    ?

  • @NeverShoutAllyson It's pretty much impossible to potty train 5 weeks olds. I usually start at about 8 weeks old. Have you separated the males and females yet? Rats are fertile at 5 weeks old.

  • @jorats yes i have separated them (: I just dont want anymore stink thats all thts why i try to train em' Do you still have rats if so how many?

  • What type of rats are the ones with the kinda black head and mostly white body?

  • @ripred93 They're hooded rats.

  • geeze what are you running a rat colony? :)

  • Very impressive setup you have! How many ratties do you have per cage? I want to get some, and I'm definitely getting the Critter Nation. I had a pair when I was younger, I miss kissin' fat rattie bellies :(

  • R they all boys? Their soo cute, espesually the one u were playing with! :')

  • Josh is soooo cute! I wish I had a giant special area for my rats! You're amaaaazing :)

  • Hey! I have had two rats (the last one passed away a few days ago), and I think I have the same cage as you do! It's a really nice cage, in my opinion. Quite big, so they have much space. I love rats! Go on!

  • hi "! jorats" im so loving the rats:D (i have a hamster) but just one question how much did all cost for toys and cages and all? please anser!:D

  • Thats a wonderful paradise for your rats... I am mightily impressed!

  • Your rats like a bit of Level 42 do they??

  • I was wondering what we could get for our two to play. Now I see a lot of the stuff is for birds. How wonderful! Would you fix my office up for ours ;)

  • I'm so envious!

  • i have two rats that stay in a HUGE cage, of course i let them out to play, but the cage is about 6 foot tall and about 3 feet wide (its a circle) and it starts to smell so quick!! how do you keep that whole room so nice and clean and how are you able to clean out that cage that goes all the way to the roof?!?! i want to have a room like this for my babies

  • Are they all spayeed and nuetered?? Omg. o:

And how many do you have? I have 3 :3

  • where do u buy all the toys for them because i want to get some

  • where do you get your cages from?

  • so cute! if i may ask a question though. I have 3 cute little rats (female and different ages) and they love to chew. we give them things to chew but all they want to chew is the things we give them, chords, pillows, pillow cases, blankets, bed sheets etc. we want more rats but want to solve this problem before we get another or before one of the sets the house on fire or gtes electricuted! can you please help!

  • how many rats do u have?

  • I have a rat now, but she is my first, I'm getting another one next month so she will have a companion, but my Izabell looks... I don't know a bit skinnier than yours... I've been making sure she hasn't lost weight since I got her from the pet store, if anything I've made sure she gained weight... Is it not enough or are some kinds of rats naturally chubby?

  • @ToxisGrey I'm very happy to read that you will soon have a buddy for Izabell. My rats are a combination of males and females. The males are a bigger. All mine are spayed and neutered as well. But yes, each rat are unique in body size. Some are long, while others are big boned. Some get chubby too.

  • @jorats that's prooven by my female smudge who is as big if not bigger than most of your males. she's lazy and fat. one day i wish to have a set up like you i have four rats so far all female and when i finaly get my own place i will have a rat room like that :)

  • @ToxisGrey ,

.. companions are always a good idea ..

.. as to size, we have two fraternal twins .. Boris and Dimitri ..

.. Boris is frail while Dimitri is a rather large animal ..

.. Both tested negative for myco and toxo, but the little one seems to have allergies or chronic bronchitis .. we have been managing his condition for almost 2 years ..

  • @ToxisGrey They are fed well. Rats are usually skinny if young. just feed her the same as you do every day. but not too much, CheeseBall, my rat got to fat from that.

  • @al648srobloxvideos Thanks. I got Izabell in June, not sure how old she was but she was full grown by that time and I've been keeping an eye out but all the rats at every pet store I go to seem to be the same size as her and my newbie, Sachi, so I guess I'm not too far off, right? lol

  • And OMFG the second song should so be played at gay bars everywhere!!!! I bet it is hahaha

  • SMASHING PUMPKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

  • did you have planet rock on in the background?

  • why do you have so many Rats?

  • these babies are so cute :) we have two at home, madeline and charlotte, and we love them to pieces! my kids never want for animal affection as maddie loves to tag along anywhere we go in the house. wish more people knew how loyal a rat can be...

  • Used to play with my hand and they loved that one of my rat enjoyed riding or a radio control car and bring everything she could in her cage even found my car keys there one day.

  • its funny how nessie is just determined to get behind that wall

  • HOw long does quarentine take before you can introduce new rat to the family rat. I Have one rat and would LOVE to get another one for my precious pet rat at home. Could I take new rat to VET and would they know if the new rat is good to take home? All I know is I Love rats they are soooo affectionate and smart would love to get another one but just want to be safe. THANX!

