Mac: Wow 30$ for an upgrade I can only install on a 2000$ hardware (with little to no hardware upgrade available) wich can only be bought from Apple. What a cheap price. I'm glad I bought a mac instead of a 250$ os and with a 800$ hardware with tree time my mac processing power.

I'm a satisfied user and it's not the OS duh. It's the casing. You won't get scratches but bumps. It is made up of Alu-Magnesium to avoid overheating.
@cydhemicphaola your example would depend entirely upon the hardware used in the computer. if you compared a computer running windows 7 against a mac running mac osx with identical hardware (or as close as you can come, because some hardware is mac-only such as the cd-drive), they would be more or less equal. however, the windows computer would be preferable in such a situation because the hardware would cost literally half as much money.

i've been running minigbic on 10bgit for 2 years on a PC network , already capable of running 5 KMs...For a normal user you won't even use up the bandwidth. usb 3 is more then sufficent for most users and is backward compatible... Anything more like HDs i can just run sas.
@gh5432 actually you can upgrade (with the exeption of macbook air and mac mini) they come cheeper if you dont buy them from apple.com (ram, hardrives, and video cards), and you can use the same rams and hard drives that a pc uses.

@gh5432 Yes, you can upgrade to whatever u want on a PC. But finding the one that fits, thats the problem. Driver errors, system crash, blue screen. On windows, the software isnt intergrated into the hardware. They never can, and never will Fix this.
@red20ro finding one that fits? that is the easiest part of upgrading, mainly because most things are standardized. I have never had a driver error, and i haven't crashed or gotten a BSOD since ME, even after upgrading parts of my computer. And just because Apple only uses intel, AMD, ETC, doesn't mean that it's integrated into it. that is just a load of crap
Of course you need new drivers when you get a new OS, if you use the drivers that come with it you're gonna get some pretty lame speeds but with a mac that problem doesn't matter because with a mac it's all about looking good and speed doesn't matter, Mac is sort of like a model with polio, good looks but can't really do anything.
@Drumfire that's why a mac's hardware sucks. because they don't let you upgrade the hardware, forcing them to release new drivers for old hardware to connect to their new version of their OS. nothing wrong with the OS (besides the lack of gaming) but the hardware incompatibility sucks. (Not to mention you can't really build a -really- badass mac if you want to)
Since the release of Vista and 7, all drivers now can installed automatically and a lot easier! Windows could recognize all my drivers well without manually installing any of them! Wonder if I can do that on a Mac?!

(OS installation +30€) See the difference?? You buy Macs from 5 to 5 before it outdates too much and it would cost way less than the Mac. For gaming. The Mac pro is 2449€!! Half that money and I would have an incredible machine with 2 GPU crossfired and 1 of the latest Intel CPU!!! PC may last less, but they are WAY cheaper!!

No matter how many times I install and reinstall Windows , every time I've still got to run about installing drivers. Guys one OS can't be called horrible while the other flawless; they both have their advantages and disadvantages.. It depends on your needs.. If you're a hardcore gamer you obviously would be better off with a PC rig, or if your'e looking for maybe a tiny bit less maintenance and better customer support (don't flame me please, having used both this is my opinion) and less 'maintenance' then yeah Mac. If youre on a budget, then yeah PC.. Both arent perfect, but good for some and bad for others.
mac has viruses too.... it just has less cause hackers decided its not worth their time to mess with such a small portion of the population, so they didn't make many until recently when mac started to sell better

My new theory is that PC users dissing macs here are secretly insecure about the shortcomings of a windows OS and so have to validate themselves by dissing macs.
You want "secretly insecure"? One of the GM's brought in his Mac Laptop, which was running the Windows Emulation on it. He infected his Mc with a virus, which infected his Windows Shell, and then went on to infect several PC's across our work network. It took us almost a month to get the damage repaired, and we have to reformat 3 PC's.

Well lets look at it this way, I bought my PC three years ago. Windows vista, intel core 2 duo processor, four gigs of ram, for 1400 dollars. My friend on the other hand bought a Mac with about equal specs one year later, for 2000. I have not spent a penny on one program, and have not had one virus. My friend has not had a virus on his Mac, however he has spent hundreds on new programs. Mac is just a waste of money.
@frumpychicken12345 Yours doesn't have the extremely high-quality built in mic and webcam, programs you actually want pre-installed, and an INCREDIBLY fast and reliable operating system (my dad's Vista Laptop almost always freezes after sleep mode overnight).
And if a Mac user wants to run a Windows program or game, he can just boot into Windows, while the other way around is only possible by hacking.
After having had Windows for years, and a Mac for two months, I already prefer Macs.

You can get Windows as a software package for ANYTHING, but if you want a Mac OS, you have two options, buy a mac computer (Colossal waste of money), or hack (steal) it. Games and other high end programs usually run very poorly on a Mac because it isn't designed to cope with the processing power needed.
You may prefer Macs, but some of us enjoy our faster processors and customisable hardware.
@BlizzardFenrir on expsensive laptops yes they do have ahigh end camera and mic, since im on a desktop ill use an hd webcam, and windows 7 is just as fast, but you still have to buy windows to bootcamp and apple doesnt allow you to run osx on anything other than a mac, so thats apples fault not microsofts, i just like the faster hardware for a lot less that can run games and adobe cs4 blazing fast without breaking the bank

I have an intel based Mac 8-core Mac pro with 10GB RAM and I laugh when my system boots in 16 seconds compared to your PC which takes 30 seconds just to load the antivirus software and I laugh again at you.

theres already a few of those on ebay. my friend has the "i9" clocked at 3.6ghz stock atm. its an engineering sample. but it has 6 cores and 12 threads and its good stuff. too bad it dosent benifit from gaming since most games use 3-4 cores only.

