@miopizza go play skyrim then! FF never was entirely medieval even FF1 had some steam punk elements with the sky ships and such. Final Fantasy is a FANTASY genre game with bits of sci-fi and steam punk thats why we love it because its OWN thing... Or actually better yet go play WoW that has a medieval theme to it... So do like 99% of MMO`s today... Its like people are obcessed with knights and archers...

@EarthNinja797 Just on the "not getting it part", Almost all Final Fantasy games have their own separate story, you don't have to have played any of the previous games to understand whats going on in FF13 or in any of the other FF games. (Although, FFX-2 and the upcoming FF13-2 are sequels of original games)
I actually wouldn't mind getting this game...graphically, it's stunning. Final Fantasy? Yes please. Pay to play? I can put up with that. I pay to play free games because they're all so item shop dependent. (yeah it's my choice blah blah blah) so I wouldn't mind paying. Even if it's turn based, it'll feel like Atlantica or Eternal Sonata or...huh, go figure: Final Fantasy.

I think that the wii games are ok I played echo of time for wii graphics and combat system are a lot different that the PS and the old 1, 2, and 3 versions japanese and american NES and famicom games. FF 14 reminds me of crystal bearers which I am half way through on wii. i think the wii games were good just could have been better with combat.

At the moment the game is poor, even in the developers eyes it is so while they are working on fixing the game and bringing it up to a merchantable level it is free2play.
@LeonvanDelden You can pick it up for about 30-40EUR and it is free2play at the moment. Because it has alot of problems. And not bugs and stuff like that, but fundamental problems in the set up of the game. The game has the potential to be very good but so did Age of Conan and it is only now 3 years later that it is a great mmo.
This game however needs more then patching so I would not recommend it to anyone as I can think of nothing it holds over cheaper games in the same market.

The older FF's were best, the system we grew to love came from them, I have seen Versus XIII gameplay and its just to free, XII was pushing it but they kept it real, XIII tried a new fighting style (loved it) and it reminded me of the good old games, FF is epic in all ways from Story, to characters, even the music is fantastic, Square enix, stick with what you built, no need to make it like other games, FF is perfect the way it is
Your right but there is one thing which is good about this game well maybe two ok first thing is is that its on a Pc meaning people who have a Pc but dont have a playstation type of console or something will be able to play it without having to save up money second of all is that you can play with people all around the world but then again the sotry gets confusing

I guess the REASON they made FFXIII so free, is that it's sort of meant to be like Crisis Core, but it's battle is more of real life-ish and allows you to do whatever, not limiting you to gameplay like FF7 (I've got nothing against it, it's just an example). Sure, it's more or less an FPS rather than an RPG, but it still retains the RPG elements. If it didn't, then it wouldn't be called Final Fantasy. @xxuntouchablexx22 A lot of reasons. One main reason is the fatigue system. Players cant play their favorite class they have to switch all the time and lvl something else because there is a limit to how much xp you can get a week. Yes a real earth week. Which means the casual 2-3 hrs a week gamers will be able to keep up with the 40+ hr hardcore gamers. Boring combat. Consists of throwing enough players(meat) at a monster so your team has enough time to spam moves, instead of skill based kills.

i like innovation, there trying something new from what everyone else ranting about. I think its nice there trying to bring the series forward rather than at a stand still. People would get bored if there all the same. Sure it has its flaws but i think Sqaure Enix should still move forward with more innovative ideas. I cant comment on this game though, i have not played it as of yet.
@TheAdvancedHybrid I just read an article about this game and it says that Square Enix is going to use a Free-to-Play model. So it will not be pay to play like WoW. Just because is an MMO doesn't mean it needs to be Pay-to-play. Look at DDO ( dungeon and dragons online) which is free to play also an MMO.

