Maybe the cop should shut down every single business in town, because we're all just making the assumption that they're "helping people", they're all just helping themselves.
Most of the Americans (especially the feds) are soooooo fucking ignorant and hypocritical. Marijuana can be used for both self gratification and medical reasons just like pill popping, but the Feds outlaw marijuana? Those guys need to get their heads out of their asses and look at the big picture.
You don't get to pick and choose what laws to follow. If you want to just ignore a law on the books, you might as well say that murder and rape should be legal.
I'm glad this drug lord is getting punished, and I think with him behind bars, our Country will finally be safe.
I'm curious if the Obama DOJ will drop the Charlie Lynch *mob* case in a similar manner that it did with the recent New Black Panther case(s).
Unlikely, but it would be the right thing to do in the former, unlike the latter case which was a matter of throwing law under the bus.
Also, I haven't touched weed in almost a decade, but I still think it shouldn't be criminal to use the stuff. It's by far one of the least harmful intoxicants a person can ingest.
hmmm I'm wandering why they haven't made this video when the first Bailout came out during G.W.Bush's administration, and only made it when Barack Obama became president
that's because you're narrow minded... but keep that up when the entire way of life collapses in this country about 20-30 years from now... if we make it that far...
left vs right is all bull shit.... once you get that and stop looking at it with tunnel vision, your eyes open and it's a great thing... continue down the narrow vision path, and good luck with your ignorance....
I hope Charlie's jurors are smart enough to know about jury nullification. That was what stopped prohibition and it's the only way the war on drugs can be stopped. Refuse to convict, that is your right. Use it!
Cops don't help people--just find Monica Montoya in the search engine at the top of this page... a good samaritan arrested for helping the police.
To reiterate, cops don't help people--they arrest people. Doesn't matter if they are guilty, innocent, criminal, law-abiding. They are not taught to discern the truth of the situation, but to execute the fullest extent of the law that they can, even if it results in the death of the offending citizen (type "Oscar Grant" in above for more).
If you believe the great powerful Federal Government should be used to stop people from enjoying marijuana in their private lives be it for recreational or medicinal.... WHAT ELSE DO YOU SUPPORT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FOR? I don't want to know! If the Government has enough power to raid our homes and imprison us for legal activity, there is no end in sight to what they can do!
This clip is difficult for me to watch. I have been a staunch advocate for ending the War on the Underclass/Drugs for years!! I did a thesis on it. When I watch this video it just hurts.
Marijauna should be legal for any type of use but not legalizing it for medical use is cruel. Marijuana is an outstanding medicine. It relieves all forms of pain on its own, it amplifies opiates, it restores appetite, it surpresses nausea, it alleviates anxiety and depression and it can be helpful because it masks withdrawal symptoms from hard drugs so it makes it easier for people to quit opiates and cocaine. It also can be used in lieu of alcohol and less alcohol consumption has many benefits.
Despite what you say about harmful effects of drugs, I think people ought to be able to do what ever the hell they like with there own body who are you to tell some one they can't do something because you don't approve. that would be like me using the government to make it illegal to eat at McDonalds just because 'It's bad for your heart" or can make you morbidly obese. You fucking busy body's make me sick, so sick in-fact it ought to be illegal for you to even breath.
The United States is a complete Police State now. I feel sorry for the people living there.
Too bad they weren't smart enough to see through the government propaganda over the years. American arrogance I guess. Nobody wanted to believe that the almighty American government was corrupt.
Actually, the AIG executives were paid retention bonuses to keep them onboard to fix the mess. Anyways, it's not the fault of the people that received them, and it's not even the fault of the people that approved the bonuses, but the fault of the government that gave them our money. Just like the guy in the video said, they go after "the little guy" and execs are little compared to the federal government. that said, hearing about what happened to this guy makes me livid.
John Stossel is the ONLY reporter in the media that I actually give a damn about! Unlike Matthews, Hannity, Oreilly, Malkin, Olbermann who are just poodles licking their masters' boots!
Three presidents in a row have admitted using dope. Our current president used CRACK. Why, then, do we still have ninjas running around with machineguns busting in doors?
I think people who have had their heads in the sand and full of Obama fever will very shortly begin to see that great oratory promise making is far from honesty and promise keeping. His campaign was like the lottery, everyone wants to win the big prize but how many actually see it?
Charlie .. this is how you beat this. The federal government uses the Commerce Clause as justification as to why they can enforce drug laws across state lines, because even though the marijuana might be produced, sold, and consumed entirely within the state of California, it "might" cross state lines. However, it took an entire consitutional amendment to grant them that authority in regards to the Prohibition, yet the commerce clause existed prior to the Prohibition amendment ...
The Marijuana, according to the DEA, is more "serious" then crack/cocain if by serious you mean "more people use". Are these lawyers implying that more people smoke crack then smoke pot?
And why is this dumass reporter putting a question mark behind every sentence? Does that make up for a lack of balanced reporting?
I may agree with some points in this story, but not how they are presented.
What he meant is that marijuana is a Schedule I drug, meaning it is a controlled substance that is considered to have no medicinal uses. Cocaine is a Schedule II drug because it is used in some local anesthetics.
As for balance, this special reflects John Stossel's beliefs and isn't intended to be objective. It's a welcome sight, because even news reports that attempt to balance the liberal and conservative perspectives almost never include the libertarian position on many issues.
This was broadcast on 20/20 which is under the umbrella of ABC news. News is presented by journalists, and this guy has no journalistic integrity. It has nothing to do with political partys points of view, thats not what balance means.
