I'm a first time lover of crotchet I'm an 18 year old male, and a lot of rumor goes that I'm gay. I'm not I have a fiancé and me and her are happy! Dose crotcheing make a male gay???!
@dethlord174 No, I don't think so. Your just in touch with your feminine side. :) I actually think it is cool that guys crochet and it takes a lot of guts to tell people you crochet, because they always will judge you. It doesn't matter if you are male or female, I also get judged as ''old school granny''. If you are having fun while crocheting, it doesn't matter what other people think.
do you have a facebook page as well? I clicked on the website but it's said it's no longer available. I'm trying to do a baby blanket and wonder if I use a I hook that there will be less gap for baby to snag digits on.
@Janettesminutes if you go to fb and search the crochet crowd the page should pop up.... :) you can use and I hook instead and it will close up the gaps a little... you can use any sz hook your comfortable with to go along with the yarn your using but a smaller hook means a smaller blanket so you will have to go around the square more times to get the sz blanket you want :) Cathy@The Crochet Crowd Helpdesk :)
Great video, I made the mistake of telling my boyfriend that I am making him a blanket for his birthday..without knowing how to crochet. I am going for the youtube crash course, and with your video I have been able to actually make a really nice start!
LOL I feel as if there is no hope for me.. I just Dont get "it"! Maybe my yarn is too thin... I seem to get caught in between the actual threads when I go to pull a stitch through.. =( O well Im a stay at home mom so I guess I have all the time in the world to learn!
Thanks!(: it helped!!!! And would there be anyway to do this in two colors? My moms boyfriend is paying me to make him a LSU Blanket and he absolutely LOVES this design but LSU is only two colors. So I would love to know if there is any way to do it with two colors.
@Dutchkruezkat yes this tutorial shows how to add three colors but just add the two instead ....once added just carry the colors around and around...cathy@the crochet crowd helpdesk :)

@mimi41909 Hello....yes, you can make this afghan with one two or as many colors as you want.....add the colors as shown and then keep going around until its big enough....I'm not sure I understand where your having trouble? Is it the last corner you do before you switch colors again?? let me know....cathy@mikeys helpdesk :)
I am having trouble when you go to finish the green and bring it across and then go into the pink post to make the last corner. When doing it with only two colors it doesn't look the same as the three and I'm not sure where to go.
Mike Frist hope had great hoildays. I have a question i have a patter similar to you never ending square but it is a oval or a O shape never ending and i admit aint got clue onhow to begin it. a friend gave to me for xmas. any advice

Hello mikey I am just a beginner in crocheting just had a query do we have to block crocheted blankets or any crocheted projects? And do we have to block the grannie squares before joining them? Expecting a reply and thank you for all the lovely tutorials.....It really inspires the beginners to keep on going ....
@tinamarie815 yes you can just check Granny square afghan-never ending style tip by mikeyssmail. He is using 7 colours for this spiral style... its really cool
Just a tip... when you added that 3rd color, to save your self the whole 'conceptually thinking', you could have just joined it into the middle gap.. problem solved. :D makes it look better as well..
@kittykatie94 well did you try this tip which u just mentioned? I think if u join the 3rd color into the middle gap it would look better but then you wont have the bar up and wont be able to continue with the 2nd color around starting off with the solid....joining at the end is considered as the chn 1 between the two solids so as to continue on with the 3 dc sts....
LMAO switch my balls!!! Im sorry but I busted out laughing when I heard that and my mom was like " What did he say?" Great pattern I love it, its so simple.
I just did a regular granny sqaure baby blanket, and I was looking for something similar but with a twist...this is it. Beautiful end result you had there, and you explained everything very clearly. Thanks for the tutorial. I'm gonna try this one. :)
@dkel84 sorry there is no written pattern for the never ending granny at this time....sometimes the videos are older and say the pattern is available but since then the pattern link has been removed to make room for other patterns.......cathy@ mikeys helpdesk

Thank you very very much for this pattern. I just started it while I did crochet ''with'' you. It is really easy, I hope I can give it to my mum soon! I'll send you a picture when it is ready!
My mum did crochet about a year ago, and she wanted to crochet about 50 or more granny squares. Now, she doesn't crochet anymore, and I want to make her a blanket, but I'm too lazy to make that 50 squeares and make them together, so I want her to make a blanket with this pattern. So thank you very much for this!

