  • For all you people who think sand is okay, it's not. In the wild these geckos are on hard packed clay. Sand WILL CAUSE IMPACTION and encourage irritated eyes. I know this because I've seen it first hand from friends. Check out my videos to see how they should be kept

  • wow nice leopard gecko! looks just like mine. is it normal for him to get darker?

  • lol spongebob in the backround

  • is thats sand or something else?

  • My gecko Yawns Its hillarious XD

  • where do u get healthy geckos?

  • It sneezed because of all the fucking sand in there.

  • haha give your gecko advil because he is catching biever fever tonight

  • 19 people didnt having any masking tape to fix that guy.

  • clean your tank he is half green no wonder hy he is sneezing

  • nice u got a fat tailed gecko i got a crested gecko :]

  • uhh.. not to be a debbie downer, but sneezing in reptiles is almost a sure sign of a URI. vet!

  • aww so cute and im a guy

  • yoh mine sneezes all the time its pretty funny

  • guessing he/she dropped her/his tail?

  • Bless you!

  • spongebob?

  • was that a regenerated tail?

  • HAHAHA He Almost Fell Over 8-)

  • you really shouldn't have him on sand. Google it and switch him over to paper towels or repti-carpet. cute vid tho!

  • @snowbirdy6 I have had my Leo' on sand since I bought her and have had NO problems.

  • @stysall well you may want to consult a vet. You should not have her on sand. She could get impacted and die. I had mone on sand too at first, but after reading about how bad it is and talking to a vet, I switched over to the repti-carpet.

  • @snowbirdy6 Well to be honest I have heard bad things about sand and I am considering changing to carpet. My Leo' has good aim and has never missed her prey food and she is on calcisand.

I have noticed some small amounts of sand gets into her water dish though.

  • @stysall Cali sand is the worst thing you can put them on! It encourages them to lick it because it has calcium in it! More risk of impaction..

  • @karagain Yes, I realise this now, I have ordered some repticarpet today to replace the sand.

  • HAHAHAAHAHHAA!!!! supah adowable!!!!!!! BUT u guys HAVE to see this guy's leopard gecko video.... its eating skills r SUPAH wicked!!! the guy's username is: crazygecko55 !!!!!!! MUST SEE!!!!

  • 17 people HATE pumpkin pie!!!

  • ahahahahahI Cute!

  • Is That Patrick Star's gecko??? It sounded like him...

  • cuuuuuuuuute

  • keep pressing at 1 sec

  • Press 1 for Boogie!

  • Comment removed

  • you get more of a dance when u click 2 and then 4

  • keep clicking 0 for gecko dance

  • Wow that tail looks dangerously swolen and geckos aren't supposed to sneeze

  • @welshwilderbeast It's most likely fallen off before, and it will have grown a new one.

  • @welshwilderbeast

Its probably regenerated. Regenerated tails have a chance of growing back looking bulbous n such.

  • @boffgirl Do all lizard tails grow back? or just certain species?

  • @WhiteLionness

only certain species, leos can because they drop their tails as a defence mechanism in hope that it distracts predators. They only do it if they got terrified of something or sometimes they loose them in a fight.

  • @WhiteLionness all types of leopard geckos

  • you're over feeding it, how mean, i saw its tail, it shouldnt be that big, thats bad.... feed it super worms once a week, or less in your geko's condition.

  • does he has a respitiory infection becoues lizards do not sneeze unless there is something wrong

  • 15 people didnt save 15% or more on car insurance

  • @bigmaczado4 yhea right on orgasom spas

  • Lol wow TaMatakiaSou, that's the most common misconception, you think you're so wise and smart getting 14 ppl to like it with such a statement, but actually, they live on hardened clay and sand rocks so no, they don't live on sand, smarty pants.

  • SPONGEBOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • omg thats the cutest thing. i cant wait for mine

  • I don't mind the sand, but I do prefer a certain sand. The calci-sand and fine loose sands similar to what you'd see at a sand dune shouldn't be used. I like excavator sand it can be packed down rock hard to mimic the hard ground of their native land, and big rocks or slate can be added. I refuse to keep them on fucking carpet and paper towels for the rest of their life! Reminds me of putting some one in an asylum, sorry that's my opinion and I've had NO PROBLEMS.

