My follow-up to the last the he said would be to ask him how he intends to address the situation of single-parent households, since he so firmly believes that every child must have exactly one mother and exactly one father.
a Marriage is a personnel shrine to the feeling between any two (or more as Sontrom will force me to say) people with deep honest love for each other who recognize, respect and cherish the joy the other brings them. do you mr santorum really think the validity of the above feelings depend solely on the physical features of the people in question?, that we should recognize love not biased upon the character of the heart but the content of our pants?
I especially love when he says he would like to talk about the FACTS, then states that Marriage is and has always been a Christian ceremony for a man and a woman... WRONG! Marriage has existed in numerous forms throughout the Pagan faith long before this freakish cult of Christianity reared it's ugly head! The guy is a right-wing retard who doesn't know Human or religious history, but then I guess that's 99% of the American right-wing nutters who want to dictate and control.
@himynamesbrianna distraction is the best tool of the politician. Challenge them on something they know is idiotic and they try to divert the discussion or twist your point.
I dont give a feck, if 10 people want to marry i have NO PROBLEM with that. Free people should not discuss their marital status with a politician. Feck This joke.
Santorum is a fucking dumbass. He is jumping around the question and coming up with an argument that is completely irrelevant to gay marriage due to the fact that he is unable to steadily come up with a counter. He is talking about multiple people marrying all in a whole. But I do not believe that the moral values of a human is to disgrace a group of people, who have the same basic freedoms as everybody else , in a whole just because you do not believe it is what God had planned for us.
If this asshole gets elected, I WILL leave this country. This man will run this country into the ground and, I promise, this will be Orwell's society. It will be.
We need "less government" all right, except when it comes to who you're in love with, or whether or not you want to use birth control or have an abortion...than all of sudden we need more regulations. You know, to "protect the sanctity of marriage". 50% of marriages end in divorce, why is divorce still legal? Why is adultery not punishable by steep jail terms?
These Republican fucks are trying to turn the U.S. into a fucking theocracy. It's gonna be nice watching them crash and burn...
The problem with this debate is that the audience wasn't using the right argument. The issue here isn't: marriage for everyone, it's, discrimination based on sexual orientation. With interracial marriage, it was discrimination based on skin color. Both race and sexual orientation are inherent and should be protected. Santorum's attempt at equating it to polygamy is invalid because polygamy is not inherent. Bottom line: Polygamy does not equal sexual orientation; apple does not equal orange.
Unfortunately, Santorum has stated that he does not believe in the separation in church and state, according to him, he doesn't think it was "the founders' vision". Kinda funny since I thought the founding fathers came to the US to escape religious persecution.
@HammerInPeace Did you know that most of the founding fathers weren't even that religous or Christain. Ex. George Washington, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, etc. These cult-er I mean religous people just keep trying to find excuses to why they are right and eventually they start saying they're right because it says so in the bible of they say the old kindergarten method,"I'm right and you're wrong.
I don't agree that a child can only have a normal and healthy life in a man and woman family. What if they're both completely drugged out? & then you have a gay couple who are loving, caring etc. and would do anything to take care of a child properly? So according to him, the man and woman relationship would still be the right one?
So what would he say to someone who is atheist? Or not Catholic. Is America not a country in which church and state are separated? And what does he say to a couple who is infertile. They do not have that "special union" because they cannot create children by his standard; so they shouldn't be married? This guy is a dumb ass.
This is not a topic about religion its a topic about human rights and AMERICAN rights. As an American citizen we should realize that this is unconstitutional to deny someone the right to marry. If we look back at the Loving v. Virginia case, this had to do with interracial marriage the state believed it was wrong to mix race's.The supreme court over turned the rulling and deemed that this goes against the 14th amendment. Please people enform your self about the past.Peoples rights are being denyed.
Santorum is just a religious fanatic who believes his definition of marriage is the only one that applies.Nobody is trying to make polygamy legal for traditional marriage 2men&1women or 2women&1man.Santorum is just trying to change the argument. The debate is about any 2 people being married. Its disgusting how under the umbrella of christianity guys like santorum justify there blatant prejudices. The most dangerous leader any country can have is a religious fanatic.
Countries with same-sex marriage: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Iceland, Israel, Mexico, The Netherlands, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, United States
Countries that allow some form of polygamy: Iraq, Malawi, Libya, Namibia, and Uganda
Ugh, these irrelevant arguments hurt my head. Must. Stay. Focused. I've never been big on politics so I'm trying to learn more and educate myself as well as keep up more with current politics. Thanks for posting, I really hope this guy doesn't end up winning. D:
The uniqueness of marriage is that it is an EXCLUSIVE lifetime commitment - polygamy is an INCLUSIVE commitment - if this guy is a lawyer he should knows that ?
Wow those kids are such hypocrites. They demand to be allowed to marry someone of the same sex but aren't tolerant of someone who wants to marry several different people of the opposite sex? Why are gay people so intolerant?
@VitalSigns1 Hmmm.. So I guess straight people are all polygamists. So if straight people so tolerant of polygamy then why are they so intolerant of gay marriage. Wow, straight people are such hypocrites..
