All right! Bottom line...Nir has plenty of power and great flow in his wrists, Mike and Tony are solid and legendary, Drennan's tone on "Firth of Fifth" was closer to Steve's than Daryl ever was, not just fast licks. And Ray's voice brought a nice edge and change. This was a return to the real guts of Genesis. But by then Mike and Tony were poisoned with stadium success rather than integrity. Thus the end of the integrity and back to .."please come back to save us Phil with your soccer Mom crowd
@lifesonfan Soccer mom? FIY, I have a dick! And as for Nir Z being a better than Phil, he was good, but not nearly that good. And as for Ray Wilson, no way. This isn't the real guts of Genesis, it's not even real Genesis. Not saying that Phil Collins WAS Genesis, but he was a big part of the band going all the way back to Nursery Cryme. Genesis is only Genesis when you have at least Tony, Mike and Phil working together. This is totally bogus.
@karmamuzak4u Who said Nir is better than Phil? And who are you to say what is "Genesis" and what isn't? "Genesis is only Genesis when you have at least Tony, Mike and Phil working together."? Tell that to Gabriel, Hackett and Ant Phillips. I guess "Trespass" is bogus as well huh? This has more balls than "Invisible Touch" and "We Can't Dance" combined.
I can't help but get nostalgic with this song. When they played their new material it was one thing, but there are certain songs Phil brought a magic to that can't be duplicated. I wonder if it was just too emotionally difficult for Tony and Mike to continue Genesis at this point. Losing Phil was like losing two crucial members, singer and drummer. And considering how successful the reunion tour was, that had to hurt more in a sense, like they're not good enough without Phil. Pure speculation.
@SilentGunman Phil and Chester would drum together, so it did sound more powerful. That and Phil had a rather unique set-up. I don't know if it's so much the tempo as those drums just aren't sounding out.
HBTS is one of my fav G songs, but this version sinks in deep water. Nir makes a good effort but can't touch Phil here; it sounds like he's playing against a pre-recorded track with Phil on Simmons. Some of the bass playing isn't what it should be either.

This song just died. Thank god Phil and Chester brought it back to life in '07.

Technically the drummer is good, but his kit just doesn't have enough punch for this song.

Sounds like the drummers playing against a palyback of Phils Drumming on the simmons kit

Sads like the Mama Tour with the Slow Drum Sound...
hard to find someone who can replace Phil, if Ray would have played Drums on it, that would have maybe made it a bit better :D

Didn't they normally use two drummers when they played this live? If that's the case, I could understand why he's having a hard time with the tempo.

I'm surprised no one has made a snide "This is Wilson's best performance of the concert" comment.

in my opinion there should have been another drummer with nirz; like this sounds very bad

Not good. This part is very much a drum-driven part and the drumming here is horrible. Sounds like NirZ just can't keep up.

Not the best.