  • To all you pro-sand advocates. Name me one specific advantage to sand as substrate. If it kills them once in even a great while then why use it ? @1992pattrow That is excellent advice you give about feeding outside the enclosure it makes sense for many reasons. It is a Leopard Gecko and it's tail has regenerated. click my user name to see more.

  • awesome vid but how could you know he was gonna sneez and record it?

  • sportsterBK8,your right manmade sand under a microscope is cube shaped and can't pass through the geckos bows or butt, natural sand is round and can pass through the gecko, but i wish they sold natural sand.i use construction paper.by the way "it's gonna take more than some masking tape to fix that guy',wowowowow

  • Is that his original tail?

  • what type of gecko is this?

  • @N1c3ass4me It is a Leopard gecko

  • @N1c3ass4me Leopard gecko.

  • IT WILL TAKE MORE THAN SOME MASKING TAPE TO FIX THAT GUY! *WEEEEEOOOWW*

  • my leo has never done that lol thats funny

  • AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW that is so damn cute x3

  • i used sand for my old leo. he got sand in his eyes and i couldnt get it out so we took him to the vet. he became completly blind and as it turned out he didnt eat for a week. when i force fed him his stomach was so unused it couldnt digest his food and he died

  • @lucaman1221 dont buy them at petco they are sick.

my baby bearded dragons i bought stopped eating the 2nd day. I brought them back and got another 1 same thing. It died though sadly.

I bought an entire guide just based on it to take care of it. I gave it a big tank with many other things. Anything it could have. It died.

  • sand isnt good for geckos i heard it can kill them bc it can go in their lungs

  • @xocj21 its actually they can be calcium deprived. so they eat the sand for it and the sand can build up in the stomach causing lil rock to forum in the stomachs.

  • @mercurybottle no.. its causes impaction not a rock.. it blocks the stumach and then they die... slowly

  • @xocj21

I've had mine for 10 years, he seems fine with sand.

  • get to a shop an buy cheap slate tiles with a rough surface , chack my vids an see what have for my gecko. they are so cheap and easy to clean with a cloth and some repti safe spray

  • cute and plz change the sand to a reptile carpet u can buy 1 at petsmart

  • lol all can hear is Patrick star in the background!

  • never use sand especially with babies they could eat the sand and kill themself and never use icecubes for water ONLY filtered water

  • People be trollin'

  • all animals sneeze lol but that was cute. I assume you bought your leo with the tail already fallen since theyre usually way cheaper? Any ways different strokes for different folks with the sand. I used to use half sand but my oldest kept rubbing her face and body on the stuff so I found it weird. A while after I changed it to all paper she stopped doing that. Idk, sand is definitely easier to clean and looks nice. Carpet just sucks ass, they get stuck and all the fecal bacteria stays there.

  • he is not sneezing he is tripping out because the t.v. is so loud. just my thoughts mine does the same thing

  • To all the idiots saying "dont use sand" you just proved that your an ignorant un-educated piece of shit! Apparently one person came up with an idea that it was bad to use sand, and then everyone followed this idea like a trend. LEOPARD GECKOS HOME LAND IS ALL FUCKIN SAND!!! The shit you buy in pet stores is actually healthy for your gecko. So ALL of you idiots go and read some FACTS and SHUT THE FUCK UP! and for the record, HEAT ROCKS ARE SELF REGULATING! SHUT UP WITH THAT TOO!!!

  • @13098519 Geckos and plenty other reptiles have died from eating sand when trying to get their food. Ours did. It may be their "homeland" but pet store geckos are domesticated not wild. For the reptiles SAFETY, its proper to use other things than sand. Its just a precaution.

  • @TaraKathleenn ah.. your right.. so its probably best to keep domesticated fish in kool-aid too..

  • @13098519 Lol you don't need to be sarcastic. I'm saying its a precaution to keep them ALIVE instead of risking the chances. Matter of fact many reptiles have died that way so, it's just a better choice.

  • @TaraKathleenn allright, what if you knew for a fact they PREFER sand over carpet or paper towl? (wich they really do). Regardless, if your going to be very hardcore in reptile care you shouldnt be feeding them in their main tank anyways.