Schedule 1 drugs are in no way meant to imply they are more "serious" then schedule 2 drugs, as some schedule 2 drugs are more deadly then schedule 1.
Giving people who sell marijuana more prison/jail time than violent law offenders, such as murderers, rapists, burglars etc. is ridiculous. Marijuana is a medicine put here by God to help people.
fuck them. "hes making a profit so hes fucking a horrible person" Fuck that. "Worse than crack cocaine" once again Fuck That. why dont they fucking get some balls and go after someone whos harming people like murders
As a police officer the sherrifs response makes me ashamed. If my loved one has cancer and needs marijuana which works better than prescribed medicing I could give two turds whats better for the community. What many people do not realize is that many officer feels the same as I. During my 12 years I have spoke with many officers on this issue and about 75% whom I have spoke with are in favor of it and think the drug war is a waste.
Obama could stop this bull in a day. He could pardon every person who's been convicted. He could have done it the day he was inaugurated. What's the deal, Obama?
How can Eric Holder make such a promise? The SCOTUS has already said that federal agents have the constitutional right to enforce federal laws. So until we get rid of federal drug laws, nothing will change.
Charlie Lynch's statement "Fear of gov." is right on the dot. If they can scare us into believing something is dangerous (drugs, food or cars) then can make us believe that they have the answer to calm our fears. "I inhaled, frequently" speaks volumes to who Obama is as president; He can sleep at night as people are being detained for doing the exact same thing he did with out getting caught. If you've ever been detained for any reason, you know its not a pleasant experience
End the "War on Drugs" for f*&k sake. The only war on drugs we should have should involve BOMBING PFIZER, MERCK, and rest of the BIG PHARMA SCUM!!!
Speaking of bullshit raids......Many are looking to local solutions and growing their own food which is a good idea. So what do the shitheel feds do? They introduce HR 875 which in a nutshell will make it very difficult to grow your own food w/o their approval!! Pure scumbags!! I've had it!!! STATE SOVEREIGNTY!!
Agreed. I don't think we need to criticize any pharm. companies as they have done far more good than any harm they could have caused. I don't buy into the whole "The doc gave me pills and now I'm a junkie" Where does personal responsibility come into play? I don't really know the insides and outs of HR 875, but I don't doubt your statement. The government literally wants to control every aspect of our lives they can and what better way than to scare us!
Any proof? He's calling out the bullshit of government. I would say he's doing the exactly opposite, he's standing up for the other 95% who don't have the money to lobby government and get what they want.
"It is not from the benevolence of butchers, the brewer, or the baker, that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own interest. We address ourselves not to their humanity but to their self love." - Adam Smith
That sheriff, who complained that Charles Lynch was "only helping himself" should realize that that is exactly how the free market works.
I'm a chronic pain patient and there is an assault on medicine in general, I have arthritis and it sucks enough but if these people get a benefit from pot than what is the big deal. They should be arresting illegal immigrants or ponzi schemers.
I don't know why but the prosecution of Charles Lynch has me furious. Not only did the Sheriff fail to protect Mr. Lynch under the laws of California but he turned snitch to the Feds. For some reason the sheriff thinks he knows better than the people. I hope the people will rectify that as soon as possible.
Since the sheriff failed to protect Charlie its now time for California's elected officials to step up to the plate and tell the Feds in California we operate under the 10th Amendment to the US Constitution. Governor Schwarzenegger should personally go to L.A. take the National Guard if necessary and remove Charlie from federal custody. After all when it comes to medical marijuana California has jurisdiction inside the state borders.
916-445-284. Tell him that it is unacceptable for the Feds to come into California where they have no jurisdiction on Medical Marijuana and arrest good hard working productive citizens operating legally under California laws.
2nd Call the Whitehouse. 202-456-111 for comments 202-456-1414 switchboard and tell the President that this is unacceptable that good men go to jail because of bad laws.
... before I "forget", I wanted to say that, I really enjoy watching this docu, really nicely done, thanks for sharing wisted ... now back to my Sunday Smoking Session ... aaaah The Munchies :-)
Corruption is rampant in politics and banking to the tune of trillions of dollars, and they throw the book at this guy for growing and selling a plant. Liberty, justice, and the American way are all dead.
To put this man in jail is a waste of money; I am not fully for legalization (up in the air..), however that's wasteful of taxpayer money (and his life) to jail this guy.
......AND WASTEFUL in so many areas of life. Our patients suffer needlessly without their prosecutions, compassion and clarity needed by a strong rallying community worldwide.
Over and over again you're hearing "...making a profit" as an epithet. Unbelievable. "Making a profit" just means "making a living." And sometimes doing it very, very well. :-D
These drug war policies are pure evil, and the people who support them deserve condemnation and disgust, not excuses about how their intentions are good (you know what they say about the road to hell...).
If they want to keep making marijuana illegal, they might as well make beer, wine, and cigarettes illegal too. Beer leads to beating wives and cigarettes lead to lung cancer. As long as you don't force anyone to take those drugs, you can smoke 'till your grin matches Joker's.
don't shoot the messenger. Most cops are just simple minded good people trying to do their jobs. Anger toward police, soldiers, and other government employees is misplaced. They are just pawns. Who controls the policies and propaganda? The ruling elite. They are the pigs!
That's actually not true. There was a census conducted of the psychological profiles of police officers and it came out with something like 70% exhibit authoritarian character traits. Cops are necessary, but they should not be given as much latitude as they are to abuse people for no reason.
thought the government was supposed to help people not destroy their lives. may that sheriff rot in hell, that self righteous prick