Oh, my goodness, this channel is wonderful! I'm a guy, and I love to crochet, and it's so hard to find others like me. And patterns that suit my taste. Afghans are what I do primarily with crochet (and socks with knitting), but it's also hard to find patterns that aren't dainty. Keep up the good work!! I have immense respect for any and all crocheters.
Hi I started this blanket and have it at about 2" by 2" at the moment. It is starting to be ripply on all four sides when you hold it up. It seems flat enough when you place it on the floor or on the bed.
I was wondering if this is normal or if I made some mistake at some point in the blanket?
If it is normal is there any way to negate the ripply nature of this pattern or is this just something that you have to accept and deal with?
@midgetwithamatch...hello this is chanel from mikeys helpdesk.... I have made several of these blankets and never had this problem....some patterns do tend to ripple or curl but I didnt find that with this one.... I am wondering if you are making your stitches to tight (tension) so check that .......
Wow. I love how simple you make it :) I haven't touched a hook since i learned some simple stuff and I can follow this! How much material would I need for a baby blanket and blanket about the size of yours?
@rosieopolos@rosieopolos mikey is using an J sz hook for this project but if you have and I or k those will work..... they willl just make your stitches slightly smaller or larger depending on the sz you use.......
@myna102 the pink purple and green video is the same exact blanket/pattern as the green rust and mauve example blanket mikey shows.....the tutorial is just done in different colors....there is no video that shows the green rust and mauve one being made.....sorry......you can follow this video and use any colors you want ....hope this helps
sorry i'm still confused, i've watched and did it by the written directions, i'm not seeing the prominant holes like in the example of the one in two colors help
hi i guess it's because there are so many colors on this one compared to the one you show, i can't see all the openings. wish you could show one in the colors of your's
@myna102 It never ends because of the centre point we started with... it continually circles therefore there is no slip stitching. It's one big massive square and it goes super fast without every having to cut strings.
@myna102 I understand what you're saying. The picture that advertises this video appears to be different than a granny square. It's as if it begins with a long line, which then squares around that--in a maze-type pattern.
love you and your blankets!!! Im "pattern illiterate" but I can watch it and do it!! Thanks for sharing your talent with me!! I used this pattern to start a nice pink camo baby blanket!! DO you like your students to submit pictures?? Also the colors arent ugly..they make me think out of the box for new and exciting colors!! THANKS AGAIN!!!

This afghan DOES work up very quickly. I started it a couple of days ago and I'm almost at the halfway mark. It looks like a 3D pattern from a distance.Thank you for the video tutorial!
@atansbaby yup you can use this pattern and only use 1-2 or 3 colors..... i used the same pattern/video for a never ending blanket with 7 colors......the skys the limit.... have fun!
@kallee1987 Just use the same concept of adding colours as shown... You can add as many colours as you wish... just follow along with the idea... Mine was actually done in 7 colours using the same technique.
@mikeyssmail thanks for the help. Adding more colors was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. This blanket is going to get really big really fast.
Do you think this will work if I do this with one color, I usually buy three color dye yarn that I think is pretty. I love your videos by the way, since I'm a visual learner.
what a beautiful afghan! I'll save this for when I have a little more experience under my belt. right now I'm stopping and starting so much that I have to pull out the pattern everytime I pick a project back up.
Mikey, I loved the look of this blanket, this will be my next project. I do a lot of crochet all year long getting ready for Christmas, grandchildren, etc. So now I have an Idea for some of the adults on my list. Thanks!!!
My last one I did was 5 days... I just did it in the evenings after work. The final product is my display picture on my facebook fan page. Search MIKEYSSMAIL in Facebook and you will find over 1000 of us sharing and talking about crochet throughout the day. Mine that I did in th epicture was actually 7 colours... but I am showing you three to make it simple so you can understand the concept. :) Try it... you've love it.
Ok! I will. Thank you so much. I did the regular granny square for a baby afghan I have done that I posted, you have seen it. It as very quick as well. May I ask you one more question? How does this vary from the regular granny square when it comes to timing?
I was doing this back in the 90's... I hate slip stitching... because at the time...I could never slip stitch right... so I said... screw it... I am going to create this idea instead... works well fo rme... since then I know how to slip stitch perfectly, but for starting out people... this is a clever tip. :) MKL
i am having a hard time with this becase i am lefthanded and everything that is on rhe side youre doing is on the opposite side for me and i get really frustrated. i get really frustrated because i don't thik that corchet is for left handed people. please help. i love the things you make and would love to make them too. :o)
I've heard this before... What some people tell me is that they put a mirror near their monitor and watch the monitor through the mirror. It gives a left handed perspective. Crochet is for right handed or left handed people. Try that and see what you think.
YEEEAAAAAH the never ending GRANNY TUTORIAL!!!!! i'm so excited! =) i am making my FIRST blanket for my little girl using the double crochet method. AND my mom the "crochet queen" said that for a first timer.... it looks good! thank you mike for your awesome tutorials!