  • Great vid & lovely rats! :D

  • im thinking of getting a rat in a few months is it worth trying 2 persuade my mum to let me buy 2?

  • @duckthecool -Hi, Yes, it is absolutely worth it to have a pair! Rats are extremely gregarious and require physical contact in order to maintain mental and physical health. Having more than one at a time, I felt less guilty when I didn't make time to play every day - they have each other to love. Just buy a pair (FF or MM) who are babies together in the pet store. Females are smaller but tend to be more hyperactive. Males are bigger, more mellow, but they do have a musky smell.

  • @duckthecool You should always buy 2 or more rats.

  • @duckthecool yes its worth trying to persuade your mom to by 2 rats are very social animals and they love companionship with other rats my rats are always cleaning each other and sleeping on each other :)

  • I like Davis, he's really cute!!!

  • Omg, this is epic.

I adore ratties and you have soooo many :0

do they just roam free in that room all the time or only when you let them out to play?

I bet that many are a pain to clean

  • what's wrong with the rats that are hidden behind that board? Are they sick or aggressive or something? I just noticed there separated from the other rats when that brown rat was trying to jump in there.

  • @BriannaDawnc There's nothing wrong with them, it's just not their out time yet. Rats that are not properly introduced can become a wee bit aggressive with each other, mainly just scratching at each other, the ones in the cage are protecting their home.

  • jorats, have one of your rats ever died in ur lifetime of having rats? And which of the rats suffered depression of loss? (just wondering cuz i dont know how to deal with it when it happens)

  • hi how much did that rat wheel cost cause it costs £25 at my nearest pet shop.

  • @Sunshine9719 Here, it's $32 CAD.

  • veet veet i love my ratties ^.^

  • i got them a week ago the first from my roomates failed python feeding i guess hercules was too agressive for chronos to eat so he was given to me to raise so i bought him a pal that i named achilles some eco friendly recycled bedding some good rat food supplemented with fresh veggies and fruit (i found they like it seperate from theyre normal food) and a big ass cage that i spent a bundle on totally worth every pennt though theyre soo sweet best pets ever

  • veet veet ^.^ i love my ratties

  • Your ratties are chunky! when i bought my Ollie the first thing i wanted was a chunky rat but she's small. why are yours so big?

  • How many rats do you have? I've got 6 boys and 4 girls =)

  • My pet rat killed my other one... bit his vitals open and watched his guts spill out =((((((

  • @HaloRocks70 this is very unusual. Were they living together for long?

  • @jorats Not so weird, sometimes they do that when the other rat is too sick to live.

  • @HaloRocks70 THATS WEIRD. were they both males? They coulda been all territorial from hitting puberity.

  • like the red tent :)

  • This is my cat's favorite form of TV. He'll just sit still on my lap and stare (with an occasional twitch).

  • Do rats bite?

  • they do but only if you be mean to them like hit there cage or try to pick them up when they dont want to be other wise nope and I know im taking care of two rats in science class lol

  • @stove31619 not if you buy one from a breeding shop.

  • Comment removed

  • I love every single thing bout rats!!!!!!!!! I wish i my mom didnt have cats so we could get a rat : ( I have been asking for a rat for years!!!! And I still dont have one! But my friend does and she is scared of it well I sit there and cuddle it! Face it i love them!!! I bet your rats never get bored ;)

  • isn't it hard looking after everyone? I have 2 rat babies and they are too shy to go out of the cage :3

  • Should I get 2 rats cause I only have one?

  • @samirijojo Yes. Your rat will become depressed eventually and may even develop nervous habits such as digging at him/herself because he/she's lonely. You should get him/her a buddy :]

  • I loved Level 42's something about you playing in the background of this adorably cute video. What can I say, I am a child of the eighties 5/5 stars.

  • haha your rat room is pimp

  • They don't seem to like to be touched.

  • Holàlà, SI CUUTE <3<3.

  • ratoland :) lol

  • jo I love watching all your rats, flea is my fave, he's soooo cute xx

  • okay im so ganna steal ur rats!!! haha jkjk but they are really cute :) and i cant wait till i get older, and get my own place so i can get one! or two!....or 10 haha :D

  • get two, rats are social animals.

  • Wow beautiful rats!!!! :)

  • How cute!!! How many rats do you have. I only have 2.

  • is that a ferret cage???

  • Yes it is. It's the Ferret Nation but I have now switched them all to Critter Nations.

  • Watching your rats bouce and run around makes me smile! I hope me baby dumbo rat (who i just bought home today) will be the same!

