  • I don't think it's fair to assume all of us who voted for the president are anti gun. Some of us are actually NFA weapons collectors. I just snagged a BM59 select fire and I voted for the guy with no regrets.

  • The BM59 is a great rifle, but I have noticed that even semi-obscure rifles tend to get top billing in a comparison. M14 and BM59 each have advantages.

The BM59 was comparatively great in full auto for several reasons including a good muzzle brake and the muzzle heavy M1 based gas setup. Also worth noting BM59 mags were made like a bank vault. Cons? The BM59 was HEAVY to field and the M1G based gas system made the design inherently less accurate than the M14. Give both credit where due.

  • Oh man, that is so awesome.

  • My rifle!!!!

I spent the best year of my life with it.

  • Re: clit.... Educate yourself before you speak. Gunsmagazine 2002 combat annual has a great article on the BM59. And I just bought one, paperwork should be in any day- $200 ATF stamp is all you need and to live in a non faggot state or city. And its a great weapon that Beretta modified a M1 Garand, in fact mine came with a poster showing you which parts are modified and which are new. The one in this video is a heavy barreled friends of mine, legally registered

  • Happy you recognize it: secret is the muzzle breaker, it is conceived to tap recoil.

Italian military model has also a standard bipod and a second folding trigger for launching rifle granates (but it also come great for shooting with bear gloves.

There is alsoTA (alpine troops) vaiant with foldable stock and TP (para troops) with detachable muzzle breaker.

  • sorry man. i dont want to killing you.. sorry..

  • 1) You're all fucking retarded. The BM59 is a not a MODIFIED version of the M1. It is a gun with the firing mechanism BASED on the M1 Garand. A modification is when you actually modify the original fucking ignorant rednecks. That is not what happened here.

    2) The guy firing has (what very much looks like) an actual Italian army BM59..not the civilian version...where the fuck did he get it? Can you say ILLEGAL...or "property of the Italian army"?

    rednecks...

  • @clitorisninja666: take it easy dude.

Some of the first releases of the BM59 were made in fact with available parts of the M1, including re-chambered barrels.

  • i wouldnt be too suprised either way

the italians have made alot of shitty weapons during WW2

and been copying German, Belgian or American made weapons since

just like the M9, which is nothing more than a W-P38 with a longer slide that covers the barrel. More metal-more recoil, the Germans had it right the first time.

  • @clitorisninja666 the first models were made using licensed Garand rifle components made by Beretta after WW2, just adjusting some parts and replacing others.

  • @clitorisninja666 Yes it is a modified verison of the m1. Oh wait sucker your account is closed.

  • Hahaha look at that kid with his M1 garand.

  • The BM 59 is a modified version of the M1 Garand. The military version was adopted by the Italian military in 1959. It was produced in several different variants, i.e., pistol grip, folding stock ect. The cycle rate is app 750 rounds per minute. They were produced and sold to the private sector in semi automatic configeration and imported into this country in the late 1960,s. I own several in semi auto. PS, Browning Automatic Rifle magazines do not fit in the M14. I tried that for my M1A.

  • It's called too Garand 51 :D

  • is this civillian legal in the states?

  • to the OP, awesome video!

  • Let's not confuse technical terms like "assault rifle" with legal terms like "assault weapon". Assault rifles are selective fire, and chambered in intermediate calibers. Assault weapon is ANYTHING as defined as such by law. I can take my AK (an assault weapon here in Maryland) and cross the border into Pennsylvania, West Virginia or Virginia, and it magically becomes a regular ol' "long gun" or rifle.

  • Best assault rifle ever.

I used one when I were in yhe Italian Army.

    It scares you

  • is that some type of m14 varient

  • no, the BM-59 is completely different:

it was designed years before the M14 by Beretta to provide a new assault rifle to Italian Army in caliber 7.62 Nato

  • It wasen't an assault rifle either but a battle rifle because of the full sized rifle catridge it used.

  • so you would state that a Colt AR10 is NOT an Assault Rifle, "because of the full sized cartridge it uses"?

that doesn't seem accurate to me.

  • It's an assault rifle if it's select fire and fires an intermediate catridge that's the defination of one. If it's select fire and fires a full sized rifle catridge then it's a Battle Rifle.

  • go tell this to the Governor of California.

They still think an M14 is an assault rifle.

Plus Armalite themselves called the AR10 "Assault Rifle".. thus the AR suffix.

  • AR stands for Armalite model not Assault Rifle

  • I don't think so, but hey.. it's you the you the american here.

  • ar is for armalite. the company that originally produced the rifle.

  • wasnt it beretta?

  • Armalite made the ar15 which this comment was about. This rifle is was made by Beretta yes.

  • its basically the italians version of the m1 garand but they made it with a magazine

  • its an m1 garand that was modified to accept bar magazines and shoot full auto.

  • no, BAR magazines are for the m14, this is not the m14. BAR is 7,62x63 when the bm59 is 7,62x51

  • oh ok. the m14 is the same caliber as this rifle 7.62x51. i didnt realize they chambered the bm59 in that caliber. i thought it was still .30-06 or 7.62x63.

  • Best wood-steel battle rifle ever.

  • italian BM 59's are all going to be destroyed. unfortunately they don't want to convert them to semi and sell them. so... good bye old FAL (fucile automatico leggero). I had one in the Army in the late 80's. P version. ;)

  • Notice how the stock is straight instead of curved like the M14, this straight line stock helps make it more controlable.

  • I tried the paratroop model with the short barrel and the folding butt, it was a belter.

  • I am an American- Texan at that- and I will say the BM59 is a damn fine weapon. It is an Italian redesign and yes Springfield has was making them. But it fires much nicer and doesn't rise as much as the M14. We should have adopted it. They are abt $9000 for full auto

  • @zultar94 Beautiful weapon

  • @zultar94 Good man. I'm a Texan myself, and I'm damn glad to see a fellow Texan who has good taste in guns. Haven't seen a BM59 in a while either, unless you count the Springfield Armory semi-autos that crop up periodically. Damn shame there aren't more of 'em stateside. Ones I've handled can out shoot a National Match M1A without a problem.

  • Italians do it BETTER. C'è poco da fare!

  • I think this is what America should have done a gun like this instead of the M14.

  • made in italy!

  • @gippo88 So, what is the point?

  • Beretta sucks ?? XDDDDD

Beretta are the best in the world since ever , but they are superior quality weapons

    not for everyone.....

So you may stick to your shit hkusp45compact,

since you look not to know anything of the subject !

  • I agree, the Beretta BM59 was the king of all the Garand rifles .

  • Well, Even though I usually like Beretta firearms, I think they are sticking too much to fancy designs, trating guns like fashion clothes.

As a result, their products are always expensive, good looking (well, Kind of- I completely dislike the CX4 design, though it fires great), but the quality, well, it's good but still not eniugh for that much money.

The BM59 is great, anyway. of of their best products ever.

  • @357MB What are you talking about? Beretta produces some of the most reliable firearms available on the market.

  • It is impossible to find a full-auto version.

  • the BM59 is the king of all the Garand type rifles. You guys ought to know that the same people who have been making the M1A have also been making the BM-59 for the last 20 years!

Springfield Armory took over production of the BM59 from Beretta...

  • Beretta rulez ;)

  • It is far better and more reliable than m 14

  • Better gun than the very similar M14
