if we convert to fullframe that has less 1.5 crop factor, 8mm on APS-C format would be 12mm on a fullframe camera. And 11mm is equal to 16.5mm.
so if we are using a fullframe camera, the difference between 12mm and 16.5mm would be 4.5mm. And for me that's quite significant.
and about the f number (4.5 - 5.6), since its a wide angle lens mostly used for landscape or architecture. For me to take a picture of landscape, i never use small f number. usually i use 8 to 16 for the sharpness... IMHO :)
i am looking forward for the review.. Could you please show how much is the difference between 8 and 11 focal length? I want to see the comparison between this and tokina 11-16
@JogBird I doubt people who buy this lens are really that concerned with a slow lens, This would be perfect for landscape shots were your shooting at much smaller appertures for more depth in the shot.
Subscribed and like your stuff man... Though I think your lens review videos would look more enhanced by simply wearing a lighter color shirt so that we can actually see the lens throughout the review and not try to see it... just a suggestion... oh and some close ups of the lense or still images wouldn't hurt either...
I look forward to hearing what you think of this Lens in the field. I'm presently thinking of getting the Sigma 10-20, but will hold fire for a while.
Hi Matt! Is there anyway you can get your hands on Sigma 15mm diagonal fisheye? The regular fisheye has too much distortion but I've never used a diagonal one. I'd be using that on a full frame camera and I don't want the edges to be really distorted.
Maybe I could go with regular wide angle and come closer to the subject to get a little bit of distortion I'd like to add once in a while.
which one do you recommend? sigma 8-16mm + used nikon 17-55mm f2.8 or tokina 12-24mm f4 + sigma 24-70 f2.8 (can't afford the nikon 24-70). thanks!

Would it work on a camera such as the D3100 or D3000?
ProfessorOwen 5 months ago
@ProfessorOwen - Yes, it's an HSM lens so it'll work on the D3100, D3000, D5100, and other Nikon bodies with no built-in AF motors.

Too expensive for such a slow, slow lens.. the Tokina 11-16 is 2.8 and better built.

I truly prefer your reviews of sigma product over sigma themselves!

With an f-stop of 4.5 would you still get any decent depth of field/selective focus, and/or bokeh?
GorgovichStudios1 11 months ago
@GorgovichStudios1 Not with such an extreme wide angle, unless you get REALLY close :)