@Aphoresis Well then by replying to me for the comment I made to VitalSigns1 then you are definitely right on track about somebody incapable of reasoning. Because maybe you didn't get it. But I used sarcasm and the same exact logic. So by saying that it my response was of someone who is incapable of reasoning you are saying that VS1 is incapable of reasoning. I agree with you that my response wss rediculous. Once again. I used the SAME LOGIC. So thanks for agreeing that VS1's logic is idiotic.
He is so wrong. He needs to ANSWER the question instead of firing back with another question. He is there to answer questions and make points and he should understand that it is unnecessary to make a point by asking a question. Also, what is with the condescending tone... they're educated, curious college students. He is being rude them. He should try to answer a question properly instead of lecturing them about having a proper discussion.
He IS answering the question, the problem is they have never been taught how to reason, and so they can not recognize it. They are not educated, they are certified by apparently worthless institutions of primary education.
if you saw the first part of this clip you know that the girl offering the original question could barely formulate coherent sentences.
These kids have been taught NOT to think, and to believe what they are told by their teachers and professors. .
@Aphoresis that sounds familiar. It's just like the uneducated people who go to church. They can''t think for themselves. They believe what they are told by their priests and pastors.
The last thing this country needs is an ultracatholic homophobe. He would turn this country into a catholic state, listen to the guy in Rome with the funny hat, and send us back to the fucking dark ages! Look at the last time the Catholic Church ran anything outside of themselves....... corruption, manipulation, murder, war, and scientific oppression, not in the name of God that was a front, but to keep that little bit of power.
I respect how Mr Santorum can disagree with gay marriage while maintaining his professionalism and composure. On the same note; I have no respect for those who disagree with his opinion and resort to name calling and yelling like a bunch of immature, spoiled little kids!
Gay and straight marriage are both examples of two people getting married. Why does this guy think a male/male relationship validates polygamy anymore than a male/ female relationship.
And I apologize for my language but this is just too damned much. All these years and people can't get it through their heads...If you don't like gay marriage, then don't marry a gay person., END OF STORY!!! Now lets move on to fixing our economy, our educational system, and befriending the world. wow...I managed to not throw in a curse word....lol.
@Jack4nd1 I wasn't apologizing to your ass..I could give four fucks what someone who agrees with Assholetorum thinks of me. Because if you think like him. You are already a warped, judgemental fuck like him. So I'm not at all worried about what credibility I might have with you. GET OVER YOURSELF!
@Jack4nd1 Because no matter what I say. You immediately counter it with negativety, and act like a victim. As you yourself said. TOO LATE. My "VILE LANGUAGE" killed any credibility no? Well then fuck it. Why stop now? And all this talk and linking gays to bestiality, polygamy, incest, pedophiles...ect... PISSES ME OFF!! Gays already are discriminated against and lies are made up of them when they want to fight for their rights. People like Rick say shit like. Gays want special rights.
@Jodienda76 Well I'm sick of people like you persecuting people with different views than you. Santorum is trying to make an argument why gay marriage is not the same thing as a marriage between a man and a woman. He is not saying that it's wrong to be gay, or live with the person you love. Instead of respectfully engaging in his argument and debating it with rational reason, you immediately dismiss him and call him horrible things. Is that fair? Do you see the problem?
@Jack4nd1 UM...Santorum OBVIOUSLY believes that there is something wrong with gay people. He is against them serving in the military. And polygamy, is not the same thing as two people getting married. He ALWAYS speaks negatively about gay people so I'm not dismissing a goddamned thing. I'm hearing his own words. And yes, I see a problem with persecuting and pervertising gay people with that kind of irrational rhetoric. I've heard him in many occasions and instances. Not just this one.
@Jack4nd1 And like I said. Someone who is running for anything in politics who speaks on his views and plans to make bills to BLOCK people he dosen't agree with goes beyond speaking his mind or giving his view. He will use his power to block and stop gays from pracicing thier rights. This asshole has also said that gay people want "SPECIAL RIGHTS"....Can you explain in great detail what "special rights" they want, since you are such a Santorum defender? Or are you yourself Santorum?
@Jodienda76 Men and women are different. If gay marriage is going to be recognized as the same thing as a marriage between a man and a women, then you are essentially saying that men and women are the same thing, which they are not. Gays are entitled their rights to live together and be happy, and have steady jobs and be treated as equals. But this notion that their union is to be classified as the same thing as a marriage is an example of them wanting "special rights."
@Jack4nd1 I read this, and you people wonder why people like us haven't gone postal on your asses yet. Since that dosen't explain what "special rights" are. Can you then tell me. What is the danger, or how will this affect straight marriage. Is this going to make you and Rick gay?
@Jack4nd1 And you speak of this as if Men and Women are a different species. Gay people do not share the same LEGAL rights as straight people and straight married people. In many states like mine, it is legal to fire a person with a steady job because they are gay. So if gays fight for the right to work. I guess that would be considered them wanting "special rights" also.
Rick Santorum has all the logic of a mentally-inhibited middle schooler.