  • Go back and get him a same sex buddy! Rats are very social and really need a buddy to be happy and healthy. :)

  • So many ratties! They don't run away by letting them run around loose like that?! I have one boy rat that likes to run away from me and bite me when I try to pick him up to hold him. I'm not new to rodents. I've had pet mice for years and I can reach in the mouse cage and pick up a mouse with no problem or bitting. What's up with my rat? My rat and mice were all bought at Petco.

  • They are kept in the dining room using a type of fence. I use coroplast.

Your rat needs a lot more socializing and playing with. Does he live alone? This can do that to a rat too.

  • Yeah he lives alone. The cage I have for him is barely big enough for just him. Also I figured he would seek all his attention needs on me since there wasn't any other rats. My mouse was by herself a couple times (because her companions kept dying) and she was fine with me and didn't act weird being alone. I guess rats have more social needs.

  • Many people think that rats will bond closer to the human but that is actually loneliness. Rats need to be happy to bond. Also, lone rats need a big cage as well, they need room to run, climb, explore.

  • I nee help taking care of my rat, so if you could email me a full rat care lesson that would be great. Thx

    AnimalLoverAubree@gmail

  • whats wrong with the rats nessy and davis are trying to get?

  • There's nothing wrong with them, it's just a different colony and they come out not at the same time as these guys.

  • ooo ok

  • omg. Me and my three rats wanna move in with yooou! When me and my boyfriend gets a bigger place, i'm so gonna give a room to my boys! <3 Lovely vid!

  • wont these rats breed and you have hundreds of them soon?

  • You are quite right...but all my females are spayed. ;)

  • thats a nice rat crew you have their and you have some really cute ones. your an expert rat picker

  • Comment removed

  • what dont you jsut grab josh and give him a good hug, im share he wont be so scared the nexst times then =]

  • hey jorats,is davis still alive ? and who is now alpha rat in the crew ?

  • Hi! Davis is still alive and in his crew his brother Jorge is the alpha. In the other big colony it would be Jet. :)

  • do you have a rat named ben?

  • I like Davis, Nessy, and Jorge.

  • are they toilet trained, or do they poop everywere?

  • i love rats, there so cute and fuzzy,do thay ever bit much ?

  • It's not common for a rat to bite but there are circumstances like badly bred rats or when very scared and cornered but if your rat is socialized like they should be, they will never bite.

If you do have one badly bred and aggressive, a neuter takes care of that.

  • mah rats nibbled on me(before they died *sniff*)

  • My boy rat nibbles and bites me too... it's very hard to pick him up without getting bit. He even made me bleed a little one :(

  • Does he lunge and bite? He might need a neuter. Or he needs a lot more social time. He could be very lonely.

  • He actually lunges a little bit but doesn't bite quickly. It's more of a cautious slow motion bite. He will follow my finger and open his mouth and touch my finger with his teeth but I have time to move before he can actually bite. The time he drew blood was through the bars, maybe because I tend to feed him that way too. But he does the slow-mo bitting when I actually open the cage, and when I try to scoop him up to take him back to his cage when I let him out in the (dry) bathtub.

  • He sounds like he's a scared little boy.

How many times do you take him out to play with?

  • Well I try to interact with him at least once a day. I was trying earlier to replace his cardboard 2nd floor with a new piece and change his food and he was acting all territorial and slowly trying to bite me. (I guess he never heard of "don't bite the hand that feeds you!"). He also comes out of his cage on his own while the door is open and I try to scoop him up gently so I can hold him and he seems very uncomfortable and tries to look for a way down from me :(

  • If your rat lives alone, once a day is not enough. He needs human interaction and play time for several hours. He's lonely and needs stimulation. Can you take him out and let him run around your bed while you are there for a few hours?

  • i want to get another rat, but last time i got one for my other one they started to fight, and than my first one died. So the second rat i still have is 1 or 2 years old, do you think it would be ok to get another one?, or would mine get jealous and hurt it or the new rat would hurt mine?

  • @XAlex95X get a new one and introduce them in a place where they can have some space like the tub i did when i got achilles and he and herc got along in like 5 minutes though results may vary but it works like a charm reguardless of the time it takes

  • say how high are your plastic rat barriers?

  • They are 2 feet high. I'm lucky though, my rats aren't jumpers. My sister's has to be over 4 feet high, her rats jump the barrier.

  • lucky you! I got the impression my last ones could jump the barrier however hight I built it. I bet they could fly

  • Where do you get your rats from? They are beautiful! look at all those blazed, and dumbos! i wish my husband would let me have a whole room of rats and ratty stufs! lol

  • I get my rats from kijiji, SPCA and other rat rescue organizations.

It took a while to convince my hubby too. lol

  • I know once my big brother got this white lab rat and i had just harvested some lettuce, one day later it was gone, i asked him, and he said, I fed it to my rat, its better to feed it fresh food then that mouse feed. -- next time i get a pet im getting 2 lab rats.