They should be arresting illegal immigrants or ponzi schemers.

nickd4818 2 years ago
I don't know why but the prosecution of Charles Lynch has me furious. Not only did the Sheriff fail to protect Mr. Lynch under the laws of California but he turned snitch to the Feds. For some reason the sheriff thinks he knows better than the people. I hope the people will rectify that as soon as possible.
vipero00 2 years ago 2
Since the sheriff failed to protect Charlie its now time for California's elected officials to step up to the plate and tell the Feds in California we operate under the 10th Amendment to the US Constitution. Governor Schwarzenegger should personally go to L.A. take the National Guard if necessary and remove Charlie from federal custody. After all when it comes to medical marijuana California has jurisdiction inside the state borders.
vipero00 2 years ago
I encourage you to call the governor's office
916-445-284. Tell him that it is unacceptable for the Feds to come into California where they have no jurisdiction on Medical Marijuana and arrest good hard working productive citizens operating legally under California laws.
2nd Call the Whitehouse. 202-456-111 for comments 202-456-1414 switchboard and tell the President that this is unacceptable that good men go to jail because of bad laws.

I hope the voters in his town will fire his smug, incompetent ass at their next opportunity.

I think its the drug cartels who push for this criminalization. That way they make insane profits. They probably threaten govt. officials.

Government is a sick disease.
How can I send in some money to Charlie to support him? Absolute insanity that he went to jail.
escapethecollapse 2 years ago 4
If they want to keep making marijuana illegal, they might as well make beer, wine, and cigarettes illegal too. Beer leads to beating wives and cigarettes lead to lung cancer. As long as you don't force anyone to take those drugs, you can smoke 'till your grin matches Joker's.
Tasadaru 2 years ago
If the government can find a common ground for legal marijuana and other herbal medicine they can relieve lots of sick people.
anthony81289 2 years ago
The problem is government itself.
A weed that can grow anywhere, in poor soil, makes multi-billion-dollar prescription drugs obsolete.
Just why do you think the "drug war" persists in the face of reality? Because drug companies make large campaign contributions.
CurtHowland 2 years ago 6
Thats crazy. Its sad that people take drugs with nasty side-effects when there are cheaper ones that fix the problem better :(

And the cops wonder why they are called pigs??????
JMVB123 2 years ago 8
cops are tyranny enforcement officers, they enforce the governments unconstitutional illegal tyrannical laws
mattgeb84 2 years ago 6
Fortunately, not all of them. A lot of small-town cops actually care about preventing actual crime than enforcing traffic tickets.
fephisto 2 years ago 3
don't shoot the messenger. Most cops are just simple minded good people trying to do their jobs. Anger toward police, soldiers, and other government employees is misplaced. They are just pawns. Who controls the policies and propaganda? The ruling elite. They are the pigs!
bamboooodmad 2 years ago
That's actually not true. There was a census conducted of the psychological profiles of police officers and it came out with something like 70% exhibit authoritarian character traits. Cops are necessary, but they should not be given as much latitude as they are to abuse people for no reason.
Archaneus 2 years ago 3