How does someone so arrogantly selfish and ignorant even survive to his age? He's living on outdated principles in order to deny others rights that they have by default.
I will never understand this slippery slope argument. When two men or two women want to marry, why would the next logical step be three or four people marrying? That argument isn't used when referring to heterosexual couples. What makes it different for gay and lesbian couples? What is so complicated about defining marriage as between two consenting adults?
@theopenmind05 Because this is the way it works. There's a case in the Canadian courts with a chap arguing that he should be allowed to marry several wives because there is already a reletivised view with the introduction of gay marriage.
@theopenmind05 Because it would destroy society, the deception of "gay" marriage isn't openly obvious. A man cant be a mother, a woman cant be a father. Think about the child, think about their child's children if they adopted, how will they know how to father or mother their own kids if two men or two women raised them if they happen to be straight, which 98% of the population is? The purpose of marriage is to start a family between a man and woman who love each other.
@pimper347 Divorce and bad parenting is what's destroying society. As long as a child is raised in a nurturing, loving, and stable environment, it doesn't matter if it's two men, two women, or a man and a woman. Remember this: the children that are adopted by gays were abandoned by straights. Newsflash: straight couples raise gay children and do just fine. Why would a gay couple have trouble raising a straight child if a straight couple can raise a gay child?
@theopenmind05 It's wrong for someone to say gay marriage shouldn't be allowed, but it's ok for someone to say polygamy shouldn't be? That's a little hypocritical. If Rick Sanotrum doesn't have the right to say a specific type of marriage isn't allowed, what would give you or anyone else the right to do that?
he is merely a distraction to hoard votes. he in no way could stand as the GOP against Obama when his religious based view come into play when making government decisions and would insure a second term for Obama if put against him. liberals, libertarian, Inde, and Dems would not agree with his secular views if brought to there attention. having faith is good but when faith impedes on the decision for an entire nation that is built on the foundation of multi cultures and beliefs its not good.
WAY WOULD SOM 1 WHAT A RACIST PRESIDENT IN THE CHAIR SO IT WILL BE MORE RACIST PPL AND IT BAD ENOUGH THAT THESE REPUBLICAN PPL OUT HERE GOT THESE REBEL FLAG HANGIN EVERY WHERE AND HATIN PPL THAT ARE BLACK AND WHITE COUPLE LIKE US: MARTIN LUTHER KING DID NUT WHAT RACIST PPL NO MORE IT 2012 NUT RACIST DAYS PPL ! ! !
Lets end this debate that does nothing but divide the country in half and cause hatred. Lets get the government out of marriage. There, problem solved, lets have peace
As a Christian I don't understand the ignorance of these evangelical Christian folks who do gatherings like this and then focus on things like abortion and homosexuality. First off, about eight years ago while scanning radio stations I came upon Focus On The Family where the host was noting that divorce was higher amongst Christians than non-Christians. This was years before the same sex marriage laws. So blaming same sex marriage for the high divorce rates is both illiterate and disingenuous
It would appear that the Prime Minister of India - Manmohan Singh, and the ruling Congress party leader Sonia Gandhi have joined forces with the most dreaded force known to man - Lawyers, and are now vying for the title of 'The Biggest Puddle of Santorum in India'.
Maybe Santorum Americanus should join forces with Santorum Indicum and jointly sue the likes of Google, Yahoo, and Facebook. We can call it 'The Grand Santorum Technicum'!
what is his thought process on why the students are simply saying, why can't "2" man get married and he goes on about polgamy and says @ 2:54, if it is okay for 2, why not 3. The students weren't even arguing about 3. just saying 2 men created equal, should have the same rights....anyhow. thank god I am democrat. It should be left up to the states decision and not forced down by federal government. That is what I belive. If you dont belive in gay marriage,
To be a Christian you first have to suspend all common sense and logical thought. They think blind faith in religious dogma gives them license to condemn anyone who doesn't believe in their primitive superstitions. It gives them great sense of security to believe they 'know" something that can't be known. They often become verbally abusive when you point out the absurdity of their position.
This man is a total pig and a jack-ass! There is a big difference between gay marriage, polygamy, ect... You assholes that link gay marriage with anything other that TWO PEOPLE WHO LOVE EACH OTHER enjoying the same rights.... must be sick yourselves and YES! you are nothing but pure bigotted cunts. It's a good thing this homophobic, racist piece of shit isn't going anywhere.
@Jodienda76 Whether you agree or not with him, he is entitled to his reasonable opinion. That is what America is all about. And when you use horrible language like that condemning him of that right to free speech, you are acting like someone who believes in totalitarianism because you are accusing him of "thought crime."
@Jack4nd1 That is not a REASONABLE opinion. Second of all. This sick pig is trying to run for president and run this country based on HIS RELIGIOUS, BIGOTTED, and SICK BELIEFS!!! This isn't just an "opinion" This is an idea he will instill to try to block others from practicing their constitutional rights. So please take your bullshit anywhere. These fuck faces running for presidency need to keep their asses out of people's bedrooms.