  • wow all your rats are completely hyper!

  • Davis is soooo cute, I want to take him home, the little badger-face.

  • I love rats, they r my favourite animals, we have 6 of them, they r just so loving and friendly, best pets u could get.!!!!

  • Wow, i love rats how many have u got ive got 6 and they r all lovely. they r all getting bigger do u have any idea on were we could get a bigger cage apart from pets at home.

  • How do you get your rats to be so calm when you pick them up? I always pick up mine but he's really panicky. Maybe because he's all alone, I should get him a buddy. :-)

  • Rats definitely need buddies for a happy and healthy life. It really does help them feel more secure as well.

  • ohh The rat at 2:05 is sooo cute!!!

  • Hey, my rat had babies this morning. She's tending to them but they're not all together. Should I move the scattered ones closer to her? One is really far from away.

  • If she won't bite you, then yes, I'd get them all together.

  • She's not biting. I wrangled them up together. But it's hot. =(

I removed her young male roomate but the temperary house is too small so hes in the cabinet. They are just laying around cause it's so hot. Maybe I should get a spray bottle and spritz them. I already put ice cubes in there water dish. Any ideas?

  • How old are the babies?

  • Today.

  • Oh right...

Right now, mom is your main concern, she will do all the work for the babies. Mom needs to have extra protein in her diet right now... if it's too hot the ice cubes in her water will help but there's not much you can do.

The male should never be returned to mom... they will breed over and over again and that is very unhealthy for the female. Make sure to separate the baby boys form the girls when they are 5 weeks old.

  • ha big daddy, my freinds dads jim from the morining show i think. im getting a rat

  • Just wondering why the rats can't climb at their free will since its a rat room.

By the way, are they always allowed out of the cage?

  • I don't allow them up the cage because it's quite high and if they fall, it could kill them.

They are allowed out of their cage 2 to 3 hours a day. :)

  • How many rats do u have because i only have 3 racer is the bigger rat shes older is what im trying to say and patches and speedy are the baby's they are so playful but are rat cage is terrible

we got racer hmmm say about maybe 2 years ago or maybe 1 but we got the baby's 1 year ago i think lol

they all r really cute and they r girls too. ^^

  • this makes me miss my boys

  • So, I tell the guy at the pet store I want two Male rats. He says the tank only has Male rats in it. I figure the one rat just has small nuts. A weeks later I see the one with the bigger nuts humpin the other one. Turns out one is a female. I've had rats before who kept producing in a single cage. It got ugly. Real ugly. If shes pregnant, how long before the babies and should I remove the male? Will the mother bite the babies heads off? I've seen this before. Help?!

  • Yes, remove the male ASAP! Gestation is 21 to 23 days... and then once babies are born they stay with mom until about 5 weeks, then you have to separate the males from the females.

It is extremely rare for a rat to harm her babies. Rats make wonderful moms.

  • Will I be able to tell shes pregnant? The mating has been going on for a while, even when I didnt notice.

What do you feed your rats?

  • When was the first day they were together and how old are they?

  • I guess they've always been together. The guy said every rat in the tank was male. I was suspicious the whole time. I kept hearing what sounded like the mating scuffle but every time I looked they stopped and just stared at me until I caught them in the act. It was official about two weeks after I got them. They've been doing it the whole time. It's been about a month now.

  • If it's been a month now and still no babies, you might be lucky but make sure to separate them now. And no playing together either.

  • I feed my rats a high quality rat block from Harlan Teklad. You'll be able to tell when she is close to giving birth, she'll look like she swallowed a baseball. If she's quite young she may not have gotten pregnant. Make sure you separate them asap.

  • Ok, thanks. I'd say they are like young teenager age. They were small but not tiny and not big as adults. They're a little fatter since I got them.

    Thanks a lot.

  • You should name one of your next rats Velcro. I don't mean anything by that, it just would sound funny to call a rat Velcro.

  • I'll keep that in mind... I like that Velcro!

  • This is just as good as the first, maybe better! I love the white one with the black stripe down it's back! Davis, is it? Are you a breeder of sorts, or do you just really love rats? I wish more people could see how lovable rats really are. Most people think they're just nasty and disease-spreading.

  • I'm not a breeder, I rescue rats. There are so many rats needing good homes in shelters, classifieds and other organized rescues. So I take in what I can and give them a good forever home. :)

  • That is so kind of you 8) I think I will seriously consider doing something like this when I get older. It must be a LOT of work, but I think I'd love to come home to a room full of rats everyday! xD

  • It is a lot of work but so rewarding! :)

  • how long can a rat live av only had mine for 4 years
