your experience with us here on youtube!
I have to drink my prev. mentioned vegetable drink in the late afternoon, to me the morning it is so much harder to drink! I might try to add lemon and lime to my other drink, ginger-green tea! Try this: Green tea Pure Cranberry juice Pure Pomegranate juice Ginger to taste (not too much, it can be spicy-HOT) And a little stevia! (Stevia is PERFECT for tea, the white powder version!) I'll try adding lemon and lime to it and report back! Oprah's lucky, she just says "make me this" to her chefs!
I laughed until I cried. I had tears running down my face! What a riot! I too tried this Dr. Oz green drink. Thick... I emailed Dr.Oz and asked him if he left out an ingrediant. I still am waiting to find out!! You made me laugh so hard!!!
In my opinion, a really powerful mixer is better than a juicer, I have both, and a juicer is a pain to clean, my vitamix just rinses out with one drop of detergent! And juicers discard all of that beneficial fiber! Vitamixes are expensive, but they last a long time!
There's probably other mixers on the market that do a good job too like the Vitamix, but believe me, you WILL get tired of cleaning a juicer day after day! I have a good Braun juicer, I hate cleaning it!
How much for the Vitamix? I am eventually going to get it or a Blendtec; although it might be costly, a blender with that kind of versatility and power is an excellent investment that will pay back with health and energy.
My son and I watched your video this morning... your so funny. I think we'll try this also. I'm reading a lot on becoming a vegan and also on RAW FOODS...
I forgot to mention an important ingredient, 2 cups water (I sometimes replace a meal with it, it's very low calorie), otherwise it will be WAY too thick, don't drink it too fast, or you will get an ice cream headache.
For years, I've been sometimes making a drink like that in a Vita-Mix!
Ingredients:
1/4 block frozen spinach
1 or 2 carrots
4 Tablespns tomato paste (no sugar added)
One cup frozen broccoli florets
1/4 teaspoon stevia (natural sweetener)
Now, I'd like to say I drink it two or three times a week, but that wouldn't be true, I'm not that consistent, but for a while I was drinking it every third day, and by gosh it made me feel pretty good!
Okay, so you can use frozen vegetables to make these? Cool; they are probably cheaper than the fresh ones, although they may be slightly less nutritious.
I also Made the green Drink (yuck)! I used a magic bullet, Cut all the ingredients in Half because of the size of the magic bullet, It It looked just like yours. but was NASTY and clumpy!! In the afternoon instead of blending the green drink I choose to juice the ingredients. Wow I loved it!!!! So it's probably true that a high quality liquefying blender would do the trick. Also Adding more apple if you need a sweeter taste is a good idea.
Loved watching your spot. What a trooper, I too was looking for Dr Oz's Green drink, I do a lot of juicing (sounds illegal) then at the health food store I came across Vita Greens, its liquid chlorophill you add to water for the same effect, without the bloating or gas that cucumber may give some of us.
I second the person who said you should have your own show, I was laughing so much through the video. And yeah, I don't think you were supposed to use HALF a ginger root!!
I was just copying down Dr. Oz's Green drink recipe when I came across your video. That was funny. I, too think you should have your own show, and I'm a producer. You have a great personality and you made me chuckle. As a matter of fact, I would be one of your biggest fans. Just do it...even if you don't make any money. You have natural talent and it would be a shame not to continue sharing it with the world. Smootches to you too!
thanks for the video! i've been looking at various recipes and i found a combo that i really like: orange, banana, lots of spinach, kale and cucumber, lots of ice and sometimes i'll use ginger or almonds for a change. the almonds make it creamier and add a nice complexity. i also have a Vita-Mix and it's totally liquid in 45 seconds or so, a really great texture that my old Blendtec just didn't produce. make sure you leave the white pith on the orange - 3x more vitamin c in that stuff!
I just tried making this for the first time and figured, "yikes, this can't be right!" so got online to see if I could see someone else's attempt. Bless Your Heart! ROTFLOL! Thanks for sharing! I'm going to add some honey now...
Cute.... Funny. The key is live enzymes. I wouldve used a real lemon and lime, since a lemon has billions of enzymes. Also don t forget to eat the lemon peel.
haha this was funny...hey pl dont u know ginger is hot, very hot so u have to use only small part of it lol...actualy green smooth is better u can put some leaf spanach or something with aple and banana and thats the really tasty and nice...and help ur body to be younger and stronger
Instead of lemon juice, try Pineapple juice as your base. It makes the drink go from horrible to delicious! Also, A great way to flavor up a green drink and make it even healthier is to add green tea extract that you can get at your local Vitamin Shoppe and the like. Green Tea extract comes in an eye-dropper bottle. I use the Herbsway brand, V.S has there own house brand, too. Usually a 60-day supply. You just put an eye-dropper's worth of the extract in your greet drink and Voila! Tasty Drink!
Thanks for the post... on the show Dr Oz said to use half an inch of ginger, so that's about an eigth of what you used! Hopefully that change would make it taste a bit better.

you might want to try a product called Green Goodness by Bolthouse Farms. It contains spinach, broccoli, and lots of other things that are unapetizing but great for you and it's tasty!
Hi guys! I made modifications after I found more info on. You only use 1/2 inch of ginger root. Also...I add the "soft" things first and liquify and then add the "hard" things. Made it more liquid-y. (LOL!)
To make it more pleasing to taste...I also added a banana. Now I like it!
My husband refuses to try it again so I save the other half in the blender jar and just "re-blend" the next morning adding about 1/4 cup of hot water.
I don't own a blender but do have a PowerJuicer and have made this juice. I loved it. Although I think there is a point about not getting the extra nutrients and fiber contained in the pulp.
Thank you for showing the reality behind making the drink... you were great, and a great sport for doing it in your robe. The juicer may make it "juicier", but it will take away a lot of the necessary nutrients in the pulp.

Why bother with a juicer, want it more liquidy? Simply add in a little water! And guess what? Water is an important part of a healthy diet as well.
BTW, Dr. Oz rocks! He should appear on TV more often.

I think she meant it had too much fiber where as a juicer would only give the juices from all that stuff..which Hey fiber is OK for health too!

rmsolympic1 3 years ago
Yes, I calculated it costs about 75 cents to make per day, since I made this comment I've made it every day (from Aug 9 to Aug 28)
If you use frozen vegetables it is SO much easier because you don't have to wash everything! I started using loose frozen spinach, too, that's easier.
Good luck and good health!
BTW, CreoleInDC, I like the "Witch Doctor" background music, written by the Chipmunks "father"!