@gh5432 Yes, you can upgrade to whatever u want on a PC. But finding the one that fits, thats the problem. Driver errors, system crash, blue screen. On windows, the software isnt intergrated into the hardware. They never can, and never will Fix this.

@red20ro finding one that fits? that is the easiest part of upgrading, mainly because most things are standardized. I have never had a driver error, and i haven't crashed or gotten a BSOD since ME, even after upgrading parts of my computer. And just because Apple only uses intel, AMD, ETC, doesn't mean that it's integrated into it. that is just a load of crap

Of course you need new drivers when you get a new OS, if you use the drivers that come with it you're gonna get some pretty lame speeds but with a mac that problem doesn't matter because with a mac it's all about looking good and speed doesn't matter, Mac is sort of like a model with polio, good looks but can't really do anything.

@Drumfire that's why a mac's hardware sucks. because they don't let you upgrade the hardware, forcing them to release new drivers for old hardware to connect to their new version of their OS. nothing wrong with the OS (besides the lack of gaming) but the hardware incompatibility sucks. (Not to mention you can't really build a -really- badass mac if you want to)

Since the release of Vista and 7, all drivers now can installed automatically and a lot easier! Windows could recognize all my drivers well without manually installing any of them! Wonder if I can do that on a Mac?!

@FlareOfDawn But here's the catch, the cheaper Mac computer (in Portugal) is 1008€. A basic computer. I bought a very cheap computer for my sister 6 months ago for 400€!! (OS installation +30€) See the difference?? You buy Macs from 5 to 5 before it outdates too much and it would cost way less than the Mac. For gaming. The Mac pro is 2449€!! Half that money and I would have an incredible machine with 2 GPU crossfired and 1 of the latest Intel CPU!!! PC may last less, but they are WAY cheaper!!

No matter how many times I install and reinstall Windows , every time I've still got to run about installing drivers. I guess it's only you who has access to this lovely 'auto-detect-and-driver-install' feature.

Guys one OS can't be called horrible while the other flawless; they both have their advantages and disadvantages.. It depends on your needs.. If you're a hardcore gamer you obviously would be better off with a PC rig, or if your'e looking for maybe a tiny bit less maintenance and better customer support (don't flame me please, having used both this is my opinion) and less 'maintenance' then yeah Mac. If youre on a budget, then yeah PC.. Both arent perfect, but good for some and bad for others.

@Kolya734 uhhh may not be safe to talk here but there are... alternatives to limewire (lets be fair, limewire is useful but the most virus inducing program out there) though i use it to for some things sometimes the same way as you- with care. if you know what you are doing you will never get a virus :3 even without protection programs

You want "secretly insecure"? One of the GM's brought in his Mac Laptop, which was running the Windows Emulation on it. He infected his Mc with a virus, which infected his Windows Shell, and then went on to infect several PC's across our work network. It took us almost a month to get the damage repaired, and we have to reformat 3 PC's.
Macs and their users can go fuck themselves. I don't need a virus nest on my network.

Well lets look at it this way, I bought my PC three years ago. Windows vista, intel core 2 duo processor, four gigs of ram, for 1400 dollars. My friend on the other hand bought a Mac with about equal specs one year later, for 2000. I have not spent a penny on one program, and have not had one virus. My friend has not had a virus on his Mac, however he has spent hundreds on new programs. Mac is just a waste of money.

@frumpychicken12345 Yours doesn't have the extremely high-quality built in mic and webcam, programs you actually want pre-installed, and an INCREDIBLY fast and reliable operating system (my dad's Vista Laptop almost always freezes after sleep mode overnight).
And if a Mac user wants to run a Windows program or game, he can just boot into Windows, while the other way around is only possible by hacking.
After having had Windows for years, and a Mac for two months, I already prefer Macs.

@BlizzardFenrir The thing about Apple is, they're very paranoid about people stealing their stuff. You can get Windows as a software package for ANYTHING, but if you want a Mac OS, you have two options, buy a mac computer (Colossal waste of money), or hack (steal) it. Games and other high end programs usually run very poorly on a Mac because it isn't designed to cope with the processing power needed.
You may prefer Macs, but some of us enjoy our faster processors and customisable hardware.

@BlizzardFenrir on expsensive laptops yes they do have ahigh end camera and mic, since im on a desktop ill use an hd webcam, and windows 7 is just as fast, but you still have to buy windows to bootcamp and apple doesnt allow you to run osx on anything other than a mac, so thats apples fault not microsofts, i just like the faster hardware for a lot less that can run games and adobe cs4 blazing fast without breaking the bank

theres already a few of those on ebay. my friend has the "i9" clocked at 3.6ghz stock atm. its an engineering sample. but it has 6 cores and 12 threads and its good stuff. too bad it dosent benifit from gaming since most games use 3-4 cores only.
