@music2comment No, not a vocal harmonizor, pre-recorded backing vocals, Imelda has explained this herself on this show before she began those particular tracks.
@music2comment Actually it's a effect which you would get from a Condenser microphone which they used in the 40/50's. This actually creates a reverb effect and by using it in modern music like Imelda May(the singer here) helps give an old fashioned rockabilly feel.
@music2comment You've never heard multi track harmonies before? I'd imagine it takes serious talent to be able to sing live over your own recorded backing vocals like this, not a lack of it.
@music2comment singing over pre-recorded harmonies is the device that the whole song is built around. You'd know that if you were familiar with the original LP&MF recording.

I love Imelda. I met her once, face to face. Such a humble and intelligent woman. Great to see her again!

The tracked vocals is definitely a nod to Les Paul who invented multi-tracking.
gsorge1 11 months ago
@gsorge1 Yep. Actually, this is a note-for-note repro of the Les Paul version.

More likely it is a TC-Helicon VoiceWorks Plus
vocal harmonizer. I don't believe it's a Milli Vanilli style job.

The computer generated harmony on the vocalist is beyond bizarre. Covering for lack of talent?