  • @13098519 Lol how do YOU know they like it? They will like anything...they aren't that picky but why take them out every time they need to eat? Its better to put their food in like crickets so they can hunt. We've always fed whichever reptile we had in the cage, with carpet, easy peezy, and less clean up. My personal opinion is that carpet is better.

  • @TaraKathleenn They love it for the same reasons a Monitor lizard would love having a 1' of sand in their enclosure. It replicates what their natural habitat is. You should read up on why feeding your reptiles in a separate tank is beneficial. In my case Id directly say your tank stays more clean. They can still hunt in a separate tank.

  • @13098519 leopard geckos wouldent live on sand in the wild...

  • @monkeyman410 Their habitat is in a desert. Your comment is over-ruled.

  • @13098519 just because they live in a desert does not mean they live '' on sand '' they live in rocky areas of Pakistan, Northern India, Afghanistan and parts of Iran. Your comment is over-ruled.

  • @monkeyman410 Your missing the whole principal. I hope you eventually see your own fail.

  • @13098519 look i dont really wanna argue with you over if leopard geckos live on sand or not, they dont live on sand and your giving false information to people, what if some one comes here and sees your comment they might believe it and put there animal on sand and cause it an early death, plus im pretty sure there arent any monitor species that live on sand either, you are stuborn and stupid just stop you have no clue what your talking about

  • @monkeyman410 Your ignorance is your own wrong doing. You are still misunderstanding. Wich is quite incredible. Your ability to read at this point astounds me. Geckos live IN sand? no.. are you happy now? Your comment is still over-ruled and your intentions of argument are questionable. And for your information there ARE monitors who can LIVE IN sand. With that said id question YOUR knowledge of things. Would you like me to recommend you some books? Careful not to misread anything now

  • @13098519 ok not ''in'' sand, ''on'' sand in the wild as in there running around the desert no they live on rocky hills and shiet, and what does my ability to read have anything to do with this? im not 6 i can read just as well as you can, and im pretty sure i know more about reptiles then you do, i dont know as much about monitors as i do other reptiles but what ever, and please just tell me just what is it that i am '' misunderstanding ''

  • @monkeyman410 Typical of your criticisms to substantiate your rebuttal to try and sound cool.

Claiming to know "more" about leo's is pathetic, considering your attitude and so far knowledge of anything. Your just digging your own grave. Drop the ego and realize your failure already. Or is your attempt at trying to"talk shit" your only true talent?

Rocks and Sand are an "environment".. They make up an area. Leo's habitat is in this case desert. There for They live in that environment.

  • @13098519 im not trying to sound cool i dont know how anything i said gives off that impression, but i wanted a leopard gecko for 3 years until i got one, i always would read about them and such, then even after i got them i still would, i dont really have an ego and what is with you and the word fail and failure you sound like some of the losers at my school when ever one of them messess up or something they say that its annyoing, i wasent even trying to talk shit it was just a simple comment

  • @monkeyman410 Now your back-tracking on your words. Putting down other people whom you know nothing about is an attempt at trying to make yourself feel bigger. Go ahead and count all your insults.

I own geckos who are nearly as old as you. Be careful of your judgments.

If you dont like the word "failure" go ahead and replace it with something else. The way you view that word is not my problem.

  • @13098519 im not back tracking my words im just reading what you say then saying my points of it, i didnt really put you down, im just saying just like all on the people on you channel commented you think you know everything, there calling you an ass and things like that and then added the fact that im not gunna be told im wrong by some one who likes music from zelda... i dont need to make myself feel bigger, this is the internet who cares about other on here making myself feel bigger on here is

  • @13098519 the most pointless thing i could even think of and i hadent ever even thought of that untill you just said that, and woo hoo you own geckos nearly as old as me, there are fuck tartds on expertvillage that have had reptiles all there lives that dont know shit about reptiles so thats not saing much, and yea i guess the part about failure has no point put yea jus thought id throw that out there and see if id make you stop

  • @monkeyman410 In that case, according to your philosophy, it would be safe to assume you dont know shit about reptiles either then?

you keep going down hill with this conversation. and the funniest part is you cant even realize your own stupidity in half the shit you keep on saying.

talking to you is like talking to a kid.. oh wait,, you are one... interesting..

