" hes so popular folks'll buy anythin' with his name on it and a hole in the middle" my god these great men represent the morals of the time they lived in.
If anyone out there says that Luther Perkins is not a good guitar player, just listen to the rhythm in the band. He is vital and sounds great! Awesome clip!
I've seen comments on other videos about how that his stuff was so easy and took no skill. Yes, people are that stupid to actually say and believe that. Whenever I first heard of Johnny Cash and Luther playing the boogie, that is what catches your eye, and of course Johnny.
So true! Not any long embellished solos, just that basic clickety-clack. But nobody could lay that down like Luther, not even Bob Wooton! That raw simplicity was the essence of the Cash sound.
Absolutely agreed. Great sound doesn't have to be complicating - and it sure ain't easy creating Luther's clickety clack! Even if "theoretically" it may look easy, most people don't have an idea what it takes to make a guitar sound like this!
ya he broke the string like you see him looking at the guitar and he smiles, ohh johnny your the man!

I think that click clack on his guitar is the best backing sound ever in a ban. They had the best mix!
