I love Suheir Hammad; I love her poetry.. And I love Rachel Corrie and the others like her. As an American who is neither Arab nor Jewish, I always feel like I'm meddling. Poking. Where I have no place to poke. But that's just the thing: we're all human. We knew right from wrong at one point in life. I think we still do.

I am neither Arab nor Jew, a white American, but I know right from wrong. I know what we did to the native americans in this country was wrong. I know that the Apartheid in S Africa was wrong. I know Nazi Germany was wrong in its ethnic cleansing of "undesirables."

And I know today that Israel is wrong in its quest for Greater Israel to be realized, to ethnically cleanse all Arabs from "their land", and to oppress a peaceful people, then cry when those people retaliate with unexpected force.