@Jodienda76 Well then you're calling me a religious bigot. I'm all for staying out of people's way and keeping my ass out of peoples' bedrooms. Tell me. Why should I have to change what I think about something? Just because I believe marriage should be a certain way, I'm automatically a bigot? It's persecution when we can't express what our side believes on this issue without being criticized.
@Jack4nd1 You can THINK whatever the hell you want. But if you plan on running a country based on those beliefs...That where the problem is. And sorry. But homosexuality, polygamy, pedophilia, are NOT the same thing. I know I unfourtunately can't change the way someone who is a bigot to think. But don't try to impose it on others. And if Dick Santorum becomes president he will have the power to do just that.
@Jodienda76 If gay marriage is about two people loving each other; than I should be able to marry my 19 year old son, or daughter for that matter and be intitled to all the benefits of other married couples!
@CSDJK1 So I guess so have sex with your son and daughter then. You people who spew this rhetoric are so goddamned stupid. Yet you whine and cry about people being disrespectful to you. I guess I don't have to tell you that there is a diffrerent kind of LOVE between a son, daughter, grandfather, and someone you are attracted to physically and sexually. If that's the case. Then it's wrong for ANYBODY to get married. Men with women, women with men. ect.... You guys are idiots.
@timhgy A bigot is a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices, especially one exhibiting intolerance, and animosity toward those of differing beliefs. Those on the side of gay marriage are the true bigots, listen to what Mr. Santorum says he makes sense, because someome feels they should have multiple partners in a marriage does not lead to a marriage. Those who want to keep marriage as it was intended are not the bigots.
@missyfrancis1 Mr Santorum is indeed a bigot and I might add a hypocrite as well.If Mr. Santorum's true concern is the so called slippery slope argument, I might remind him (and you apparently) that the slippery slope was clearly established when the first State issued its first marriage license to a man and a woman. However, Mr. Santorum draws the line right after(conveniently)he andhis family have received all the rights, benefits, privileges and protections of civil marriage.
@Aphoresis Yes it is. It's the classic slippery slope. If two women should be allowed to marry, then why not three people? I'm just surprised that Mr. Santorum didn't bring in bestiality as his next boogeyman. He certainly has never been reticent about using this tired old canard before. Mr. Santorum is an unreconstructed bigot who believes that government should be used to withhold state issued licenses predicated on his particular religious beliefs.
@Aphoresis Rational thought is most assuredly not dead. What is dying however is the irrational hatred and prejudice against gay people and this compulsion by many right wing politicians to deny them rights, benefits and privileges that most other Americans enjoy and take for granted.
I also read tonight in my local newspaper that a marriage eqality bill has been introduced into the Maryland State legislature. Progress!
When the terms "reason" and "rationality" become synonymous with accepting a set of pre-established conclusions rather than a METHOD and a PROCESS of thinking and of arriving at conclusions, rational thought is dead.
@Aphoresis Unless of course one is in agreement with the pre-established conclusion (that a state civil license be withheld from gay couples) of Mr. Santorum, correct?
@timhgy When the terms "reason" and "rationality" become synonymous with accepting a set of pre-established conclusions rather than a METHOD and a PROCESS of thinking and of arriving at conclusions, rational thought is dead.
It didn't need to be elaborated, it needed to be repeated for someone who apparently either didn't hear it, didn't understand it, or refused to accept it.
@Aphoresis But on the bright side, I heard today that there are now enough votes in both houses of that State's legislature to pass a marriage equality bill!!! Hooray!
In the not too distant future we will look back at these statements from bigots such as Mr. Santorum with the same feelings of incredulity and disgust that we feel when we watch those grainy black and white movie images of George Wallace standing in the school house door. Regards
There are many christian denominations that perform same sex marriages, e.g. Quackers. They have the same bible as you do. You don’t really think that god is telling them something different than he is telling you, do you? You can be certain that if god hates all the same people as you do that you have created god in your own image. Don’t justify your homophobic hate by blaming god. You are responsible for your own irrational prejudices.
No wonder more and more straight white guys are marrying latin and asian women. White american girls, like the one in this video, are all now anti-moralist, libtarded sluts who are out of touch with their evolutionary-biological instincts. I think it's great that China and India are rising, America doesn't deserve to be the leader of the world anymore.
@Siroucity Because his views are so repressive you can't help but say something. It's America, he has yet to describe the threat to anyone by letting gays get married. He's just not used to it. Economy or not, he's being brashly "un-american" with this nonsense.
@Siroucity Yeah I suppose when gay people kill themselves 3x more, and are abandoned by their parents when they are young isn't a serous issue? We used to have discrimination against colored people, now we have discrimination against gay people. These are both SEROUS issues.
@vict0r45454545 It's an issue but not a serious issue. "Colored people" were much more heavily discriminated than gays today. A large portion of the Earth's population is affected by our economic depression which is much more an issue than if gays can be legally married. I'm 100% for the legalization of gay marriage but we need to get this crisis under control.
@orland9999 Just want to point out the implied flaw in this. Like Mark Twain said there are 3 kinds of lies, Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics.