  • @13098519 ok guy you are just weird... according to my philosophy? what the hell are you talking about? your just throwing shit out there thats just not needed... you cant keep this simple? this isnt a trial in a court is it? how am i going down hill with this because i stoped being so agressive? is that it? you dont know me and i dont know you but i can saftly say we are both right about the original topic but in diffrent ways, and there you go again with things that have nothing to do

  • @monkeyman410 Allright, I refuse to continue with this due to your lack of reading ability and incapacity to understand anything.

I hope you stay in school for your own sake and for the sake of youtube comment boards.

Let me know when your up to speed on things.

(Make sure to focus really hard when reading this last comment)

  • @13098519 wait what about a car and something about jesus? no but its 11:30 im half asleep and yea its not my fault i stoped caring about what you were saying half way thru, but you know what they say, argueing over the internet is like the special olympics even if you win your still reteded :P

  • @monkeyman410 Actually its talking shit; Not arguing. Otherwise your first disagreement to my comment is an act of retardation.

  • @13098519 well it started as just a comment then went to talking shit then argueing so about halfway threw it was

  • @13098519 with this, the fact im a kid means nothing, and you said i was trying to talk shit now your the one doing that...

  • @13098519 about leopard geckos but you dragged it out and made it more than that your making this a frigan debate... and yea i guess rocks and sand are an enviornment and make up an area, and thats what a desert consists of but, thats does not mean they live on the part that would be sand, i mean theres sand pretty much every where but theres a diffrence between the ground thats just sand and then the little amount of sand there would be where they live, which would be basiclly just on rock

  • @monkeyman410 To your second response, if youve ever been to Pakistan and studied this behavior; you have no grounds to say anything. Regardless where a gecko lays his head to rest can be on whatever it chooses, but the end result is they live IN FUCKIN SAND... deal with it.

  • @13098519 i wouldent need to go to pakistan to study this there is no reason for leopard geckos to just change the way they live in the wild, they live on rocks and such becasue thats the way they are made to live, there nocturnal, they come out at night and eat when there are fewer predators,, its not like there just gunna go out to the middle of the desert and hunt for food they dont move alot they stay in a general area because there such easy prey, evolution gave them a break away tail to

  • @13098519 escape predators and then run and hide, there much like uromastix in the way they live

  • @13098519 up on a hill or something like that that is just rock like the side of a cliff, i cant really put it into words but yea maybe youll get what im saying

  • @13098519 and from the looks of it all the people who commented on your channel are saying your a retarded and think you know every thing, your probably like 10 years old, you sure have the facts on a leopard gecko that a 10 year old would have, and your saying ill eventually see my own '' fail '' no i wont cuz your the one whos got the fail here but you wouldent be able to see that becasue your a fucking loser who likes music soundtracks from zelda...

  • @monkeyman410 hey hey hey, i agree with you with the whole no sand thing, but the legend of zelda soundtrack is awesome. :D

  • are u watching spongebob squarepants?

  • @daSkaterkiDgirl Kinda sounded like the flinstones to me. x]

  • "ACHOO! scuze meh. ^^

  • lol, he did sneeze

  • they come from deserts so its ok to use sand.people are stupid

  • @storage1pocket and when it comes to stupidity, you're on top of the list. only a few of the deserts are actually made of sand. go check a world atlas next time; or do you live on some other planet?

  • @metaldesire4 man you dont gotta go around calling people stupid?i made a mistake so what?no one likes an asshole and i can already tell you are one

  • He probably had a lot of air in his tail and he tried to let it out

  • The Eublepharis macularis dont live in san deserts, they live in rocky deserts, so they dont use to be in the sand... It can make them problems, but everyone can chose how to keep their geckos...

And the tail is a bit weird... It is regenerated?

  • Lol was that Spongebob in the background?

  • bless you ^^

  • dont use sand.

  • Did you see her tail? looks very strange....

  • So sand kills them? One must wonder how these fragile creatures survived naturally in their hostile, impaction-inducing desert environments!

  • @TaMatakiaSou they live on the ground i found some in pakistan on my trip there and the gecko was hiding under a bush on dirt !

  • @TaMatakiaSou they live on the rocky parts not sandy

  • @TaMatakiaSou Leopard geckos aren't from those kinda of deserts. Not all deserts are full of sand. They actually are native to the rocky grasslands of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Not sandy deserts.

