But in all honesty, considering the Toa Mata Nui is out, and they're releasing a Titan Mata Nui that has the Toa Ignika sized mask but in a goldish colour, is it still worth it to get him? I mean I like the skyboard, but on his own without the mask hes kinda simple. I have a few spare parts I could use to build him if I wanted to.

Not worth getting him if you can get the Mata Nui titan. This set was great in 2008, but not it'll be outdated rather quickly.

I read the mask turned silver to symbolize Mata Nui's death.

Actually, it went silver with the Mahri when Mata Nui died. When Matoro revived him it went back to gold for a while, but returned to silver while the Makuta were in Karda Nui. If the Makuta don't leave then it will turn black and drain all life.
