  • One of my Dixon faves is "Peters pop keeps a lollipop shop"

  • Tony Fenelon also is a brilliant organist, there are lots of them. I have had the great pleasure of meeting some of them and ,unlike rock stars, they are very approachable and friendly people.

  • OMG On The Good Ship Lollipop! I loved it! and it's some kind of medley too, so it seems, with Lullaby of Broadway and two other tunes I don't recognize. And what a delight to get a glimpse inside the ballroom itself. Very impressive.

  • I had the thrill of a lifetime when i was 18years old(1963),Reginald Dixon signed my

L.p and i shook his hand a really nice gentleman, may he rest in peace.

  • @barneyboscoe omg you are so lucky...iv been to blackpool so many times..im 52..great memories..that ballroom rocks more than any modern festival...and i like modern tunes too..when i go in there i feel the atmosphere more than anything in the world...classic place to be ..the ballroom...shivers down my spine...john in stoke

  • Bid me discourse,i will enchant thine ear

  • I'm 17, nearly 18 and I love the wurlitzer music, it's great and sounds so cheerful. I recommend people listen to 'The organist entertains' by Nigel Ogden on BBC Radio 2, Tuesday nights at 22.00-22.30pm, he plays some great classics, hope people check it out =D xxxxx

  • It is always nice to hear of the 'younger generation' enjoying the delights of the theatre Organ. Fortunately, living in Blackpool, I quite often go to the Tower Ballroom and hear the Wurlitzer Organ played by Phil Kelsall, as well as, various other Organists. I, too, love the 'Organist entertains' on Radio 2.

  • wow, your very lucky =) I hope to hear it live someday. Some people think it's odd that I like it, I don't care though =D I actually got into organ music from hearing it on silent movies as backing music and it reminds me of holidays to scarborough when I was little.

  • @prettyparisian hey ...respects to you..the best place ever...what a ballroom and i dont dance but my mum used to..shes 75 now..worth it to feel the yrs in a classic venue....best in England...id pay 4 quid for a coke to spend some time in there...

  • wow if thats the output from one of those ion t tables , im off to get one tomorrow !!!!!!!!!!!

  • This sounds like the earlier and smaller WurliTzer organ in the Tower from 1929 -1933.

It was removed to make way for the larger instrument built to Reginald Dixon's own design. The earlier instrument was enlarged, fitted with new console, and installed in Blackpool's Winter Gardens Empress Ballroom. It now forms the large part of the organ in Worthing Town Hall.

  • You know way too much about these things......

  • ...nice to know though isn't it ? ...and it IS all correct !

  • @Wnoronz thank you for the information...

  • @john111257 my pleasure! ....anytime!

  • Ooh, i hope thats a dedicated 78rpm player, cos playing those records with a regular stylus recks them.

    great song too

  • Great clip..shame we don't have the pics of him too!! Re. acchos comments...it isn't a "bad" style at all..just different. While I respect JE's ability and talent,I don't think he'll ever top RD's popularity which still lasts to this day and beyond.

  • Haha its the guy that Arnold Rimmer off of Red Dwarf listens to! "Reggie Dixon". With such greats as "Pop goes Delius" and "Funking up Wagner"

  • I am old,but Diixon's style is older.I like better Denny Lee or Franz Lambert.

  • @Tiberius1919 whatever??

  • @Tiberius1919 Whatever !!

  • FANTASTIC always ready to listen to Mr Blackpool

    more please

  • beats watching a cd or mp3 players!!!

  • Aaron your a star!

  • Great! Takes me back to the old theater days..the Organ Guild managed to same some of this monsters...

  • Can't say i liked that music.

  • Blackpool is a bad example of theatre organ music, its a bit different from the rest.

try looking for Jelanni Edington and you`ll have some of the best videos on utube

  • @acchos Are you aware that Reginald Dixon made literally hundreds of recordings from the 20s up to the 70s,entertained millions at Blackpool, and had fans all over the world, for me he had no equal.

  • well your still a baby, this is for children of the 1930's