  • @TaMatakiaSou It's not sand, it's MANMADE sand thats bad for them. Naturally made sand has a spherical shape, where as manmade sand has squared edges, that causes it to pack up in the stomach, grinding together and eventually jamming.

  • @TaMatakiaSou 1st off natural sand is round fake is square so impacts

2nd They dont live in deserts

    3rd you're a dumb shit.

  • @TaMatakiaSou they live in parts of Asia and Aphganistan. not the desert. only forests and rocky places.

  • @TaMatakiaSou Den katalaves matia mou.

  • @TaMatakiaSou there used to it int he wild and real sand is differnet then atificial snad

  • @TaMatakiaSou if you're wondering about them living in desert with all that sand, they don't live in the sand part they live in the dry part.

  • @TaMatakiaSou the sand can obstruct/upset their belly as young inexperienced hunters. mine seem to like paper towels more than sand

  • @TaMatakiaSou they live in a rocky environment. also it just depends on what the sand is made of. I personally like critter carpet so much better the petshop calci sand is stinky and messy. It also makes for harder temperature control. However I did use it for a long time and never had impaction issues. I just dislike the mess factor. Critter carpet is like lizard astro turf.

  • @TaMatakiaSou they dont actually live in a "sandy" dessert environment that is a common misconception, they live in a very rocky environment where there is very little or no sand near them

  • @TaMatakiaSou They dont live on sand

  • @TaMatakiaSou actually leopard geckos dont live in deserts. the live close, but actully on clay or mud areas of the middle east.

  • poor guy had lost his tail a loong time explanation 4 y it's abnormal

  • I had my geckos on fine calcium sand for years and they were okay. I prefer the carpets because it's much easier to clean but plenty of people keep their leos on sand, it's not like it's just going to drop dead.

  • no, it's going to poop sand - first sign of impaction.

then it's going to drop dead. if yours were ok it doesn't mean sand is fine, it only means yours were lucky

  • @metaldesire4

I have my Leo on sand and my Dragons and they are all fine and healthy.

  • @1992pattrow i think you need to read my comment again, this time carefully

  • @expiondi soz stuffed up there

  • @1992pattrow metaldesire4 is right sand can kill them, look it up and you'll see.

  • @CartoonsOnlyChannel

yes I know about impaction if that is what you are talking about. Normally only new borns up to a year old will get impaction. It is much more uncommon for it to happen to adults. Also if you take the right steps while using sand as a substrate it wont ever happen. For example. All my reptiles on sand are fed in a separate tank with repti carpet so they don't consume any sand while they eat. Wow it really is that easy!

  • i use rock from for fish tanks works great!!!!

  • ahaha cute. i didnt know they could sneeze.

  • lol my leopared gecko yawns lol

  • @rapter55555 lol i think my sneezes well it is cold in englad ROFL

  • So does my crested gecko.

  • You may think that is cute but sneezing generally means that your gecko could have a respiratory disease. most likely from that sand you have it on. Sand can cause intestinal impaction which will kill your gecko. You dhould take out the sand and put him on papertowel.

  • right im gonna take out my sand quick thx

  • My chameleon sneezes sometimes!

  • lol

  • it will take more than masking tape to fix that guy.

  • @chalkituptoboredom WOOOOOOOEEEO

  • I didn't notice the sneeze 'till I replayed it. That was funny as hell. It knocks him back.

  • that was supposed to be a sneez

  • TAS

  • I just learned that box turtles fart....I learned this when she ripped one in her pool.

  • lmao thats funny shit

  • lol, Patrick

  • bless you!

  • if a gecko loses his tail its gonna grow back and look like that ugh so ugly

  • Omg Its way! Over fed its tail is huge!!!!

  • its tale is sopose to look like that its the kind of breed

  • ha what a twat theres no such thing as breeds of leopard geckos theres subspecies but they are all look alikes and have the same care requirements the kind of breed ure on about is morps but theres no such thing as a leopard gecko with a diffrent kind of tail that is a regenerated tail which had been ditatched in some way or another probly from stress

  • o be quiet

  • @SpenceanatorTheNinja why would i be quiet im just stating truthfull facts

let me guess ure another ignorant person that belives calcium sand is healthy and diegestable

  • ur rude i dont really care right now