"Fastest Growing" is the perhaps the least helpful statistic of all. If 1 black person has HIV and next week theres 4, thats 400% growth! Amazing, right? Not really. HIV cases have historically been disproportionately gay males. And they continue to make up the bulk of outstanding cases. I know people don't like to hear that.
I cant' agree with sid89ul2 with his comments, I am however in agreement with Santorum on this issue.
He does pose a logical fallacy with the approach of marriage for gays be legalized, at least the approach that gay marriage should become law, but that triple-man marriage shouldn't be. It is logical.
There are simply too many studies that have taken place over years of research and observation that show that children raised by two men or two women have many more issues and negative tendancies
@bawward I highly doubt that gays have a negative effect on children. If anything, they will raise them to be more open minded and accepting of others. The only negative affect that i can think of is that the child may be bullied in school.
@noblered5 after some research, it seems that those who practice gay lifestyles and those raised by gays have a 20% shorter life expectancy (as with smoking and other dangerous lifestyles) more prone to psychological disorders, gender and role confusion and societal roles, also lifestyles (bi, les, gay) have a much increased risk of depression, HIV, Aids, drug abuse, all of this children being exposed to in a gay household. gay marriage would also hurt the social structure of marriage
@bawward Through my research i found absolutely no negative affects that gay parents have on children. They are just like 'normal' people raised by heterosexual parents. Also, im pretty sure that adoption agencies screen the mentally unstable and drug addicts out. Or at least make an attempt to.
@noblered5 parents have an effect on children just by BEING their parents. On average a happily married gay man will have 8 other partners in a year NOT including his legal partner; 60% of gays report sex outside of their marriage and 90% within the first 5 years. In other words there is no commitment to the relationship, that will harm children JUST like divorce does harm children, those stats would also apply. in the netherlands (where gay marriage is ok and socially acceptable) a
@bawward study was completed, published in the "Archives of General Psychiatry" and found a very high rate of psychiatric disease associated w/ SS and SSM. compared to hetro controls homosexuals were much more to experience major depression, bipolar disorder, agoraphobia, obsessive compulsive dis, and lesbians especially risked social phobia, alcohol dependance and major depression. SSM and SS is an unhealthy lifestyle that WILL affect children. logically, because we know that being
@bawward exposed to smoke as a child greatly increases the chances of lung cancer, asma, etc, we know and say that it is much more unsafe to grow up in a smokers house than a nonsmoker. in the same manner, SSM is unsafe, uncommitted to the relationship of society as a married unit (especially in the gay community), lowers personal standards when it comes to mates and self-view (increased reckless behavior sexually). it shortens your lifespan. THAT isn't a good place for kids to grow up.
@shenadoa eh, doesn't matter how I know it, or who makes fun of me, the facts stands and create a powerful argument, regardless of how much you do/don't like it. I never made fun of you sir.
@shenadoa great non-conversation worth anything my friend, it was a nice distraction, a beautiful ploy to change topics amongst the shallow personal attacks. instead of dancing around and saying nothing why don't you just say what you think? then when folks see what you actually think (especially when viewing your multiple other comments on this video) they'll understand truly where you're coming from. stop hiding.
@bawward My point is quite clear. "Dogmas ---- religious, political, scientific ---- arise out of the erroneous belief that thought can encapsulate reality or truth. Dogmas are collective conceptual prisons. And the strange thing is that people love their prison cells because they give them a sense of security and a false sense of “I know. Nothing has inflicted more suffering on humanity than its dogmas.” Feel free to reply, you are more than welcome to the last word.
@shenadoa Sir, I feel sorry for you, trapped in your own personal "dogma prison", regardless of its sense of security. I said nothing about my personal or religious beliefs, rather stated observed fact, a multitude of reasons why gay lifestyles (and marriage) is dangerous to children, society and the gay community themselves. That's all. I don't want to legalize that. Also, you never stated anything regarding your point until now, strictly name calling and personal attacks). last word
@shenadoa do you want to continue with the conversation? I wouldn't, especially if my opening was, "I highly doubt that gays have a negative effect on children. If anything, they will raise them to be more open minded and accepting of others. The only negative affect that i can think of is that the child may be bullied in school." = There's no point to continuing to talk to you, when you know more and get off the emotional and personal reactions, we will talk again.
@noblered5 gay lifestyle isn't stable either. 43% of gays have over 500 (?!?) partners, 79% were strangers, only 3% have less than 10 (Study of Diversity of Men & Women) - in 2000, 12% of gays were in a "monogamous relationship", in a gay house 50% of gay sons and 2/11 of lesbian children have been involved w/ incest, 48% of lesbian and 38% of gay home have had domestic violence, - Journal of Public Health
@bawward I find it extremely hard to believe that any one would have 500 partners. Gays cheat just as much as strait men. Also The American Academy of Pediatrics found no negative affect that gay parents have on their children. Do you really think that any parent cheats with 8 other people? Gays are just like you and me. Any mental, or drug related problems is the result of living as a minority in an hostile and close minded society.