I have immense respect for any and all crocheters.

@ptsgrl2495 Thank you for the response!
I do tend to always pull my stitches tight after almost everything I do. I do this habitually with crochet.
The advice is very much appreciated Thank you again.

Cheers!

How much material would I need for a baby blanket and blanket about the size of yours?
gizzylette 1 year ago
what size hook are you using? or does it not matter?
rosieopolos 1 year ago
@rosieopolos @rosieopolos mikey is using an J sz hook for this project but if you have and I or k those will work..... they willl just make your stitches slightly smaller or larger depending on the sz you use.......

myna102 1 year ago

myna102 1 year ago

i'm sorry i just don't see this as a never ending blanket, i see a granny square, not like the one in the picture, where is you video
myna102 1 year ago
@myna102 It never ends because of the centre point we started with... it continually circles therefore there is no slip stitching. It's one big massive square and it goes super fast without every having to cut strings.
mikeyssmail 1 year ago 2
@myna102 I understand what you're saying. The picture that advertises this video appears to be different than a granny square. It's as if it begins with a long line, which then squares around that--in a maze-type pattern.

This afghan DOES work up very quickly. I started it a couple of days ago and I'm almost at the halfway mark. It looks like a 3D pattern from a distance.Thank you for the video tutorial!

do you use this same pattern if you only want to use 2 colours?
atansbaby 1 year ago
@atansbaby you're the artist... you can decide that... it really has no impact on the colour choices... :) MKL
mikeyssmail 1 year ago 2
@atansbaby yup you can use this pattern and only use 1-2 or 3 colors..... i used the same pattern/video for a never ending blanket with 7 colors......the skys the limit.... have fun!

Is it possible to add more than three colors? If so how would you add the extra colors?
kallee1987 1 year ago
@kallee1987 Just use the same concept of adding colours as shown... You can add as many colours as you wish... just follow along with the idea... Mine was actually done in 7 colours using the same technique.
mikeyssmail 1 year ago
@mikeyssmail thanks for the help. Adding more colors was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. This blanket is going to get really big really fast.

Do you think this will work if I do this with one color, I usually buy three color dye yarn that I think is pretty. I love your videos by the way, since I'm a visual learner.
lwhatley 1 year ago
@lwhatley yes you can use one color ...but of corse you wont get the spiral effect :)

Hi!
Plz reply!
Around how long will this take if i were to keep with it. If u have made one, May I ask you how long it took you?
Kakerville 2 years ago
My last one I did was 5 days... I just did it in the evenings after work. The final product is my display picture on my facebook fan page. Search MIKEYSSMAIL in Facebook and you will find over 1000 of us sharing and talking about crochet throughout the day. Mine that I did in th epicture was actually 7 colours... but I am showing you three to make it simple so you can understand the concept. :) Try it... you've love it.
mikeyssmail 2 years ago
Ok! I will. Thank you so much. I did the regular granny square for a baby afghan I have done that I posted, you have seen it. It as very quick as well. May I ask you one more question? How does this vary from the regular granny square when it comes to timing?
Kakerville 2 years ago
it seems to me...whenever ur working on ur looms....i'm crocheting...and when ur crocheting.....i'm working on my looms...haha!
Great pattern though....did u create this?
i'm going to save this for a rainy day thing to do.

shortydee0379 2 years ago
I've heard this before... What some people tell me is that they put a mirror near their monitor and watch the monitor through the mirror. It gives a left handed perspective. Crochet is for right handed or left handed people. Try that and see what you think.
