  • If women don't know how to bargain for equal pay they don't deserve it.

  • If you're doing the same job, you should be paid the same, period. And if a woman wants to work for personal reasons no man has any right to question her motives, if any woman (or man) can afford NOT to work to be with her children, good for her. The truth is that most couples can't afford to have one person stay at home with the children becuase there are just too many bills to pay. EQUAL PAY FOR EQUAL WORK!!!

  • That is not true. You should be paid for performance, and you should be able to evaluate your own performance.

  • I'm sorry, I don't get your point, what I'm saying is that all things being equal (ie. same kind of job, same quality of performance, etc... it shouldn't matter if you're a man or a woman the pay should be the same. Clearly if you perform poorly you don't deserve the same pay scheme as a top performer, but that's a differente matter.

  • There is no way you can responsibly regulate that. This law should not have passed, and the fact that every female senator voted for it is a disgrace.

  • you can't regulate every case, but if a particular company is sued then the court can evaluate the situation and judge based on what they find, the only 'disgrace' here is either being too ignorant to admit discrimination happens or be too chauvinistic to think the phrase "all men are created equal" should be extended to all US citizens

  • I wonder if this Katherine Spillar is married and has children and a normal family. Those feminist divas tend to be unsatisfied old maidens or lesbians. I think I will unsubscribe form Real News now. It is too leftie for my taste.

  • I support equal pay for women doing "the same job as a man", but I haven't heard yet of a woman doing "the same job as a man", and making less money. If so, that's an automatic win in court. The truth is, there are many jobs men do, that women simply cant, because they are physically weaker.

  • I'm 51. I begged for promotion to a "man's job" to earn enough to support myself.

As a Catholic--practicing & even at daily mass--I am absolutely appalled how Catholic judges on the Supreme Court destroy the lives of people in favor of the monied interests. May there NEVER be another of my fellow Catholics nominated to the court if that is what it takes to restore JUSTICE!

The Shrub's administration refuses to execute the law: EPA, FAA, FDA... HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN IMPEACHED.

  • CFinNaples:

In the USA I worry less about the Catholic representatives [some can be socially progressive, surprisingly enough] and more about the evangelical frootbats that seem to have gained a grip in the political arena.

I get the "man's job" thing totally. I worked mainly "men's jobs" because the "girly jobs" paid utter shite for lousy hours and crap working conditions.

Even then I had to fight every inch of the way.

  • great video!!!

  • F*** this feminist BS. The feminist movement was sponsored by the CIA (and thats admitted by Gloria steinem) to break up the traditional family model and create a generation of children free from the influences of their parents, to be molded by state institutions in the manner that the government desired.

  • you are a typical ass hole!!!

  • You're just real confused honey. You dont want to be a lesbian.. you want to marry a nice man who will provide for you while you have and raise children. But your mind has been warped by the powerful psychological propaganda on TV, in music, and in the toxic satanic culture that surrounds you. They have enslaved your mind and defaced the pure and wonderful nature God originally created you with. Read the Quran, disconnect yourself from the matrix of evil and restore your place under God's grace!

  • MuslimGhost:

You're welcome to your religious beliefs.

What you are NOT welcome to, at least in USA, Canada, Sweden etc. is to use your religious beliefs as a basis for law or political policy.

As for "confused"? Not at all. I'd never marry someone with your misogynistic, regressive ideas regardless of WHAT gender s/he was.

  • Im not using my religious beliefs as a basis for law, and besides you probably dont realize Islam was the first religion to champion the rights of women. "The best of you are those who are the best to their wives" - Muhammad. The Quran said women and men are equal before God, but God has made them different, and men are the protectors of women. Khadija, Muhammad's first wife, was a powerful businesswoman who worked. Islam makes women cover themselves to honor and protect them.

  • In Islam, 1400 years ago, they were given rights of inheritance, divorce, the right to chose or refuse a husband, property rights, and many other priveleges that they would never see in the western world until the later half of the 20th century.

  • Again, only in the "western world".

Where I would agree that the Muslim world plunged ahead is that while the Christians were in the Dark Ages, medicine and science were stopped dead in their tracks, while the Muslim world continued to progress scientifically.

That progression, unfortunately, seems to have regressed after that time.

  • In America, three times as many women convert to Islam as men. I think that speaks for itself. Personally, I have to constantly address Muslims on this feminist BS they keep importing into Islam from American culture.. the whole "women are gods they should be in charge and tell men what to do and you should love and obey them or omg you're a taliban". Islam gives women many rights, but feminism is an evil movement designed to disrupt harmony between the sexes and destroy families.

  • MuslimGhost:

You are stating, on a video about equal pay for women how women should stay home and make babies.

That's not helping women get equal pay.

As well, you STILL have not pointed me to a source for your erroneous information on Steinam.

As for Islam being the "oldest"--only if you don't count in the civilizations in North and South America that are 10,000 years old.

  • I gave you the source, its verified by the Washington Post. Youtube does not let me post links, surely you have the cranial capacity to edit the URL I posted and access the source.

Yes, women SHOULD stay home and look after their families. It is the job of the man to provide for them. But that doesnt mean they CANT work- only that its a sh*tty thing to do. Just look at the results in America- a generation of kids going down the drain because they have no mothers to instill values in them.

  • MuslimGhost:

Oh puleeze. If you believe that then the CIA is backing the Taliban.

As for Gloria Steinam--find me the quote where she says that in a reliable source. I want to see it. Put up or shut up.

If a woman does the same or equal job to a man, what detriment is it to YOU if she makes the same money?

  • Quote:

What do Richard Wright, Gloria Steinem, Henry Kissinger, George Meany, Nina Simone and Arthur Schlesinger Jr. have in common?

Answer: Directly or indirectly, they all took money from the Central Intelligence Agency during the early years of the Cold War.

[^^ opening excerpt from THE WASHINGTON POST]

    link: tinyurl DOT c0m/2nr959

Also, search for "gloria steinem funded cia" in google. Its well known to all non-sheeple that the feminist movement was orchestrated by the CIA.

  • Gloria Steinam took money through the IRS which was funded by the CIA.

The rest is speculation and opinion.

One feminist is not every feminist. That would be akin to every Taliban supporter being Bin Laden.

I still fail to see what that has to do with equal pay for equal work?

  • I fail to see why a woman has to work to prove to herself that shes equal to a man, going off on some childish ego trip, while she dumps her children in front of the computer and television to raise them so she can play with the boys at corporate headquarters? I have nothing against equal pay for equal work, rather, im questioning their motives for wanting to work to begin with.

  • Your post reeks of sexism, just like the republican party line.

You are assuming that it is the woman who should stay at home with the children. Why are you making that assumption. If the female holds a productive job, couldn't the male stay home and watch the children instead.

And questioning their motives? What kind of dumb statement is that. The same motives that males have for working. And there is a lot of different ones depending on personality.

  • What an incredibly naive thing to say. Women are MADE for looking after children. They are more patient and nurturing then men are... I mean look at the animal kingdom, could you go and make a lion and a lioness switch roles? No. Humans were created in two sexes by God for that purpose.. they were given different attributes to suit their roles.. men are stronger, smarter, more driven to compete, etc. while women are more socially intelligent, more nurturing, caring, etc.
