  • Whatever Kenny does,he does is with the true love of the music, that is the heart and soul of Americana. This song is no exception. My wife and I see Kenny and the Planotones, whenever we can,and the music stays in our hearts, long after we leave the show.

  • Superb!

  • i told you so. here i am again.

  • a fabulous artist, who came along too late

  • ahhh....one of my favorite kenny songs. i watch and listen to this one often. i'm sure we all had a broken heart.

  • I love you Bonnie and I do miss you

  • Beautiful!

  • September 24, 2011, happy anniversary to my love who couldn't be here for our anniversary. We still love each other but this song is so from the heart!

  • Kenny Vance, a great talent in the music business, got his start with Jay and the Americans. He later became a music director and song writter. He appeared in the movie American Hot Wax along with a group he formed called The Planotones They continued to make appearences singing Do Wop and Street Corner Harmony music. In my opinion, although, this rendition of "Need You" is good, only the original by Donnie Owens is the Best, as is the case with most originals.

  • I absolutley LOVE this song !

  • Kenny Vance takes me back to the fifties and brings back a meaningful time in my life.

  • Kenny puts so much emotion & real inner soul . Just amazing how moving this song is.

  • So sad and beautiful at the same time. Awesome song and Kenny Vance conveys the feelings beautifully. Cherubilee.

  • Won't find many prettier songs than this. Steve

  • @angelofbebop

    Ditto !! Fantastic !!

  • This guy is a really, really good singer...

  • this i s deep and simply beuatiful song..and has anybody else noticed that artyelvis posts and hates on all kenny vances videos??

  • Great job on the old Donnie Owens 1958 classic !!

  • Any ladies wanna hear me play guitar and sing the 50s 60s 70s 80s music, contact me.. ArtyElvis

  • Love this guy

  • Thank you, Kenny, for this absolutely beautiful song. You always convey such feeling in your singing, and this is just the best. I wish I could see one of your performances, but I must be content with viewing you on YouTube for now. Please continue to sing and share your beautiful gift with all of us.

  • ArtyElvis always goes funny about kenny when hese been sniffing old ladys bicycle saddles

  • @sonnydevaney no artyelvis is a mental case that thinks he can sing.. check out his myspace, he sings that bad hes a joke,, his big problem is that he goes of key, artyelvis likes to rubbish a lot of the old rock & roll stars but he will never be as good as any of them,,

  • Interesting how "Simple and Pure" can deliver such Power and Emotion. Kenny is terrific. Too bad "..in this old troubled word of take and give.." that for every brilliant gift like Kenny, we must endure over 100 A-holes like ArtyElvis.

  • artyelvis, you are an idiot, you imbecile!

  • @ArtyElvis SO HE REALLY SUCKS. NOT TRU,IF HE DID THEN HE WOULDNT BE GETTING PAID TO SING. HEY ARTIE WHATS THE MATTER U HAVE TO IMITATE PEOPLE AD INSULT ORIGINAL PEOPLE. IMTATINGWILLET U NOWHERE

  • @ArtyElvis : Hey , "superstar", if you are so damn amazing, where the hell are your videos at ?

  • I was there too~~ what a fabulous performance!

I was the same way, I smiled all night, it was one of the best shows I have seen, ever! I was so impressed by their showmanship and how they gave us so much of their soul~~ especially Kenny. We were lucky to be there!!!!

  • Another amazing remake of a late 50's tune by Vance.

  • I've just listened to "I Need You", probably 8times in a row, and it's absolutley beautiful.

Kenny, you are the best DooWop artist I have ever heard. Please come to Australia.

  • Kenny's got solid musical roots --- he was a founding member of Jay & the Americans.

"Looking for an Echo" is his best; this is a close second. (And he sings "Angel Baby" on pitch.)

  • Kenny sings like an angel and leaves us feeling at peace and saying, wow, he has a God given talent for sure

  • arty- post some videos...where are you playing this weekend..i live in NJ id love to stop by and hear you sing...not a vocalist?? i guess his plaque in the Vocal Group hall of Fame should be taken down cause you think he sucks...

  • Kenny Vance is NOT a guitarist and barely a vocalist!! Honest Arty in Brooklyn!!

  • Barely a vocalist? Shows you don't know much about singing. He is a great vocalist.

Put up some of your own stuff if you think you're better.

  • I know people who have heard you "Arty ELVIS"?

The best thing said was " You can't shine an old TURD"

  • Kenny Vance cult followers don't know a thing about music! Kenny couldn't shine my shoes in music!! Honest Arty in Brooklyn...

  • kenny brings back what is real about the 50dies,he is honest and real,in a world filled with trouble,he really brings back the the days of doo wop, your a great singer kenny keep it up! betty

  • Kenny Vance is a great singer. However, he doesn't come close to Donnie Owens or Johnny Jack version of this song.

  • He doesn't have to come close to them. He did his own reading on this - a much quieter, more intimate take, and it is absolutely beautiful.

  • hes not trying to be better..he is paying the utlitmate respect to the original artists of this genre..just like he does in all of his songs...

  • I am sooo much better than this guy and he gets so much work, so people think he is so great, but he isn't!! Give me just half of the work he gets ...

  • arty- you are a better singer than Kenny Vance? prove it, post a video...usually there is a reason why people cant get work..

  • Kenny Vance is GREAT!!!

  • Kenny does a very nice cover as a ballad; however I still prefer Donnie Owens' 1958 original backed by the Ben Denton singers, which had a slight Country and western style to it.Having said that, I believe Kenny Vance is today the best interpreter of my cherished Doowops.

  • Thanks for mentioning Donnie Owens. I couldn't remember who had recorded this. I agree his version is the standard. But this is really wonderful in its own right. Kenny Vance brings something very special to everything he does.

  • WOW, I never heard this one by Kenny Vance, and I have every CD he has. Simply a beautiful song. Kenny and the Planotones are awesome. I see them every chance I get. Hope one day he will put this on a CD. Thanks Kenny for the memories.

  • Der Song "Need You" ist von Donnie Owens (1958).

  • Read down to doo-wopper 51"s reply

  • kenny....you do the oldies like no one has done in years...next time please record "you're so fine" by the fantastic falcons, i know you'll do it properly.

  • Wow!This is my first time hearing this song;and I thought I knew all of the oldies!@ Kenny is truly the best guy on the scene today,he and his Planotones do a terrific doowop show

  • Although I have been happily married to my high school sweetheart for 42 years, I would love for KV to sing this to me. Songs don't do anything for my husband, but they are my memories of a sweet past. Thank you, Kenny Vance.

  • Kenny, great delivery , smooth one of my current fav's. Been racking my brain for the original artist. Something tells me it's one of those old rockabilly cross-overs.I do remember hearing the orig. yrs. ago.

RK, an old doo-wopper and Erasums Hall alum.

  • Donnie Owens did it in 1958 on guyden 2001 label, Beautiful song, Kenny did a nice job on it!

  • Kenny, thanks for another great smooth romantic song! You're the best! Have to keep playing your songs over and over!

  • Very emotional song for me. I can't stop playing it. Please, someone tell me that this song is available on a CD!

    Go Kenny!

  • Kenny...absolutely love this song! Where can it be bought? I own your "Live at Cuillo" DVD plus your other CD's. I just checked your website hoping to find this song but it's not there! You guys are the best and thanks a million for "keeping the music alive!"

  • Kenny:

I loved it and would like to know more about the song (orig. composer/artist/when, etc.)

    Nice job of course

  • excellent....as always!