@bawward You're way off, but everyones allowed their opinion. The majority of studies don't claim that, besides, you could say most woman raising their kid alone have problems, but we don't prevent woman from raising them. We don't take the kid and say "off to an orphanage, dads gone." This is america, where's your head? They should be allowed and in many places are. As for polygamy it is not a logical comparison to gays, polygamists aren't marching the streets by the millions asking for rights.
@jaggerlags only 2% of gay men reach age 65, they are 14x moreto attempt suicide and 3.5x more to succeed, much higher rates of mal-adjustment, depression, conduct disorder, domestic violence, substance abuse, anxiety, dependency on psychiatric car, HIV and AIDS, Urethritis, Laryngitis, Prostatitis, Herp A and B, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, genital worts, genital cancer, lesbians 3x more likely to develop breast cancer - theres the "study" facts - Journal of Gay and Lesbian Med
@bawward "Only 2%" are you kidding? Listing the diseases gay people can get is appalling, I'm sorry you still aren't telling me how they're hurting you. Your justification for repression is pretty unfortunate. I think you an I are going to have to agree to disagree- this is your second message to me and you've really opened my eyes to the level of ignorance that fuels good meaning people. I'm not trying to be mean, I truly mean this, you have no idea how you sound. Let people be who they are.
@jaggerlags you're right, we don't say, "off to an orphanage", and yet clearly the BEST option and only one you can morally make legal is one man, one woman, we NEVER try to get one woman to raise a kid by herself or with a "domestic partner", ever, that's a whole bunch of more stats showing how bad on kids a divorce is.
so the difference "logically" in your opinion between polygamy and gays is how loud you yell? remember Utah trying to leave the union? it yelled pretty loud.
@bawward Polygamy doesn't hurt anyone or marriage. You're so studied, you've got all your stats, but none of it adds up to why gays aren't allowed to do what they want. It's disgusting, you think gay people can't start a family. I heard all your percentages, and I'm not taking you seriously. I'm sorry, I'm sure you mean it, but you're only a bigot with numbers if you believe you've proved something and other people don't deserve your rights. I hope you get over this someday, I really do.
@jaggerlags I said and proved that gay marriage affects children in multiple horrible ways, it puts that gay community (and thus everyone else) at many other major health and psychiatric risks. it's more than just "we love each other, let us get married", no, that would affect society as a whole, no question. it makes marriage whatever you want it to be, which is then nothing. it's not safe for anyone, you're not an island.
@bawward and now we're trying to legalize polygamy now? well basically that's what gay marriage is anyway (again, look at the stats, its not MARRIAGE ie a life long loving and fully exclusive commitment.) This is funny, a bigot? You're initial comments were "doesn't harm children, no facts, doesn't hurt ANYONE. you were wrong. Now that you see it, it's back to name hurling and "bigot" calling, next thing I'm racist? You have nothing to say other than discredit me personally. stop. think
@bawward You have not convinced me your idea of a perfect family is what trumps millions of other peoples rights. I suggest putting the charts and graphs away. This unfortunately went nowhere. Goodbye.
@orland9999 U r a fucktard. "Homosexual sex does not cause someone to get hiv"! R u kidding me? THere is a ton of scientific evidence to prove that it does. I never claimed homosexuals were currently the fastest growing trend u faggot. I never said unsafe heterosexual promiscuity is fine. Instead I said homosexual sex and promiscuity in general cause AIDS. Don't make shit up and put words in my mouth u dumbshit.
@cigars777 Homosexual sex does not cause someone to get HIV...having sex with a HIV infected partner does. What is so hard 4 U to understand about that you stupid ass mother fucker? Show me evidence that 2 uninfected gays will get HIV from having sex? U are as fucking stupid as the day is long. How long have U had shit for brains? BTW For someone who does not like gays U sure do seem to be obsessed with them (as seen in youtube history).

He is talking about multiple people marrying all in a whole. But I do not believe that the moral values of a human is to disgrace a group of people, who have the same basic freedoms as everybody else , in a whole just because you do not believe it is what God had planned for us.

Jodienda76 1 month ago
Jack4nd1 1 month ago
@Jack4nd1 UM...Santorum OBVIOUSLY believes that there is something wrong with gay people. He is against them serving in the military. And polygamy, is not the same thing as two people getting married. He ALWAYS speaks negatively about gay people so I'm not dismissing a goddamned thing. I'm hearing his own words. And yes, I see a problem with persecuting and pervertising gay people with that kind of irrational rhetoric. I've heard him in many occasions and instances. Not just this one.
Jodienda76 1 month ago
@Jack4nd1 And like I said. Someone who is running for anything in politics who speaks on his views and plans to make bills to BLOCK people he dosen't agree with goes beyond speaking his mind or giving his view. He will use his power to block and stop gays from pracicing thier rights. This asshole has also said that gay people want "SPECIAL RIGHTS"....Can you explain in great detail what "special rights" they want, since you are such a Santorum defender? Or are you yourself Santorum?