@DanGG1990 Sure they were great, but FF13's battle system was brilliant. Plus why are people hyping up FF13-versus so much then? That gameplay is COMPLETELY different than any FF game. Of course since the Kingdom Hearts people are working on it too, but still.
@davidcuban2010 Trust me, it's worth it. It's had alot of bad Reviews due to being linear, but it's also received very positive Reviews (120/100 by one Site/Magazine).
The first 10 or so hours are rather boring and dull. The Combats simple, the Stories confusing and the Characters are annoying at times. But once you start getting settled in, it becomes amazing. I've played for over 200 Hours between 3 files and I'm still not done.
Give it a try, it becomes very addictive later on.
This game has great potential once they change some stuff like the UI and menus. However, for it to look as good as it does in the video you need a pretty high end computer. Either you run this game and it looks amazing, or it looks like shit. theres really no in between
Graphics definitly arent everything..the final fantasy series are an example. Voice acting in FF10 sucked...look at something like WoW, graphics arent too awesome, but the most suscribed game known to man. Or maybe Lord of the Rings Online, decent graphics but not great, but over a thousand hours of gameplay. (just kidding but i mean like alot of hours)
This is a lot more like FF11 than what I expected, I've been playing for a little over a month and (like most FF games) it's slow and confusing in the beginning, but if you put a little effort into it, ie; look up a guide or read about your class then it's pretty manageable. No, it's not for WoWtards who just want to punch the number pad, it requires some knowledge, skill, and patience in order to get around, but I assure you; what you put into the game you'll definitely get out.

@Emilklog Honestly this is nothing like wow. Its slow paced for a long time, the menus are clunky and slow, you need a very high end system to run it decently. Theres no easy way to form a party (no trade chat, lfg chat, etc.) Its difficult to find your way around, crafting skills take a long time to level up because each item takes like 3 minutes to make

All I'm saying is, if you've experiences something as high quality as wow, going to ffxiv is a major downgrade with a slow, clunky UI, a game that explains virtually nothing at all. This game looks cool but I wish the actual gamplay was more like WoW cause that game looks stupid but the gamplay is really pretty good but the game itself is kinda dark and stupid I like a good FF story with graphics and gameplay/controls to match.

This game really looks magical just like you could expect from ff. It looks like a fairy tale yet again. But correct me if im wrong, but it looks like the controls still need a lot of work unless you plan on playing with a gamepad.

you have to buy the game disk fromt eh store and instal it... right now its 30$ brought the price down couse it was bad. buy it now b4 they make it better and sell it for 60$ again. (hope tehy fix it ff11 is getting boreing.. + the graphics are to good to let the game go now..)

i like innovation, there trying something new from what everyone else ranting about. I think its nice there trying to bring the series forward rather than at a stand still. People would get bored if there all the same. Sure it has its flaws but i think Sqaure Enix should still move forward with more innovative ideas. I cant comment on this game though, i have not played it as of yet.

This is the PC version, The PS3 Version has yet to be released
And Yes you have to pay, for this is an MMO, Same as World Of Warcarft

@TheAdvancedHybrid I just read an article about this game and it says that Square Enix is going to use a Free-to-Play model. So it will not be pay to play like WoW. Just because is an MMO doesn't mean it needs to be Pay-to-play. Look at DDO ( dungeon and dragons online) which is free to play also an MMO.

@DanGG1990 Sure they were great, but FF13's battle system was brilliant. Plus why are people hyping up FF13-versus so much then? That gameplay is COMPLETELY different than any FF game. Of course since the Kingdom Hearts people are working on it too, but still.

@davidcuban2010 Trust me, it's worth it. It's had alot of bad Reviews due to being linear, but it's also received very positive Reviews (120/100 by one Site/Magazine).
The first 10 or so hours are rather boring and dull. The Combats simple, the Stories confusing and the Characters are annoying at times. But once you start getting settled in, it becomes amazing. I've played for over 200 Hours between 3 files and I'm still not done.
Give it a try, it becomes very addictive later on.

Graphics definitly arent everything..the final fantasy series are an example. Voice acting in FF10 sucked...look at something like WoW, graphics arent too awesome, but the most suscribed game known to man. Or maybe Lord of the Rings Online, decent graphics but not great, but over a thousand hours of gameplay. (just kidding but i mean like alot of hours)

This is a lot more like FF11 than what I expected, I've been playing for a little over a month and (like most FF games) it's slow and confusing in the beginning, but if you put a little effort into it, ie; look up a guide or read about your class then it's pretty manageable. No, it's not for WoWtards who just want to punch the number pad, it requires some knowledge, skill, and patience in order to get around, but I assure you; what you put into the game you'll definitely get out.

@Emilklog Honestly this is nothing like wow. Its slow paced for a long time, the menus are clunky and slow, you need a very high end system to run it decently. Theres no easy way to form a party (no trade chat, lfg chat, etc.) Its difficult to find your way around, crafting skills take a long time to level up because each item takes like 3 minutes to make

All I'm saying is, if you've experiences something as high quality as wow, going to ffxiv is a major downgrade with a slow, clunky UI, a game that explains virtually nothing at all. It is a very low quality product at the moment, but hopefully the coming updates will help remedy that
