true!.Any1 in power does do injustice to the weaker.Although every human being have equal rights, lets just see what U.S is doing in afghanistan, iraq .Even though people worldwide know who is doing wrong but somehow.World is full of racism. White man has more vaulable life den others
It is so very wrong. The U.S. does bear some responsibility.
It is my hope that with a new president we will move towards a more thoughtful approach to a very complicated situation. Good to see you Tony. Hang in there my friend.
Obama's first words saying he felt for victims on both sides was a good sign.
Sometimes in these situations it appears desperate but much diplomacy is happening that we only find out about years later if ever. That's my hope anyway.
"I argue that the United States bears a heavy moral responsibility for the slaughter."
Israel and only Israel is at fault for the conflict, since they have too much guilt and compassion to fight a proper war. Israel should take Gaza and expel its inhabitants-- war is war, someone wins, someone loses. The United States should be ashamed for trying to talk Israel into a phony peace with their barbaric neighbors; Israel's foolish restraint will keep this nonsense going for decades.
War is war but there are rules governing how wars are conducted and these rules include the notion of proportionality. While it is true that the actions of Hamas can rightly be described as barbaric, the bombarding of Gaza by land sea and air is hardly less so and I would imagine more Palestinian civilians have died these past 12 days than all the Israelis killed since the 1st intifada began decades ago. Thanks for the comment

Really? Were the imaginary rules being followed when Sherman destroyed Atlanta in 1864? What about the firebombing of Dresden in 1945?
"these rules include the notion of proportionality"
Proportionality is of no value in war. Your white guilt, ahem "rules" mean the stronger country will always be the oppressor, and the weaker country must be the victim, no matter who is to blame.
I agree with you that the bombing raids of WW2 brought about a fundamental where the majority of casualties are civilians rather than combatants.
I don't believe we should accept this as being irreversible.
The overuse of artillery and air strikes to minimise loss of American/British etc life cannot be justified if it causes excessive civilian casualties. As for white guilt I wonder what the American reaction would have been if Britain had dealt with Irish terrorism by bombing Belfast.
It is genocide, I have provided a link to the song War Crimes by The Specials aimed at Israel asking have they learnt nothing from their history. The song was in response to the massacres in the camps of Beirut in the 80's but substitute Gaza for Beirut and the song makes just as much sense.
we need this man as our president... unfortunate shame of your death, it honestly hurts my heart to know such a wise man fell to cancer. RIP

Although I am very critical of Israel, the state of Israel does have a right to exist and its people have a right to peace and security.
The people of Gaza have the right to peace
and they have the right to open borders so they can travel and so that their economy can flourish.
Thanks for the comment czarwright