Jodienda76 1 month ago
@Jodienda76 Men and women are different. If gay marriage is going to be recognized as the same thing as a marriage between a man and a women, then you are essentially saying that men and women are the same thing, which they are not. Gays are entitled their rights to live together and be happy, and have steady jobs and be treated as equals. But this notion that their union is to be classified as the same thing as a marriage is an example of them wanting "special rights."
Jack4nd1 1 month ago
@Jack4nd1 I read this, and you people wonder why people like us haven't gone postal on your asses yet. Since that dosen't explain what "special rights" are. Can you then tell me. What is the danger, or how will this affect straight marriage. Is this going to make you and Rick gay?
Jodienda76 1 month ago
@Jack4nd1 And you speak of this as if Men and Women are a different species. Gay people do not share the same LEGAL rights as straight people and straight married people. In many states like mine, it is legal to fire a person with a steady job because they are gay. So if gays fight for the right to work. I guess that would be considered them wanting "special rights" also.

I will never understand this slippery slope argument. When two men or two women want to marry, why would the next logical step be three or four people marrying? That argument isn't used when referring to heterosexual couples. What makes it different for gay and lesbian couples? What is so complicated about defining marriage as between two consenting adults?
theopenmind05 1 month ago 19
@theopenmind05 Because this is the way it works. There's a case in the Canadian courts with a chap arguing that he should be allowed to marry several wives because there is already a reletivised view with the introduction of gay marriage.
Ohyewildthong 3 weeks ago
@theopenmind05 Because it would destroy society, the deception of "gay" marriage isn't openly obvious. A man cant be a mother, a woman cant be a father. Think about the child, think about their child's children if they adopted, how will they know how to father or mother their own kids if two men or two women raised them if they happen to be straight, which 98% of the population is? The purpose of marriage is to start a family between a man and woman who love each other.
pimper347 2 weeks ago
@pimper347 Divorce and bad parenting is what's destroying society. As long as a child is raised in a nurturing, loving, and stable environment, it doesn't matter if it's two men, two women, or a man and a woman. Remember this: the children that are adopted by gays were abandoned by straights. Newsflash: straight couples raise gay children and do just fine. Why would a gay couple have trouble raising a straight child if a straight couple can raise a gay child?
theopenmind05 2 weeks ago
@theopenmind05 Because for people like Santorum, being gay is sodomy, an aberration like let's say three people marrying will also be. What a dork.

Why are we debating about gay marriage when we should be focusing on ideas to fix our economy?

@Siroucity
hahhaa. ask the idiots at fox news
CYILATOR 1 month ago
@Siroucity Because his views are so repressive you can't help but say something. It's America, he has yet to describe the threat to anyone by letting gays get married. He's just not used to it. Economy or not, he's being brashly "un-american" with this nonsense.
jaggerlags 1 month ago
@jaggerlags At the moment, I don't give a shit if he supports gay marriage or not. We have serious other problems...
Siroucity 1 month ago
@Siroucity Yeah I suppose when gay people kill themselves 3x more, and are abandoned by their parents when they are young isn't a serous issue? We used to have discrimination against colored people, now we have discrimination against gay people. These are both SEROUS issues.
vict0r45454545 1 month ago 2

@shenadoa lovely reply my friend, way to encourage discussion.
bawward 1 month ago
@bawward I highly doubt that gays have a negative effect on children. If anything, they will raise them to be more open minded and accepting of others. The only negative affect that i can think of is that the child may be bullied in school.
noblered5 1 month ago
@noblered5 after some research, it seems that those who practice gay lifestyles and those raised by gays have a 20% shorter life expectancy (as with smoking and other dangerous lifestyles) more prone to psychological disorders, gender and role confusion and societal roles, also lifestyles (bi, les, gay) have a much increased risk of depression, HIV, Aids, drug abuse, all of this children being exposed to in a gay household. gay marriage would also hurt the social structure of marriage
bawward 1 month ago
@bawward Through my research i found absolutely no negative affects that gay parents have on children. They are just like 'normal' people raised by heterosexual parents. Also, im pretty sure that adoption agencies screen the mentally unstable and drug addicts out. Or at least make an attempt to.
noblered5 1 month ago
@noblered5 parents have an effect on children just by BEING their parents. On average a happily married gay man will have 8 other partners in a year NOT including his legal partner; 60% of gays report sex outside of their marriage and 90% within the first 5 years. In other words there is no commitment to the relationship, that will harm children JUST like divorce does harm children, those stats would also apply. in the netherlands (where gay marriage is ok and socially acceptable) a
bawward 1 month ago
@bawward study was completed, published in the "Archives of General Psychiatry" and found a very high rate of psychiatric disease associated w/ SS and SSM. compared to hetro controls homosexuals were much more to experience major depression, bipolar disorder, agoraphobia, obsessive compulsive dis, and lesbians especially risked social phobia, alcohol dependance and major depression. SSM and SS is an unhealthy lifestyle that WILL affect children. logically, because we know that being
bawward 1 month ago
@bawward exposed to smoke as a child greatly increases the chances of lung cancer, asma, etc, we know and say that it is much more unsafe to grow up in a smokers house than a nonsmoker. in the same manner, SSM is unsafe, uncommitted to the relationship of society as a married unit (especially in the gay community), lowers personal standards when it comes to mates and self-view (increased reckless behavior sexually). it shortens your lifespan. THAT isn't a good place for kids to grow up.

