Kenny Vance, a great talent in the music business, got his start with Jay and the Americans. He later became a music director and song writter. He appeared in the movie American Hot Wax along with a group he formed called The Planotones They continued to make appearences singing Do Wop and Street Corner Harmony music. In my opinion,although, this rendition of "Need You" is good, only the original by Donnie Owens is the Best, as is the case with most originals.

I just saw Kenny in Clearwater, FL at the Capitol Theatre too, on 8/28/09 and he was so wonderful... the best show I've ever seen. I was in a trance all weekend after the show and still have a smile on my face!! He's so great!

Kenny does a very nice cover as a ballad; however I still prefer Donnie Owens' 1958 original backed by the Ben Denton singers, which had a slight Country and western style to it.Having said that, I believe Kenny Vance is today the best interpreter of my cherished Doowops.