@bawward Having a conversation with yourself? I bet that's how you learned so much.

Nothing has inflicted more suffering on humanity than its dogmas.” Feel free to reply, you are more than welcome to the last word.
shenadoa 1 month ago

The only negative affect that i can think of is that the child may be bullied in school." = There's no point to continuing to talk to you, when you know more and get off the emotional and personal reactions, we will talk again.
bawward 1 month ago
@noblered5 gay lifestyle isn't stable either. 43% of gays have over 500 (?!?) partners, 79% were strangers, only 3% have less than 10 (Study of Diversity of Men & Women) - in 2000, 12% of gays were in a "monogamous relationship", in a gay house 50% of gay sons and 2/11 of lesbian children have been involved w/ incest, 48% of lesbian and 38% of gay home have had domestic violence, - Journal of Public Health
bawward 1 month ago
@bawward I find it extremely hard to believe that any one would have 500 partners. Gays cheat just as much as strait men. Also The American Academy of Pediatrics found no negative affect that gay parents have on their children. Do you really think that any parent cheats with 8 other people? Gays are just like you and me. Any mental, or drug related problems is the result of living as a minority in an hostile and close minded society.

bawward 1 month ago
@bawward You're way off, but everyones allowed their opinion. The majority of studies don't claim that, besides, you could say most woman raising their kid alone have problems, but we don't prevent woman from raising them. We don't take the kid and say "off to an orphanage, dads gone." This is america, where's your head? They should be allowed and in many places are. As for polygamy it is not a logical comparison to gays, polygamists aren't marching the streets by the millions asking for rights.
jaggerlags 1 month ago
@jaggerlags only 2% of gay men reach age 65, they are 14x moreto attempt suicide and 3.5x more to succeed, much higher rates of mal-adjustment, depression, conduct disorder, domestic violence, substance abuse, anxiety, dependency on psychiatric car, HIV and AIDS, Urethritis, Laryngitis, Prostatitis, Herp A and B, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, genital worts, genital cancer, lesbians 3x more likely to develop breast cancer - theres the "study" facts - Journal of Gay and Lesbian Med
bawward 1 month ago
@bawward "Only 2%" are you kidding? Listing the diseases gay people can get is appalling, I'm sorry you still aren't telling me how they're hurting you. Your justification for repression is pretty unfortunate. I think you an I are going to have to agree to disagree- this is your second message to me and you've really opened my eyes to the level of ignorance that fuels good meaning people. I'm not trying to be mean, I truly mean this, you have no idea how you sound. Let people be who they are.
jaggerlags 1 month ago
@jaggerlags you're right, we don't say, "off to an orphanage", and yet clearly the BEST option and only one you can morally make legal is one man, one woman, we NEVER try to get one woman to raise a kid by herself or with a "domestic partner", ever, that's a whole bunch of more stats showing how bad on kids a divorce is.
so the difference "logically" in your opinion between polygamy and gays is how loud you yell? remember Utah trying to leave the union? it yelled pretty loud.
bawward 1 month ago
@bawward Polygamy doesn't hurt anyone or marriage. You're so studied, you've got all your stats, but none of it adds up to why gays aren't allowed to do what they want. It's disgusting, you think gay people can't start a family. I heard all your percentages, and I'm not taking you seriously. I'm sorry, I'm sure you mean it, but you're only a bigot with numbers if you believe you've proved something and other people don't deserve your rights. I hope you get over this someday, I really do.
jaggerlags 1 month ago
@jaggerlags I said and proved that gay marriage affects children in multiple horrible ways, it puts that gay community (and thus everyone else) at many other major health and psychiatric risks. it's more than just "we love each other, let us get married", no, that would affect society as a whole, no question. it makes marriage whatever you want it to be, which is then nothing. it's not safe for anyone, you're not an island.
bawward 1 month ago
@bawward and now we're trying to legalize polygamy now? well basically that's what gay marriage is anyway (again, look at the stats, its not MARRIAGE ie a life long loving and fully exclusive commitment.) This is funny, a bigot? You're initial comments were "doesn't harm children, no facts, doesn't hurt ANYONE. you were wrong. Now that you see it, it's back to name hurling and "bigot" calling, next thing I'm racist? You have nothing to say other than discredit me personally. stop. think
bawward 1 month ago

Don't make shit up and put words in my mouth u dumbshit.
cigars777 1 month ago
@cigars777 Homosexual sex does not cause someone to get HIV...having sex with a HIV infected partner does. What is so hard 4 U to understand about that you stupid ass mother fucker? Show me evidence that 2 uninfected gays will get HIV from having sex? U are as fucking stupid as the day is long. How long have U had shit for brains? BTW For someone who does not like gays U sure do seem to be obsessed with them (as seen in youtube history).
